I bought the Rodecaster Duo to replace my GOXLR and it's a beautiful little machine the sound quality is noticeably better than the GOXLR, I know it's a subjective statement. However I did return the Rodecaster Duo and went back to the GOXLR for one simple reason, the Rodecaster can't do submixes and that was deal breaker for me. Rumour on the street is that will be fixed in the very near future with a patch according to the Rode Software development map.

More reasons we need to have companies to build their software/firmware in mind in that if they ever closeup/go under then open source software can replace it. Probably won't happen till the EU mandates it, but would be a huge proponent to stopping unnecessary e-waste, while also getting more people in to programming and modding.

I valued having the built in sound pad a little more than submixing so what I ended up picking up recently just with how approachable the cost was compared to the GoXLR was the Zoom Podtrak P4. i have a behringer xenyx 302usb, and was looking to get the goxlr mainly so i can control other audio channels while gaming and talking on discord (don't really stream or make videos, just want a good audio setup). also wanted to get something so when i launch a freshly installed game, i want to be able to turn the volume down on that game and hear others talking (can't stand how loud games are when you first start them for the first time and you can't hear anything else) are there any other devices besides the razer mixer and goxlr that can do all that?

Picked up a Rodecaster Duo and it is not a replacement for the GoXLR. The sliders/faders are assigned to a USB input. Which means you can't control your game, system, music, voice chat, mic volume, individually. The only workaround I was able to find is to connect a second usb-c from PC to Rodecaster Duo and assign my music to that input. So my music was controlled by that fader, and everything else was controlled by the other fader. Ulltimately I ended up returning the Rodecaster Duo because it just missed the mark.

I've been really happy with my Presonus Revelator Dynamic USB combo'd with a Stream Deck+... mostly. [This isn't seeking support here, just saying this solution isn't perfect and has some annoyances which affects workflow.] I had to install a VST to downmix the microphone to mono because for reasons I cannot comprehend it was transmitting left channel only (despite being toggled to mono in Universal Control), and also that the Stream Deck+ has this annoying bug where any input on the touch screen repeats itself after the first one. e.g.: I tap to mute the Browser (works), then tap to mute Game (unmutes Browser, does nothing to Game), tap to mute Game again (now Game and Browser are both muted), and so on, so forth. I don't dare swipe to change pages because touching anything on the new page repeats the swipe function to take me to the previous page. There's also having to mute the monitor mix from the mic in Wave Link because of the bad delay compared to just listening through the mic itself (which is where my headphones pass through, rather than the PC).

All I'd love is an XLR interface with the ability to run custom VST plugins on the device. I know that would require additional hardware because they wouldn't be able to run on the DSP as most of the time that's quite specialized hardware, but just adding in what is effectively a microcomputer with just the capabilities of running VST plugins, even if limited to just a couple and under a certain size, would be very nice. It's often necessary to still add further effects to a voice other than just the typical noise gate, EQ and compression provided on most DSPs. Not that running a couple VST's cause that much work for the PC, but it's not completely negligible if you're already close to bottlenecked. For the Rodecaster Pro 2, they have released the Duo recently which is 2 XLR ports instead of 4 and 4 faders instead of 6. It's $200 cheaper at 499 instead of 699, still on the high end but you still get all the features as long as 4 physical faders and 2 XLR ports are enough. The Avermedia Nexus is getting better with each update, I still find it lacking a bit from what I've seen. As for the Beacn Mix and Mix Create I agree that most of the functionality can be achieved with a Streamdeck+ if you have one, however you'd need to find a separate solution for a routing table. the Routing table in Beacn software is in my opinion the nicest to use routing table I've seen in a software yet, and hopefully other companies take note of how intuitive and easy it is to use without lacking flexibility, I just seriously, seriously wish they have just added an XLR port to it, the idea of getting it alongside another interface is a bit silly. For USB microphones it would be fine, but for XLR setups you need an XLR interface along with the Mix. Honestly I wish they'd just release a version of the Mix Create that basically just took the internals from the Beacn Mic and connected it to XLR instead of the analog signal directly from the capsule, it'd be nice to use the Beacn software and features (for example the noise removal, not noise gate, which I haven't seen really anywhere else) on any XLR microphone.

