Used to operate these machines, the intent is to move material. These units are not being used to their potential, the bowls are 1/2 filled. I also noted that the center cutting edges are not extended which would aid significantly in loading and the push cat should be focused more on making sure the scrapers are being filled. Unless there charging these machines out by the hour these operators are costing the company money.

I used to work for this company and I agree they should be push pulling and the only scraper that got a full load was the 623 paddel wheel. 🤣🤣. Good company though they have lots of work and keep you busy. That’s why I stayed with them for 6 years.

I wonder if the contractor only had one dozer available assigned to the cut just for ripping which was why the scrapers had to self-load. Or, being that the haul to the fill being relatively short and the number of scrapers (the majority being twin-powered along with the paddlewheel, with one single-engine pan) precluded having a pusher. I could see if a second pushcat dedicated to pushing only would then allow full bowl loads, rather than the half-full loads seen here. On the other hand, cycle times are short, and the load count fairly high.

I thought the same thing but only one machine could load before out of the cut. Should have been pushing with the dozer.

If you'll notice the one dozer is flat outright ripping. So that is put of the question.

The TEREX scraper is one of my favorites especially the ones with the twin Detroit diesel. Unfortunately because of California emissions BS they can no longer run those ones here.

I ran 'pulls' is AK and WA state, in the 1970's & 80's. My mentor, friend, and top hand, Sid Harkom once said..."I won't run it, if it's green." These guys are getting half loads and not using the push/pull capability.

Thanks for the video. Any idea what the repower engines are? Or why they are self loading instead of push/pull or dozer assist?

I'm not really sure why they're not push pulling or using the dozer. Next time I am around that area I will try to talk to the foreman and see what engines they have. Thanks for watching bud

The fill target radiates commercial land. No-one wants a home right under a cliff. A shopping center + service station -- yeah. Commercial land goes for premium bucks. That's the economics. You can bet they're so far high in the hills that there is no commercial land nearby.

Can't be a serious contractor with those operators,none of them know how to get dirt in the bowls.Someone should tell them how to use their aprons when loading.

Crazy to see Lizards working and none screaming and it looks like the Cat paddle pan is getting anything close to a full load. SORRY operators. I've run 14's and 24's and you can get a decent struck load with no pusher on flat ground and more downhill. Pitiful.

@@wailnshred Sure looks like it but the only way I could ever get a struck/level load in a lizard was just put it in 1st and reek along. It'd get there eventually. Downhill was a LOT better for any pan.

85- 90года работал на скреперах, называли их " кобра". Был СССР, страна развивалась, было много работы , за которую платили хорошие деньги. горбачев, ельцин, путин медленно убили все хорошее ,что было в государстве и подолжают.

I don’t know how this company makes money? Running scrapers with half loads. Need some operating training or someone that knows something about using push/ pull.
