This song helped me keep my sanity while my Daughter was dying of cancer. Driving a truck kept from home more than I would have liked in that chapter of my life. I would listen to this song a dozen times a night....remembering she is (was) still alive. I took it quite literally. If she's still alive, everything is alright....but I knew (the inevitability), if only for the night. She died at the age of 20 May, 6th, 2021. I haven't felt like everything was alright since then. I have forgotten. Now, I know the song has little to nothing to do with what I've "used" is for...but ti's mine now, and you can't have it back. I just wanted to say thank you. *EDIT: (11/19/2023) I want to thank everyone for your comments...I am grateful for your thoughts. Tried to listen to the song today....got about 40 seconds in...nope, not yet. Hold your loved ones tight, and then tighter still. Not a day has gone by yet where I'm convinced "everything is alright"....life goes on, it's different, but it goes on. Again...thank you. Her name is/was Hailey.

I was having a really bad day, in a very bad part of my life. I was crying and I turned on the radio. This song came on. When I heard the lyrics « Everything is alright » it calmed me down a little, and now, whenever I feel anxious and sad, I play this. It brings me back to that time but it helps me *so* much because *Everything* *will* *be* *alright* Edit 4 years later (08/2023): Over the years this has become my comfort song, guaranteed to help me whenever I have a panic attack. This song means so much to me.

Thanks so much Glorious Sons for songs like this and S.O.S. I’ve been going through things in life that nobody should ever have to go through...depression sucks, infidelity sucks, cancer sucks, and sometimes life just sucks...so many nights I’ve wanted to end it all, but then I find a song like this that helps me get through another day, another night, helping me to see a light at the end of the tunnel, to keep pushing forward. There’s been so many times I’ve reached the end of my rope, but songs like this help me get through the darkest moments in life and give me hope and strength to tie a knot in the end of my rope and keep going. So thank you, and keep writing songs like this because you never know who it may help.

Makes it easier when you stop identifying with certain genres and just let the mood take you to whatever music you need that day. Some days im metal. Some days it's soft rock. Others it's rap. And sometimes its electronica. Getting bogged down with genres is how you miss out on great music.

I'm not sure why - but I feel this one of the most important songs I've heard in years. Even my wife agrees and we seldom agree on anything. She likes stuff like Oliver and the Sound of Music. When you have a song this powerful any video treatment almost ruins it. Video is okay. The SONG is what's important.

Lyrics: I spent all my money on a pack of cigarettes For a lady that I love with the name I forget That night I taught her how to laugh She taught me how to slow dance I tried to take her home she said "you don't stand a chance" I'm the closest thing my mother had to a daughter I used to be amshamed of that but now I'm kind of flattered I learn that my weakness is a weapon anyway So I haven't touched a pretty thing in forty days Everything is alright If only for the night I forgot what it feels like I set out on a dream that I couldn't understand It made me happy, sad, love, lonely and I don't know what I had A few too many favours from a few to many fake friends I wake up in the afternoon and do it all again Yeah, I punched a man on his wedding night I'm still trying to figure out how to apologize I learned that morning I can't fix nothing anyway So I haven't touched a pretty thing in 40 days Everything is alright If only for the night I forgot what it feels like Everything is alright If only for the night I forgot what it feels like Oh oh oh (Can you feel it baby) Oh oh oh Oh oh oh (I can feel it baby, I feel it coming through) Everything is alright If only for the night I forgot what it feels like Everything is alright If only for the night I forgot what it feels like I spent all my money on a pack of cigarettes For a lady that I love with the name I forget And I learned that morning I can't fix nothing anyway So I haven't touched a pretty thing in forty days

What did you imagine? I thought it was fucking awesome. I thought there would possible be a storyline. Still great though.

Yeah, it's a great video, but listening to it since it came out I sorta built my own little narrative. The song follows the lyrics a bit, opening with the main character giving his lady friend a pack of cigarettes and they go on a date. At the end of it he takes her home but she brushes him off, leaving him to stare at the door and walk away. Upon the first chorus ("Everything is alright") it cuts to the MC's eye opening and he sits up in bed, sunlight streaming through the window. The second verse then consists of him going about his morning routine while establishing the kind of life he lives, beer bottles strewn about, pictures of old friends (close up during "Yeah I punched a man on his wedding night") and the place just being a bit of a mess. At the end of the verse he leaves his apartment and the chorus cuts to him in his car. The second chorus and bridge consists of things contrasting the lyrics: he can't afford gas, his boss yells at him and he's presumably fired, a thug steals his phone, all the while the MC gets more and more agitated. As the chorus closes he arrives home to find an eviction notice on his door. He tears it down and goes into his apartment, looking at the life he leads. As the final chorus rises he takes a bottle and throws it at the wall, taking his anger out on his belongings (smashes his TV, flips his table, throws the pictures, etc.), cutting between his rampage with a rotating shot of him slowly calming down, looking confused at what he had done. The final cut comes at the last verse, his balcony door closing as he leans against it, sliding down to sit. He takes out the same pack of cigarettes from the start and lights one, letting out a cloud of smoke as the song ends. Or at least, that's how I imagined it.

The slow motion tar and feathering is an awesome analogy of the progressive public humiliation of his actions, a result of substance abuse (alcohol).

You are entitled to your opinion. This is THEIR song and no band will ever sing it better. Such a stupid comment and pretty insulting. So you're saying that your favorite band (obviously) would sing it better than the original?
