As a NBA fan also, the only game I could think that could maybeeeeeee equal to this energy is the NBA Finals, but this is just next level. It's electric. Like we don't do chants during games, light flares, etc etc.

My generation grew up watching Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, R Carlos... I still remember the legendary 2002 WC run and Joga Bonito commercials. It was the first World Cup I watched. Also our Dejan Rambo Petković was the fifth foreigner to become hall of famer in the Brazilian football league. I think it is a nice connection between the two nations that share a crazy passion for sports. You are always welcome in Serbia! (we do hate Neymar tho)

I had a chance to meet him in a football conference once and he is such a great guy with a great football knowledge. His Portuguese is so fluent that sometimes we forget that he isn’t Brazilian 🤣Currently he is a football commentator in one of the biggest sports channel in Brazil. Absolute legend 👊🏼👊🏼🇧🇷🇷🇸

Your first basketball game - biggest derby in the world. Serbs are great sports nation with best tennis, basketball, volleyball, water polo players in the world and so much Olympic, Euro and World titles in group sports (basketball, handball, volleyball, water polo). Their ancestors spent centuries in wars in which they defended Europe. They have born winner mentality and enormous courage. They are something like modern Spartans, big fighters. So much respect for our serbian brothers from Macedonia. In my country there are also so much fans of Partizan and Red Star.

Interesting fact about the arena. The construction was started in the early 90's but was stopped because of war, sanctions and so on. When the construction resumed in early 2000's they had to delay again, because they realized the original structural design of the upper stands did not calculate for one important factor. Force of thousands of fans jumping up and down in unison. It meant the stands could collapse because of the violent vibrations. So they had to redesign the stand lower supports in order for the building to endure that kind of force. True story.

In all of Europe the atmosphere is similar. Especially in Serbia and Greece. Visit Greece to see the derby of Olympiacos vs Panathinaikos as well, many former NBA players play in both teams

Bro, like 20 years ago I was sitting in a bookies place with my friend and we were waiting for premier league results nad he had one championship game as well, think it was Millwall versus Crystal palace and we talk and the thought comes to both of us. Grew up in the US. I went to UCONN and witnessed two national titles as a student there. I thought our student section could get wild. I never realized how popular basketball was until i started going to matches overseas The NBA games are full of people taking their clients out for a sporting event and geared towards more wealthy people and the atmosphere sucks compared to college and what you guys do over there in Europe and Asia

In 2 weeks in OAKA Athens it takes place the Panathinaikos-Olympiacos derby for the Greek league (not Euroleague but still big). It should be your next trip. OAKA is one of the newer and bigger basketball stadiums in Europe and the atmosphere will be crazy.

This was for me and my wife the first ever derby. We were on the top flor in red shirts. We waited for this moment, I guess both of us for more than 30 years. We were proud of our participance and chanting "Kosovo is Serbia".

Actually in Serbian we call them both ways, free throws(slobodna bacanja) and penalties(penali)...
