Stephen Laurel "tWitch" Boss (September 29, 1982 - December 13, 2022) was an American freestyle hip hop dancer, choreographer, actor, television producer, and television personality. In 2008, he finished in second place on the American version of So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD). From 2014 to May 2022, he was featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show as a repeated guest host and he was also a co-executive producer of the program. He was featured in Ellen's Game of Games as a sidekick to DeGeneres. Between 2018 and 2020, he and his wife, Allison Holker, hosted Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings on Freeform and Disney+.
In 2003, Boss was a semifinalist on MTV's The Wade Robson Project and a runner-up on the television talent competition Star Search. He choreographed routines for South Korean pop/R&B singer Seven and helped train other YG Entertainment artists including Big Bang. In 2007, he was an uncredited "flamboyant dancer" in Blades of Glory and a Maybelle's Store Dancer in Hairspray.
After competing in So You Think You Can Dance, he taught dancing at South County Classical Ballet with fellow finalist Katee Shean. On April 30, 2013, he and Allison Holker performed a dance routine on Dancing with the Stars. They danced to "Crystallize" which was performed live by Lindsey Stirling.
Beginning on April 1, 2014, Boss was featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show as a guest DJ. In October 2014, he announced that he had been cast in Magic Mike XXL. On August 17, 2020, he became a co-executive producer of Ellen DeGeneres' daytime talk show.
On December 10, 2013, Boss and fellow SYTYCD alum Allison Holker married at Nigel Lythgoe's Villa San Juliette Vineyard and Winery in Paso Robles, California. He also adopted Holker's daughter. Their son was born in March 2016, and their daughter was born in November 2019.
On December 13, 2022, Boss was found dead in Encino, California. His death was a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head.He was 40 years old.
Boss' remains were interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

So sad. People that deal with Mental health issues is serious. I hate when some people say "What do you have to be depressed about?" If you know someone dealing with mental health issues, please be nice. Help if you can. Sometimes just having someone to talk to can make a difference. It doesn't cost anything to be kind.

Lost my dad this way 5 years ago. It’s something you never quite get over. There’s always this black hole in your heart and mind when you think about it. A void that’s never filled, a door that’s always open. Hope no one has to experience it.

My husband found out he had prostate cancer he started to cry he wanted to just go away he kept saying I am going to leave you baby I got him some help right away I don’t leave him alone I hug and kiss him all the time I tell him I love you and you ain’t going no where I make sure he take his medicine I always ask him what you wanna talk about today he’d say how blessed I am to have you I tell him I am blessed to have him we talk more and talking about things is good my doctors are the best they check on us a lot but I thank god the father for healing my husband

@@terikathomas2131 every time I spoke with him and Allison after class they seemed like the all American family. Kids traveled with them and sold there merch/products but you could tell his passion for the art of dance and how much he loved to teach it to others. I am sure there are allot of kids across the country that have felt a void since his passing. Never in a million years would I have ever thought this would happen. I wish KZfaq let you put pics in comments because I have so many of my daughter and him at dance conventions and he ALWAYS had that contagious smile!

It's just a shame to lose anyone this way. I just hope that he found what he was looking for in the afterlife. It's the hardest thing because it's such a shock and the endless thoughts it brings that maybe there was something we could have done to prevent it. But people who are this despondent are very good at keeping their feelings locked up inside. It's the tears of a clown come to life, and no one had a clue. So sad. RIP tWITCH ❤ 💐

I remember last year when I found out on Ig that twitch passed away, I was in shock. I remember him in Ellen. May he rest in peace. Mental health is real. Whenever if you are sad or depressed talk to someone.

I have depression and anxiety. I have to actively fight it everyday. Bc there’s days when I just want to throw in the towel. It got worse when I lost my husband unexpectedly. I send my prayers to the family. Rest easy, Twitch🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻✝️

I also fight Anxiety and depression, it is most definately real. I Am a Christian, I Pray daily, I do take meds, I am a cancer survivor. I Want to extend My deepest and Most Sincere Condolences to You for Your loss. I have lost People So Close to me in my life, and it does indeed leave a deep void and longing to just be with them again. May The Lord Comfort You My Friend....

There are days it just gets really dark. I’m also a Christian. I pray every morning and every night. Thank you! I really appreciate it. I had those same issues. I lost my dear friend and only friend in 2004 My grandmother. I wanted to make her proud. 2 years later, I was sent to Iraq. My Aunt passed and I wasn't allowed to go to her funeral. Which, I thought was bullshit. I had issues with my command. The said, I had anger issues. In 2009 my baby girl was born. I cried everyday. Looking at that little girl everyday gave time the strength to carry on because I felt like, I had to be around to protect her.

Thanks for sharing Scott. I wish that I could ask him why he would do that to himself. He was still a young man with potentially a long life still ahead of him. He also had a family who loved him dearly. So many terminally ill people are desperate to live, but he took matters into his own hands. Never take the permanent solution to a temporary problem. Whatever demons this young man may have faced in life, may he finally have found everlasting peace.

RIP Twitch ❤ this was a difficult one for me because as someone that used to be a competitive dancer and watched and voted for him on SYTYCD so so sad. As well as Michael Jackson. I got to see him live at the Radio Music Awards in vegas years ago. RIP MJ ❤

Meantal health should treated but not everyone seeks help my mom suffered from depression and got help. she died from natural causes. but really glad she got help for her bad feelings. I love and miss her alot. Vickie🥰

MY Grandma is 91 yrs old. She loved the Ellen show and when Twitch would go into the crowd dancing. I know what his kids will go through. I lost my father to same reason around same age. The hurt never stops

My parents are buried at that forest lawn . My son worked security at night there for awhile. I grew up in eagle rock. It’s a beautiful cemetery

The most important part of any headstone, is that dash - it is where We lived, how we lived, who we touched and the impact that individual made. R.I.P. Michael Jackson, I was 4 when "Thriller" came out and loved trying to dance like him, I caught on Quickly. Scott, You are an Amazingly Respectful and kind person in how you present your content. R.I.P Stephen L. Boss, I remember him some, but really never followed his career, however this is still very much saddening.
