Heres a detail people miss: In the propaganda videos encouraging people to Purge, it says if you're not going to participate, put out blue flowers to show your support. What it's actually doing is tipping off Purgers that you're inside your house with your guard down, thus, MORE purging.

seriously tho, i never understood why this family didn’t just have a secret panic room they all stay in PLUS the home security system. if they have that kind of money, they’d have the money to make a panic room & keep all of them accounted for AND in case someone broke in, they’d have the security of being in the safe room so whoever was there could just rob them & dip. also idk if the movies even touched on this but i feel like a lot of rich people would just leave the country for a day to stay safe

I'm glad the sequels expanded on the societal impact this would have. Like, ALL crime is permitted, and I know they were on a budget, but the concept deserves more exploration than "Home invasion for lulz" which we can go and see in so many other movies.

The point is poor people dying. As for this movie, I never understood the "It's technically legal for the protagonists to kill the bad guys and we STILL won't let them do it" writing decision. I didn't actually watch the sequels because this one disappointed me so much with that, but I'm still gonna say it's a wimpy franchise.

I imagine if there was an actual purge a bunch of people would protest by committing crimes on days that weren’t the purge like I don’t expect everyone to just be fine with the whole thing

This is a crazy film franchise! I remember watching THE FOREVER PURGE, where a landowner and his family fight for their lives when residents in Texas don't want The Purge to end, anytime soon.

I’d like to think that everyone in my area would just stay home during a purge, I just couldn’t imagine my neighbours going around and killing people, I feel like there’d be loads of people robbing stores though, we’d probably be in an economic crisis

i like imagining how different the Purge would be in countries that have stricter laws on guns. I live in Australia so I sometimes think it'll make a more interesting movie where people have to be a bit more creative with their methods. or maybe it'll be an uneventful one where people just robs banks instead idk 🤷🏻‍♀

The worst thing that comes to mind would literally just be rob a store just to get a bunch of cute stuff I now I can’t afford otherwise but killing someone no it’s just scares me to know that honestly if a lot of ppl were given the opportunity they would take it and do horrible things and that’s why I don’t like the purge bcs it’s realistic in some sense given the opportunity the things a lot of ppl would do scares me

I agree with the statement about murder not being the biggest crime committed I feel like the highest crimes committed would be towards money, whether that’s robbing, stealing, embezzling, hacking etc, most crimes committed would be low level, taking illegal drugs, throwing huge parties, raiding malls etc I do think murder would happen but not to the capacity shown in the purge movies, I think most people wouldn’t be able to stomach the idea of taking innocent peoples lives.
