The greatest gate build I’ve ever done

In this video, I finish the gate build, I did the frame in the last video, and now I am making the tongue and groove panelling. Fix these to the frame using stainless steel screws, and give everything three coats of stain to finish. Then add some big hinges, mount it onto the gate post, and add some sliding bolts and a handle. As I said this is the greatest gate I’ve ever built, but it is the only gate I’ve built so I can safely say this.

Some of the most satisfying videos on KZfaq are just nice series of a project from start to finish - these absolutely hit the mark, great filming and editing, commentary spot on, well done!

Very nice gate build. Yes I hate them too. I've never had one I was happy with. Hopefully this one lasts a long time.

My only suggestion is the addition of a bolt that can be padlocked so that anyone that climbs the fence can’t use the gate. A beautiful looking gate.😁👌👌❤️❤️

@terrystephens1102 thanks for the feedback, I didn't show it but you can run a padlock into the back of the bolt to lock the gate. Like you say stopping people jumping over and opening it.

Very nice gate, congrats. I believe that curve at the top of the stiles are Finials (a decorative feature on the top or end of any object)😀

Good looking gate! Have you used Sikkens before - how is it long term? I'm shopping around for a fence stain
@WTCreations

My first time using the Sikkens, I did a bit of research and a few commercial gate builders were using it and that's why I thought I'd give it a go. I put 3 coats of the Sikkens on the gate, it's recommended you recoat every two to three years. I'm happy with the product so far, looks good and covered well now we just see how it lasts. Thanks for the feedback.

Great job, did you put any mechanical fixings through the tenons, or did I miss that?
@WTCreations
@WTCreations 18 күн бұрын
@brianbostock1698 thanks for the feedback, no mechanical fixings just glue and a tight fit. I thought about running some pegs through the tenons but the timber I used is prone to splitting so decided not to risk it.
