I relocated to Greer from S. Florida a year ago. I love it here. It’s a beautiful city and it’s much more affordable than S. Florida. In my opinion, the only downside to Greer is that I have to travel into Greenville (not too bad as it’s only a half hour away) for almost everything. Greer doesn’t have a Whole Foods or Sprouts, which I bought groceries from in S. Florida. And I have to travel into Greenville to do shopping at places such as Homegoods or to access a Pilates or barre class. The pros of living here far out way the negatives. Also, the restaurants here are not impressive and the overall cost of food is higher. There are many more cons to being in S. Florida which includes low salaries, VERY high cost of living, expensive real estate, really high HOA fees, ridiculous property taxes, and staggering homeowners insurance fees. Also, the people in South Florida are very aggressive and terrible drivers. If you are sitting at a light for a few seconds, after turns green, people will honk viciously at you. I feel like the people here in South Carolina are much nicer, drive better, and never use the horns to bark at you. But I also love is that the state of South Carolina was in support of installing solar panels and even paid the cost of the hardware. Because of that my electricity bill per month is only about $35. And my HOA fee, homeowners insurance, and property taxes are much lower here.

Thank you for watching the video and sharing your experience of living in the area with everyone. I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying living in the area. The upstate is truly a special place to live. I agree that we are lucky that things are more affordable here than many of the rest of the country, and it's amazing that it comes with very few quality-of-life sacrifices. The Greenville area does offer more resources, and you may be aware of these already but I've heard great things about Pump and Pilates, and for grocery stores, Lowes Foods has a similar style to Whole Foods or Sprouts. I'd say it's in the middle between a Whole Foods and Trader Joes style grocery store. For local restaurants, Local Harvest is a great option for a healthy meal/lunch in downtown Greer. Select is my favorite place to eat in downtown Greer. Some of my favorites in downtown Greenville are Jianna, Halls, Camp, Pomegranate on Main, the Cazbah, Kitchen Sync, Anchorage, and Asada.

@@livingingreenvillesc2899 Thanks for the info! I have gone to Lowe’s for groceries but most of it is not organic. In fact, their items resemble what you can find at Ingles, but for at least 2x the price. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I do go to Pump N a Pilates but it’s literally 5 minutes from Greenville so it takes me about a half hour to get there. We need a Pilates studio in more of a central area in Greer. Despite these downsides, I love it here and don’t regret moving here.

We experience all 4 seasons but rarely get snow and below-40 temperatures. Spring and early fall are beautiful with the mountains, plants blooming or leaves falling, and wonderful temperatures. Summer can get hot and humid from June-early August. The winters are very mild compared to most places, but a lot of people enjoy experiencing all 4 seasons, and for SC having reduced humidity outside of the summer months.