Wave XLR let’s you run VSTs
@DreadKyller
@DreadKyller Жыл бұрын
@@EposVox I meant on the device, not just in the processing chain. I like how interfaces with built in DSP's help to offload the processing off your device. While the Wave XLR allows you to run VSTs prior to the sound being emitted to the output, those VSTs as far as I can tell run locally, not on the device, meaning the processing takes up CPU resources. I'm just saying I'd like a device that allows you to upload VSTs to the device and have the device run a VST host that processes the audio before being sent to the PC. Compared to DSP which is designed to be very fast, effectively running highly optimized simple math on a stream of data with very little latency between input and output, VSTs can be quite intensive sometimes and may introduce a sizable amount of delay, so it most likely wouldn't be able to be monitored effectively without hearing the delay.

I have been using the Rodecaster Pro 2 and I am one of the ones that swear by it. LOL. I have 2 pc's and a ps5 connected to this thing and it has severely simplified my setup. Gaming console does not work properly if you connect it with a usb-c. You will have to get an audio extracter at least for the PS5 and a balance 3.5mm to 2XLR Male Stereo cable and connect it to 2XLR female ports on the RC2. Great thing is you can combine the 2 ports to 1 knob on the device through the software and is very easy to do. Great thing is you do not need a hum destroyer to get the noise out. This works very well for my 3 device setup as I do not have to switch cables or do anything extra. With all the audio features to process the sound the way I want it connected to my sub and 2 studio monitors, it is like i was in a new world that I was missing out on. LOL

I originally regretted selling off my GoXLR but, that was back in early December and money was a far more pressing matter for me at the time. I always favored the Wave XLR over the GoXLR due to its control via Wave Link. I drooled over the release of the Stream Deck +, and was hoping to get it someday. After finally getting it, I can now no longer go back to the GoXLR even if I wanted to have it. The level of control the SD+ gives me now is just too good. I'm hoping the volunteer GoXLR team tries to implement a lot of what customers have been asking for, but now that official support is done I think it's going to be highly unlikely that I'll ever pick this up again.

I might be a little bit bias here, as I helped getting the opensource GoXLR Utility working on Windows (yes, the windows version is the port from the Linux one). I would say, use the stable firmware, it should be possible to flash back if your on the beta. I don't think the firmware will be opensource, and there is some encryption when flashing, making it hard to reverse engineer without support from tc-helicon. For the opensource GoXLR Utility, the device has never been more alive. Everything is controlled through an API, that means that everything you can do from the app. A plugin can also do. So now it's theoretical (until a plugin exists) possible to control the device from not only Stream Deck, but also OBS and similar. And you will also be able to use multiple plugins (not like the official one that was limited to just one). The opensource version also a lot better when it comes to accessibility, and can now be used by blind or visually impaired people. For the Windows version, it does require the official tc-helicon drivers (Linux and MacOS does not). And you cannot run it at the same time as you run the official GoXLR App (as the official one gets confuced and crashes). All in all... the device has been "dead" before, and only time will tell if this is the case for now. However... I understand the skepticism as there is basically just one developer on the opensource version at this point. I would suggest all that starts using the free opensource version to consider sponsor the developer (I do monthly), but that's not a requirement.

I love using my stream deck plus with my SSL2+ audio interface. IT'S PRETTY AMAZING. My rodecaster 2 sits on the side if i ever need it. With having both im covered.

Saw senpaigaming also use the mackie DLZ creator mixer and it seems it might be a good replacement for GO XLR and seems to have less issues than the rhodecaster pro 2 atm except its around that $700 mark so a bit more pricier. However it has a larger screen and a lot more fine tune optimization imo

The Rodecaster is amazing, but it is overkill for most people. However, they have now released small versions which are more akin to the GoXLR in terms of price that may be worth visiting

The words you want to look for in audio interface is "class compliant" which means it is agnostic to operating systems and near universally supported without additional software.

I don't know how people are using the Rodecaster as a GoXLR replacement without some major compromises. Only 3 USB audio devices (and you have to use up TWO ports on your PC). Whereas with GoXLR, you had 5 USB audio devices. The upgrade path just isn't there if you want to keep it similar to your GoXLR setup.

