It is the 7th Anniversary of Game 7 of the 2016 World Series featuring the Chicago Cubs vs the Cleveland Indians. Two troubled franchises; Enduring the longest Championship droughts in ALL of Major U.S. Sports HISTORY
Reliving and Breaking-down the iconic moments from Rajai Davis' game tying home run, David Ross' last game, Ben Zobrist's go-ahead RBI double and everything in between to create the Most INSANE Game in Baseball History

I live in des moines, iowa, where the cubs have their AAA farm team, the iowa cubs, so most people here are cubs fans or Cardinals fans. I've been a lifelong cubs fan for about 20 years, and i was so happy to finally see them win 🏆

I was about 12 when this happened. I remember literally every restaurant with a tv had this game on with so many people watching it. I’ve never seen so many people watching a baseball game in my entire life. I am now 27, and married with kids. Thank you gomer for bringing this memory back❤

Im a CWS fan about 16 at the time and remember sitting and watching this game with my brother and grandma. Watching them get that final out sent shivers down my spine and my first thought was that I had to deal with all these Cubs fans at school tomorrow… lets just say I didnt hear the end of it. However, seeing a Chicago team bring home a championship is always something to celebrate. Go Chitown baby

I don't know about that, 1986 was pretty damn good & with an amazing post season to boot. And if you were a met fan, it ended up better ! The 86 Mets lineup was a team that was so well rounded, in an age where the players were so varied. Small speed guys, big power guys, youngins, over the hillers justwinding down but relevant. And everything in-between. Today, most players are bent on being stars via the homerun, with the golf swing, getting paid rediculous money & with no loyalty but to the payday that once they get, they often do the Bobby Bonnia thing ! As a met fan, we know this story well. I don't think anyone in history has taken a teem like he did, it was criminal. I think there should be mandatory 1 year contracts! That's the only thing that can save baseball from these premadanas! Yet I still love the game I just miss players like Rickey Henderson, & Backman , Dykstra, Mookie Wilson etc.

You should do a video of the 2016 playoffs as a whole i think it was by far the best playoffs ever. Yes the cubs story is great ( I'm a die hard cubs fan) but I'm also a baseball fan and i remember all the matchups leading to the WS where great an existing playoffs as a whole great for baseball. Guess what I'm saying is all the playoff teams deserve recognition not because they made the playoffs but becouse they made very exciting playoff appearances..

It’s good to hear that this game was exciting for unbiased baseball fans, too. I’m a lifelong Cubs fan so to say that this was the biggest game I’ve ever watched is an understatement. It was the biggest ANYTHING I’ve ever witnessed. It was also the most stressful 5 hours of my life. I was living in Tokyo at the time and flew into the States to watch the Cubs play in the World Series in Chicago. In order to make my flight back to Tokyo from LAX I had to leave Chicago after Game 6 to watch Game 7 in Vegas. I watched it in the sports book at the Excalibur and was so utterly stressed out during the whole game that I was drinking double-fisted - a straight whisky in one hand and a Sam Adams in the other - and chain smoking throughout the entire game. As a lifelong Cubs fan I never felt comfortable, even when the Cubbies were up big early. And as much as I drank I never really got drunk. At the time it was kind of torture. (Until KB threw to Rizzo to recorded the final out, of course.) But relief and joy followed. I had a few hours to kill before my flight from Vegas to LA and I played poker for a few hours - the Excalibur still had a poker room at that time - and won about 500 bucks. I was still wearing my Cubs gear of course and everyone was congratulating me at the table and at the airports. It’s been 7 years since then and I still get chills when I watch the final out and videos like this one. It was torturous at the time but in retrospect I can enjoy watching the highlights as a baseball fan and sports fan. And in retrospect, I have to think, “could it have been any other way?” Of course it could’ve been a blowout (and was even looking like it was turning into one in the middle innings) but the rest of the baseball world wouldn’t still be talking about it if it had been. All the stars aligned for this one.

1997 was pretty bad too. That team actually had a lead in the 9th inning of Game 7. Of course the 2016 team blew a 3-1 lead in the series with games 6 and 7 at home. So it's pick your poison I guess.

@billny33 As an outsider, I would say objectively, 1997 was the bigger choke. Sure, 2016 had the blown 3-1 series lead, but what kind of gets overlooked within all of the drama with the championship droughts was that the Cubs were the best team in the majors all year long. In fact, the best record in baseball and the only team to win over 100 games that year

I really thought after the Rajai Davis home run that the cubs were gonna lose the game. Especially after the cubs failed to score in the top half of the 9th my heart couldn’t handle the stress and emotions. But when they made it to extras my hope was renewed. After the final out I couldn’t have been more joyful in my life.

This was also the second year I had gotten more into MLB, being more invested in the Cubs (as I had gone to Wrigley Field that year). I remember being so sad because of the back to the future thing being wrong when I was 14 at the time.

I was 39 at the time. Had been watching the Cubs since 1981. I remember being upstairs alone in my room, my ex wife downstairs with friends because they weren't into baseball. The Davis homerun ripped my heart out. I thought I was going to witness the curse of the billy goat continue. Then the rain delay. Then the extra innings...and when Kris Bryant threw that ball to first base....I cried with a ton of emotions. For my grandpa who never got to see this day. For me because as hard as it was believe it could happen sometimes because they were so bad sometimes it was downright unwatchable. Then them making the playoffs in 84, 89, 98, 03 and just the heartbreak of having to go into rebuild mode as the team was sold. Not knowing if the new front office could do it. Knowing that they had done it twice in Boston. Hoping that maybe it would be over, the pain ending. Rizzo makes the catch from Bryant. I am bawling like I did the day my grandpa died. This time with emotions all over the spectrum. I thought...if I died right now...I died a happy person. 2016 had been such a Shit show of a year. It felt like nothing good was happening. Not personally, not in the world. Not politically, just everything felt like it was in the shitter. This moment. That joy, sadness, grief, sheer disbelief that it actually happened and I was alive to see it when nobody old enough to have seen the last win was still alive. It just felt amazing. Then finding out that during the rain delay it was Jason Heyward who had struggled all season long and felt like a mistake signing, comes over and calms everyone down. Gets them to lift their heads back up and play baseball. Came forward and showed leadership and class in that moment. I will never forget those emotions as a Cubs fan. As a baseball fan. I do hope that Cleveland gets their World Series win someday soon. I just hope it isn't against the Cubs. The majority of the Cleveland fans were classy and wonderful and it was a respectful rivalry for those 7 games. Sure. Both of our teams had some idiots being idiots. Overall though. I was happy to see that most of us could handle it with some level of dignity. My hope, the Cubs get back into the World Series in 2024. If they do and they win a second one...I am okay with going to sleep that night and never waking up again. There are so many bad things going on in this world right now. We need that hope one more time.

as a cubs fan for 30+ years and watching the seldom actual playoff qualifications only to get bounced right away or the one deep run where bartman helped throw the game (yes alou would have been able to catch that ball) when i saw bryant field the grounder and toss it over to rizzo i was pretty numb then relieved by the time rizzo pocketed the ball. Then of course it wasnt until replay that you see bryant had started to slip when he was fielding that routine grounder - the billgoat still making its presence felt. It was a wild game

What’s more poetic in a Cubs Indians World Series featuring a 3-1 blown series lead, a blown 5-1 game 7 lead, a wild pitch bringing home 2 base runners, a soul crushing 2 run homer to tie the game in the 8th.. In the end the Indians were the bigger chokers. And it came down to extra innings.
