I just don’t get making a sports watch these days without a micro adjust system (or something like Cartier where all links are basically half links). The wrist swells in the heat. It is just stupid to not factor that in when designing a sports watch.

Own and love this watch. I reach for it more than my Daytona - finished better than my Patek. The bracelet is perfect, the lack of a serious taper makes it feel like a solid tool watch. It could do with a micro-adjust, but that is the only downside I can find. Based on the 1967 GS44 case - date of my birth.

Yet again, incredible presentation of an incredible watch! The movement in this watch is just out of this world (aka price range). I think this alone easily puts the watch into that price category and I think GS knows so they did it. And I think it's a great step for GS. I hope they will still stay close to 5k with most of their models but they really deserve going up to the 10k territory where this watch clearly belongs to! Btw. the 'White Birch' naming doesn't come from ONE birch bark but from a whole forest of white birches there. So the dial layout does reflect narrow growing birch trees. That way the pattern does make sense again ;-) I think they have such a picture on their website / micro page for the watch.

A great new watch by GS. But my enthusiasm for it has been tempered somewhat due to that ugly overtly chunky bracelet. I wasn’t aware it was 22mm. Just way too wide for a 40mm watch. And the taper to the clasp is only 2mm. Giving it an inelegant clunkiness more reminiscent of a huge Panerai than an elegant everyday wear. And things don’t improve that much on a strap either, as it’s still that in-proportionate 22mm at the lugs. They really need to bring it down to 20mm and have it taper to about 16/17mm. That would look much better I reckon.
@YoureTerrific3 жыл бұрын
I agree with some of that, but this is a long way off from Panerai.
@zackarymcdonald48813 жыл бұрын
I find it strange you are so bothered by that proportion. Rolex DJ36 is 36mm case and 20mm lug width. That is very nearly the exact same proportion to this gs. But no one is bothered by the rolex proportions
@valentinhoerzer3 жыл бұрын
Having had both on my wrist I think it has something to do with the absolute numbers not the ratio... like in proportion it should be the same but the GS just seems a tad clunky .... I feel like a 36mm gets away with that more easily
@DavidDatura3 жыл бұрын
@@zackarymcdonald4881 that’s because the Rolex has more of a cushion case design. And just to be clear, I’d generally prefer to have a GS over a Rolex.

There is zero chance in hell the price is going down to $6500 hahaha. That's a 36000 hi-beat 80 hour power reserve with a silver textured dial. $6500 would be HORRENDOUSLY undervaluing it.
@mosytube3 жыл бұрын
@@sylinmino Lol I know there is 0 chance of them lowering the price. However there are other models with hi beat that are priced significantly lower (for example SBGJ249 @ $6800). And I don’t think the minimal amount of silver on the dial increases the value almost $3k. I would say it’s currently overpriced and should be closer to $7500, maybe 7900.
@sylinmino3 жыл бұрын
@@mosytube You're comparing two completely different movements. Also, it isn't a "minimal amount of silver", it's a high level of silver alloy that creates the luster of the nature dials. Lange does the same. But back to the movements. Completely different, even though both hi-beat. The SLGH005 uses a brand new movement, compared with the SBGJ249 which uses one several years old. The new movement has much higher service intervals (over double, since it is basically frictionless like the co-axial), easier servicing, has a much higher power reserve, and is much thinner. This allows the case to also get 100m WR (versus the SBGJ249 at 30m) and still be over 2mm thinner. Also, a better bracelet. I have the one for the SBGJ249, and have used the SLGH005's bracelet, and the new one is far superior, even if it still has ways to go.
