There are great movies that we can watch over and over again because they are just that good. They uplift our spirits and remind us about the hope and virtues of human nature.
Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, Hotel Rwanda, and The Pursuit of Happyness are such movies. But then there are also great movies that are compelling, gripping, and thought-provoking, which we can only watch once.
Great stories on the big screen are also meant to knock us off our center, shake our beliefs, and make us ponder about the frailties of life. Here are the greatest movies we’ll never watch again.

Read the novel. It's amazing. (Though I wouldn't say one is better than the other - the story is a study of Japanese culture reacting to foreign incursion, the film being made by a European Catholic, the novel written by a Japanese Catholic. The differences are actually quite striking and probably make the work as a whole stronger.)

When I was in college, my media studies class had a collection of dvds. I stole City of God, Thumbsucker, and Requiem For a Dream. After 10 minutes of watching Requiem For a Dream. I remembered what happened in the film, and how it ended. So I turned it off, put the dvd back in it’s box and return the dvd to my media studies class. How on EARTH that film isn’t on this list is completely beyond me. Great movie, but I don’t ever need to see it again.

"Grave of the Fireflies" I watched that twice and it killed me both times. I've always felt animation was a great way to tell difficult stories. That movie proves it's true. To me, anyway. We've seen endless movies dedicated to showing how horrible war is for the soldiers, but, we rarely see movies dedicated to showing how horrible it is for civilians. We see even less dedicated to showing how horrible it is for orphaned children. This covers BOTH of those categories. It's a film everyone should watch once, which is great because "once" is all most people can deal with, to be honest lol

I haven't seen Bladerunner 2049 in its entirety but i remember it being good and plan on completely watching it and can see why others dont agree with it being on this list. Deer Hunter I havent watched completely but could see myself watching it again. The only movie on this list I've seen completely is Fruit Vale Station and he's right with that movie. I thought it was well done. I knew Black Panther was going to be great because Jordan, Whitaker and Coogler were getting together on a film again. As good as I know it is I've only watched it once and dont have the inclination to watch it again. It feels so real it hurts to watch. I want to see all these films eventually, I love movies!
