Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie of Edinburgh paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth during their visit to Oakham, where they became the first members of the Royal Family to visit the country's first permanent memorial dedicated to her. Braving the rain, the Duke and Duchess stood beside the impressive seven-foot bronze statue, a poignant symbol honoring the beloved monarch. Captured in a moving video shared by GHR P'borough Stamford & Rutland News, the emotional moment unfolded as Edward and Sophie approached the sculpture, marveling at its grandeur beneath a crown. Sophie looked effortlessly chic in a cream Prada wool coat, paired with a Henri printed silk blouse by Gabriela Hearst, Victoria Beckham's high-waisted flare trousers in bottle green, Sophie Habsburg's Lola bag in orange, and cream leather pointed pumps by Nicola Sexton. Meanwhile, Edward cut a dapper figure in blue jeans, a light green blazer, a white shirt with a green tie, and brown leather moccasins. Royal enthusiasts took to social media to express their admiration for the couple, with one user praising, "It's a new SH and we love it!!! The Duke and Duchess look lovely today. Also, I love this shirt." Another added, "I really enjoy seeing the Duke and Duchess out and about - they make me happy."
A third commented on Sophie's elegant attire, saying, "The Duchess of Edinburgh looks lovely. Love the color & cut of the coat & the pop of color from this super cute bag. Casually elegant, relatable chic. Always a pleasure to see Sophie & the Duke. Doing QUEII, KC & the UK is proud." The eye-catching statue of Queen Elizabeth, located in Oakham's library, stands seven feet tall and portrays a young Queen Elizabeth in regal robes, with her three beloved corgis at her heels. Unveiled on what would have been her 98th birthday on April 21, the sculpture was commissioned by the Lord-Lieutenant and funded by generous donations from businesses and members of the public, according to the Rutland County Council.
