Tom Chambers is one of the greatest scorers in NBA History, having scored over 20 thousand points in his career. But among players who are eligible for hall of fame consideration, Chambers is the highest scoring player that has not been inducted.

But he could score. From inside and out. He was a ferocious dunker, but could also shoot threes (rare for tall players then). He was real athletic and could run and jump. What hops he had, and he was sensational at his best. I've long wondered, what if Larry Bird had Chambers' ability in addition to his actual skills, smarts, and competitiveness? He might have become the greatest forward of all time, with absolutely no question. But what we had was two great players. Yes, Tom Chambers should be in the Hall of Fame.

The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has a reasonably low bar for who/what gets in and an unfair bias toward offence over defence. Based on their own examples, Chambers should make it in eventually. As far as him being one of, if not the best scorers to [currently] not be in the Hall, I think there is a lot more than career points per game to be considered.

I grew up in Seattle in the 80s and 90s and was a huge fan of both the Sonics and the Suns. I had a Tom Chambers poster on my bedroom wall, next to Kevin Johnson, Charles Barkley and Dan Majerle. I think he definitely deverves a spot in the Hall of Fame. His biggest detraction, is also his greatest strength. He played in arguably the greatest era of the NBA. He was overshadowed by the Pistons, Celtics, Lakers and the emerging Chicago Bulls, led by a young Michael Jordan. There are tons of guys from that era in the Hall of Fame, who played on those championship teams.... So, a lot of people ask how he measured up against those giants. Well, his numbers were still phenomenal, even in a very tough era of basketball. He just doesn't have the name caché of Thomas and Dumars, Bird, McHale and Parrish, Magic, Kareem and James Worthy, or Barkley, Olajuwon, Drexler, Ewing, Wilkins, Robinson or Pippen... basically the early Dream Team era. That's his only flaw.

Bill Walton was an all-time great player. You cannot say the same thing about Tom Chambers. He was an all-time good player. Bill Walton led his team to a championship. He was far and away the best player on that team and then went on to be sixth man of the year after all of those surgeries. To me it's night and day.

@@bookaufman9643 bill was that when HEALTHY…when was he ever that though. Bill was put on teams with other good players tell me who Tom had in Seattle to help him? If Tom went to the same teams bill did this wouldn’t even be a debate

best example of somebody in, but may not need to be is Ben Wallace. Wallton was THE MAN in 77. Wallace was a teh heart of a championship team, but his peak was short and was "just" a great defender. Feel the same way about Mutombo , but maybe is because the africa angle, the same way some europeans might not be in if not for his international play. Frankly... if C Webber is in, Chambers should be, they are kind of the similar cases

In the Sega Genesis game Lakers v Celtics, Tom Chambers could dunk from one foot inside the 3 pt line with a triple pump dunk. There were many a time when Chambers rained down dunks on my cousin in the wee hours of the night.

Probably the most OP shot ever in any basketball game before or since. You literally couldn’t miss with that dunk and it was relatively easy to pull off.
