Credit card technology keeps innovating which can be a good thing; however, on the other hand can also be just as easily a terrible thing. There may be new rules you will have to work around with. There could not be a good solution for the strategies you've used your credit cards in the past. I think one of these technologies is Amazon's new payment/verification system, Amazon One. On the surface it looks like a useful and helpful product that will help you with paying for stuff in your day to day life and don't get me wrong; it is helpful. However based on my experience using it at an Amazon Fresh and an Amazon Styles; it gave me more restrictions than I was expecting with trying to play the credit card game. It was almost not even worth paying the game anymore. So in this video I wanted to talk about my experience with Amazon One; the pros and the cons. Then leave it up to you whether this technology is a good thing or bad?

this! As if tapping the card or Apple Pay in your Apple Watch and phone isn’t enough

I'm cool with NFC payments, and wearibles....but I'm not paying with biometrics anytime soon. What will likely happen will be a Visa or Stripe or Block will set up their own analogous system to Amazon One (and promises/maybe actually does) privacy and allows you to choose the appropriate card within 24 hours while it posts.

I still use a card because I don't want to using my biometrics with a system and my phone my not have battery every time for NFC. But I love NFC when I can use it.

But if we move to this as a society, then there’s no more drop test for credit cards. Everybody would just be slapping their palms on a desk. Credit card KZfaq would be dead.

You covered this so well! Really great vid. I’m always in such a rush when I’m checking out at Whole Foods I just ignored the palm things. Glad to know how to set it up!

Wearables or mobile wallets are cool. But using biometrics would kinda freak me out

I live in the UK and I don’t usually even bother taking my wallet with me when I go out. I can’t recall the last time couldn’t use NFC to pay for something so I just use ApplePay and Google Pay. Even if both my phone and smartwatch run out of power (which they never have) they still hold back enough juice to pay for public transport home. Suits me!

Great take on this ! I tried the Amazon store in NJ Garden State Mall and it didn’t last a year. I’m not sure if everyone is ready to embrace this type of business model. Great video!

Really engaging video! In such a future state, I'd probably be one of the very few people who'd still try to maximize CC multipliers (assuming they're still as lucrative as today). I'd also make my wife do it which I'm sure would annoy her eventually.

There is no way I’m giving my palm print to Amazon. I’m fine with Apple Pay or nfc

I definitely understand that concern; personally, I’m like they have everything else, haha. And honestly I was really excited to try it. Hopefully it’ll be a choice because I’ve seen some businesses use Amazon One instead of a key card to get into the building.

@@CalbyNg that’s a fair point. But if you use your palm print for multiple things and one provider gets hacked.. it’s not like you can change your password. I don’t have a deep understanding of security with these systems but this seams like a flaw to biometric security that I don’t see how you overcome without adding 2 factor authentication or other methods. And at that point it’s not really easier anymore

I think that's an appropriately sized banana tyvm. All jokes aside, I don't think biometrics as the only form of payment is plausible in our lifetimes. But the extinction of physical cards due to NFC payments seems very plausible. I'm enjoying my metal cards and fun card designs while I can.

I prefer my physical cards all day! I love busting out the Amex Gold card everywhere I go looks niche. I’ve always been a physical card guy I don’t use mobile wallets or digital pay unless it’s online.

Interesting. As convenient as it may be to pay with your body part, it may take years for this method to become mainstream. Another hurdle would be just like there are coffee shops and restaurants that are cashless and do not accept cash, there are many restaurants that are cash only. Some restaurants do not accept cards, and they can do that because their food is that popular and in demand; don't have cash, then don't eat here.

Sorry, I couldn't do the biometrics, it's one thing to have biometrics on your personal computer, it's another for a company to have my biometrics stored in their database.
