Friday marks more than three centuries since one of the most devastating earthquakes to ever rattle the Pacific Northwest: The Great Cascadia earthquake shook with a magnitude 9.0 as 700 miles of fault lines moved underneath the ocean.
The coastline still shows evidence of the West Coast’s strongest earthquake on record that struck on Jan. 26, 1700.

Yeah there's things they can do to prepare, retrofit, building code, etc etc -- but the political will isn't there to do it. Gold Beach replaced their old hospital, which sat in the tsunami zone, with a new hospital in the exact same location. OSU built a marine science building on a sand spit in Yaquina Bay -- pretty much guaranteeing it would be the first casualty in a megaquake/tsunami, and the school's own paleoseismologist warned them about the danger inherent in putting the building there and the university did it anyway. Trust me, where there's parochial interests, safety is nowhere in the lexicon.

Our kangaroo judges got their seismic-proof (hopefully not) $350 million whor... ahem courthouse.. with private bathrooms, golden toilets, platinum toilet paper.. I pray it's the first building in the Willamette when the next big one comes.. I want to see our state-tape-worms in the river and whether they can swim.. I'll be there helping them go with the flow..

I've been installing shoehorns in the corners of frame build in Canada now for 25 years. Retrofitting schools has been going on all that time as well in BC. How's Oregon and Wash. doing??

Only people getting seismic proof buildings are our state-rapists, state-robbers and state-enslavers - our kangaroo judges and other "important" state tapeworms.. they eat the tax slaves for breakfast lunch and dinner, the tax slaves' kids are desert.. what makes you think they'd spare a dime of their stolen loot to protect the indoctrination camps of the peasant's whelps?

I am clearing fallen 150 foot blue fir trees from last weeks arctic blizzard that went rhrough portland and my power was out for 6 days and the roads were a sheet of ice for 5 days and portland has no snowplows or road crews. Can we maybe lay off the doom and gloom stories for a few months guys?
