I have owned a Stuart golf follow trolley - they use cheap brushed motors, have poor remote range, and jerky follow mode due to turns being by hard braking on one wheel to create a turning-skid. Thus operation on hard surfaces is much more erratic than on grass. The number of times it hit me in my ankles going downhill left me mentally anticipating a sharp pain. I now own an axglo follow and it is way, way superior. Brusheless motors, proportional control, wide stance and long wheelbase for stability. Pivoting front wheels so no skidding turns.

I can't really see the point of the 'follow me' function. I would rather have the buggy in front of me or at least where I can see it to avoid any problems.

Great. But what is the timing of the follow function? Can the Vertx be retrofit in the future for follow?

Retrofit, highly unlikely. Having followed the company for some time now. I imagine a year or two development lag from the Vertx to a possible Vertx Follow. They really seem to take the time to properly develop a product before releasing it. Great company. They also seem to hold resale quite well and do factory trade ins. So you could buy a Q follow or Vertx remote now and sell or trade it in a few years to upgrade. Bought the Q follow last spring. Absolutely love it. Played about 50-60 rounds with it so far. Its been flawless.

Is it better than the mgi ai navigator gps+? I am trying to decide which is better, although I have Arccos on my watch and the phone, so not sure if I need the GPS. Your thoughts? Bill

I have had a MGI Navigator for many years and the gyro feature means that it keeps a straight line roughly and is excellent when traversing hilly and undulating terrain but on the other hand, I have had numerous problems with it and would hesitate buying another one due to its unreliability.

The mgi navigator is great because it has pivoting front wheels so steering on different terrains and up/down hill is consistently good. It would be very hard for any trolley with fixed front wheels to have smooth in control steering. Its just physics - you rely on the ground friction of the front wheels, which varies all over the place. The mgi wheelbase is short though, so it needs that annoying middle back wheel extension for stopping tipping going uphill. The axglo long wheelbase avoids the need for this middle back wheel. The axglo also has the mgi feature of gyro stabilized remote control as well as follow mode, so you can run it in front if you prefer (steward wanders all over the place in remote mode and needs continuous corrections)

@@port3f9 thanks for the reply, I went ahead and bought the MGI Ai Navigator, have taken it to the course once, so far no issues. Definitely like the fact that it is remote compared to my Bat Caddy that I had before.

Standard M7, GPS, or GPS remote? I've used the M7 GPS Remote for the past six months or so and it's a great trolley and the GPS means it has more functionality than VERTX. It can also be used in manual mode, whereas the Stewart cannot. However, I think the Stewart is a better design and a more responsive model when it comes to the remote. It also has the automatically retracting stabilizer wheel, whereas M7 has to be manually put in and taken out and the duel front wheels of VERTX were preferable for me. If I were buying, I'd choose Stewart. Prefer the design, it performed really well on all terrains, and I like to use a laser for yardages so wouldn't need the GPS functionality anyway. Hope that helps.

⁠@@todaysgolferyou can operate the Stewarts in a manual mode in case of a dead battery or a fault. I forgot to charge it and tried to stretch the 36 hole battery to 45. Came up one short par 3 shy. You press a button on the wheel, pull the wheel out a bit, turn it 45 degrees, and push it in to lock it back in. It allows the wheels to freewheel on the axles and disconnects the hubs from the dogs. Wouldn’t want to play a round like that but in a pinch its not too heavy that you cant finish a 9.
