Because the Dozier connection, most people would associate The Green Hornet with the Batman series' camp, when it's actually a lot closer to the Silver Age Batman comics. Unfortunately, it was Batman that got the big ratings in its first season and ABC's support, while the more mature Green Hornet suffered from ABC's cheapjack ways and they dumped it after only one season.

+Colin Swain Well you have to remember back in the 66, Campy was popular. The Green Hornet was ahead of it's time. Maybe if Dozier had waited to do the show after Batman was canceled, the Green Hornet would have done better.
@boldventurepress84435 жыл бұрын
@@robertgordon7187 Dozier nearly did The Green Hornet first ... By the time the Hornet debuted, I think the public was already getting tired of the Batman show. Two and a half seasons, and by the time Batman ended, the show looked really cheap.
@Old-Boy_BEbop5 жыл бұрын
@@colinswain9235 actually this show would of gone a long way if it had super villains, a rival for the Green Hornet and Kato would be awesome... a hero is only as strong as the villain, if ur stopping purse snatchers vs ur stopping super villains about to kill millions. says a lot for the achievement to the hero.

The main flaw of the series was its running time was too short. A story like "Alias The Scarf" deserves an hour, giving greater time to develop the character portrayed so brilliantly by John Carradine.
@theironclads Жыл бұрын
Producer William Dozier tried to show ABC via the two-part episodes of the GH that the show needed to move from a thirty minute format to an hour. Supposedly ABC offered to renew the series for a second season but it had to remain a half-hour show, so Dozier refused and the show was cancelled.
@Telcontar8611 ай бұрын
Absolutely agreed. The 2 part episodes are by far the better paced because the stories are given time to breathe. It's too bad ABC was stubborn

Trivia } John Carradine & Ian Wolfe who plays his business partner in the wax museum both appeared in the film "The Invisible Man's Revenge"(1944). John Carradine also portrayed an evil black clad figure in "House of Frankenstein"(1944),& "House of Dracula"(1945)as Count Dracula. Ian Wolfe was on The Lone Ranger episode "Six Gun's Legacy."TLR is an ancestor of TGH. The young woman who sees the Scarf on the street,screams & runs away is actress Brenda Benet. Brenda was married to actor Paul Peterson(The Donna Reed Show)& later to Bill Bixby(My Favorite Martian & The Incredible Hulk).

Carradine was a fine actor and a welcome presence here, but he had a recurring role as Herman's boss on "The Munsters" in 1965, so I'm not sure he had the luxury of being choosy about roles at that stage of his career.

@@gerrydooley951 I sure wish he had tried to get the series picked up by another of the networks. Please follow me here: The guest star in this episode is John Carradine. One of his sons is the actor David Carradine. David starred in the very popular TV show “Kung Fu” in the early 1970s. It has been said that the person who came up with the idea for “Kung Fu” was Bruce Lee, who played Kato in this episode, and the other episodes, of the TV version of “The Green Hornet.” It was Bruce Lee’s intention to play the role that eventually went to David Carradine. Small (maybe corrupt) world, right?

Rancourt tells the reporters at his museum that the Scarf ceased murdering people twenty years ago and hasn't been heard of sense then. I thought serial killers such as the Scarf were compelled to kill and couldn't stop themselves. Generally, when a serial killer stops killing it is due to (1.) being captured, (2.) imprisoned for another crime, or in a mental institution, (3.) leaving the state where they performed the murders.
@BingCherry113 жыл бұрын
At 22:54 can anyone tell me what is that in Kato's left hand???? Is it some sort of martial arts weapon???? It looks like a butterfly knife. (I could be wrong.) Considering that the Scarf was a known serial killer, Kato was not taking any chances. If the Scarf somehow managed to get his scarf around Kato's neck Kato would use the butterfly knife to cut the Scarf's weapon. Now the Scarf would have to fight Kato without any weapons ... And we know Kato would beat the tar out of the Scarf!!!!!