I've been using the io24 since you did your first Video on it. I've been more or less happy with it. I run an odd setup where I use a single SM7B going into 2 different comptuers with Art Pro Split into the io24 to my main rig, and a GoXLR Mini that I got for free into my work laptop (use the mic for VOIP/Teams).

I know a lot of these kinds of mixers/interfaces have features that streamers and creators love, but I've always found the interfaces offered by established companies with a track record and history of quality audio engineering hardware design and making to be much better performance wise such as quality preamps and much more reliable. I went with an Audient iD14 mk2 a year ago and have no regrets. It lacks some of the not really critical fluff style features of streamer style mixers, but it's got a damn good preamp and has been solid, plus cost less. I wish GoXLR users the best, but a healthy level of suspicion for new companies and products can help save future headaches

Weeeeell, Shiiiieeeeet. 🙃 That explains literally all of my conversations with anyone (formerly) on the GO XLR team back when I was trying to find out how to do Submixing. I'm glad I've had it for over a year at least. Still... that's an expensive purchase that I hope lasts a few more years before the software craps out.

I love my Presonus IO24 coming from GoXLR: The IO24 has Monitor outputs so I can hear good music without headphones. Great inexpensive hardware sounds great and yeah less expensiv then a Wave XLR. I wait for Rode Streamer X and roadcaster duo MK2 versions.

Voicemeeter Potato with a AKAI MidiMix Mixer. My only complaint is the driver is unable to be used on multiple programs at once, so if you wanna use some of it with obs and some with voicemeeter you have to setup a relay program. Which AKAI would update this.

Love my Beacn products, the Mix Create & their Mic. Had to ditch my previous XLR mic, I forget what model Shure, since that connection isn't supported by Beacn, but all the better IMO. A real shame what happened here. I wonder if it was simply a "business decision" that profits were not large enough, or there were no profits at all.

Damn...welp, I guess that's the kick in the pants I needed to move on to the Wave XLR. I stopped streaming and making content a few years ago but the GoXLR was great for my remote work and the content I create in the context of my job. However, ever since I upgraded to Win 11, the whole thing turned...clunky. The Stream Deck plugin always needs a few restarts of the GoXLR app to kick in. Even the app itself seems to have a delay between switching profiles and them registering on the device. I've been itching to switch to a more software based solution and the Wave is perfect. RIP I guess....

I have the Rodecaster Pro II and it is close to exceptional. STEEP learning curve over the GoXLR but, doing live events for a big company with pro gear, it’s the closest you can really get at your desk. And certainly the closest you can get on a 100% portable rig.

That's why I'm glad that I bought the Wave XLR instead. I trust Elgato's longevity way more. The lack of direct inputs sucks, but it's not super difficult to work around, and I have a second interface just in case. Works flawlessly with VST's and Stream Deck too.

Can anyone help me understand why this means the GoXLR is dead? Why would this piece of hardware need software support updates to stay fully functional and "alive?"

M-Audio M-Game Solo is another GoXLR-alike. Its software is buggy but going on sale for $75 regularly its a not bad entry level product for all the features and hardware controls it has. The Duo has more features but the dual-PC mode just seems to add more software issues.

I have the rodecaster pro 2 and it is one of the most fun devices I've ever had, I use it pretty much every day, it's a shame that the ppl didn't really look up the capabilities of the device also before they bought, the Go XLR apparently requires the drivers/software to run which was a big no go for me, since the rodecaster pro 2 is UAC2 compliant, I could plug it in to a freaking IoT cat feeder and it would probably work.

Ultimately nobody knows. Like it wasn't gonna last forever anyway, but how long they will go is an open question. I have a Windows Vista era audio interface where the drivers and the firmware haven't been updated since, and it has grown bugs over the years. For one the driver no longer suspends properly so computer going to sleep means it's going to lock up on wake up with the interface connected. Eventually it lost output gain control in software between versions of Windows 10. But otherwise it's still functional under Windows 11. Windows 10 updates also repeatedly crippled a VIA onboard soundcard that I had. I think it's likely enough that the interface will survive some Windows updates but updates to USB and audio subsystem might do it in, but if you're lucky it might take a good few years or perhaps even decades. It's not predictable.
