Hey kryzzp! I have a gt 1030 and have been playing elden ring, after they came out with patch 1.4 it completely made it unplayable. what i find myself doing is constantly moving to different areas in the game to load in different areas, and then i quit and launch the game a few times, and surprisingly enough, it goes back to a playable 25-30fps. Its really weird and i hope they fix this issue in the next patch or few, however i am getting a new GPU soon so it's alright for me. Can't wait to play elden ring at 60!

@@NicCrimson High electric bills, although I hear some areas have a cap electricity bill so they are able to play as much as they want without the bill going higher than it usually is for the electricity. Thankfully I live with multiple people who work so it's not too bad despite having a very power hungry card. I try not to play too much games regardless, usually play at most 3 hours unless its a weekend I'll play 5+ hours.

@@NicCrimson I think it depends where you live, but for most I'm sure its more so because of the psu limit, like if you're a kid and you cant afford anything else and your parents don't want to buy you a new pc. But I think it is completely not worth it anymore.

I think if I were stuck with a GT 1030 I would play older games that would get 60 fps but I like seeing what it can do with newer games.

I'd like to testify about my gt 1030 experience. I've successfully played Skyrim with a crap ton of mods, a lot of Warframe, and some GTA V, too. Just because you can't afford the best, doesn't mean you can't enjoy what you have (:

@@NotFound-it8kj I probably wouldn’t get it today unless you can’t get anything else. When I got it it was Christmas of 2017 when I got it so about 4 and a half years. The bare minimum for a lot of games today is a 1060 or 1050ti

I just upgraded my battle phenom ii pc from an old hd5770 to this very same msi gt1030. It has been a HUGE HUGE HUGE upgrade. Not for performances. I dropped cpu and gpu temps by 20°C. I also dropped the power consumption by 75W and avoided the 15old crappy old chinese psu imminent explosion.

For those who'd like to OC the GT1030. Go for the memory as the OCing the core will only do very little to overall performance. The weakest part of this gpu is the memory and doing OC will give you a slighty better results than doing core OC

I think the 1030 is still a good choice for basic games and even for more demanding one if option are set to medium level.The best thing about this card just needs 30 Watts and work fine with passive cooling. The high end cards need bout 10x as much power, something that has to be considered in the long run.

I have an SFF 1030 in my HTPC. It did indeed replace a GT710. I upgraded (!) when I bought a 4K TV. The 1030 actually plays some older games I like such as Fallout 3.

Fallout 4 even runs on it if you go for like 900p and medium/low. You can match the Xbox one with Medium/high at 30fps if you want

I used to have a gt 1030 in my pc and it was decent for light indie and most esports games. However it struggled with pretty much any aaa game from the last 5 years. 6 months ago I upgraded to the gtx 1650 (gddr6 version) at it's sometimes 3x as fast as the gt 1030 in aaa titles. I'm now very happy with my pc and don't plan to upgrade

@@callumgoldring8324 For AAA games, if you're more into performance than into graphics, the 1650 is very good for you. Though I don't know any CPUs that could be paired with it.

@@Zetr0 1650 is not very good for AAA games, I wouldn't recommend it for that, if you want to play AAA games, you can buy the 6500XT or GTX1660Super/Ti.

@@callumgoldring8324 If you want to play intensive AAA Games, I recommend something like an i5-10400F + a GTX 1660+, the GTX 1660 and above offers pretty good performance in my opinion while not having ridiculous power consumption. (Talking as a GTX 1660 Super owner)

Man this takes me back. I remember the first time I loaded up Far Cry 1 and it ran at what must have been 15-20 fps and I was still blown away by the effects. And now I'm playing Far Cry 5 at 4K 140-ish and I'm already used to it. Time flies.

@@spoonith I feel like people overestimate what you need to play rust lol it runs fine for me 900p 60 fps, you just need a ssd or else you'll be stuck on loading screen for 30 minutes, not even joking that's how long it takes me to load into a server

Just got a passive cooled GDDR5 version of this card for 5 bucks. What a steal! I built a whole SFF PC with an i5 (2nd gen, but still), 12 GB DDR3 RAM, 120 GB SSD and 500 HDD for under 30 bucks! I wonder for how much I flip it for, or if I should use it as an old game console emulator for our living room.

made it to diamond in apex on this. i played on 800x600, it took me a while to get used to but eventually i got the hang of it. i ended up upgrading to a 1660 ti but the gt 1030 added a sort of challenge/handicap that made every game feel more entertaining and sometimes aggravating. i couldnt play a lot of new games but its still better than no graphics card although not by much.

I have nothing but praise for this card. I have it in my HTPC. I've installed some older games, e.g. Dead Space 1,2,3.. Since it is connected to my 65" TV (3840x2160p), it actually plays those games at 4k at some playable framerates! It is an amazing little card for sure. Some other games that run really well at 1080p around medium details: (Diablo 2 Resurrected, Diablo 3, Diablo Immortal, Quake Champions.) emulators also run well but they are CPU bound.

VRAM is an issue of course, even iGPUs can access more RAM, but it's not the end of the world.

@Float Samples It should adjust automatically depending on how much RAM as VRAM the iGPU needs - unless there's not enough RAM of course. If it really doesn't adjust on its own and you have enough RAM to spare, usually there's an option in the BIOS. (depends on the board and BIOS how it is called, sry idk) But it's possible some custom OEM boards (I'd suspect Dell or HP for example) don't have this option.

Thank god that I did my research before buying a PC because there's this 1 PC shop in my area that sells a PC with GT 1030 4GB for one grand. Imagine buying that amount for a PC that can't even run Elden Ring at 720p let alone 1080p.

What kind of robbery store is that 🤣! Either the store sellers are Idiots and don’t know shit about PCs or the people are idiots for actually buying these at such ridiculous prices! Good job on doing research! Majority of people who buy PCs don’t know what the hell they’re getting due to lack of education on PC parts! In my area…there is a store which is selling an RTX 3060 PC for 1 grand. 3060 vs 1030 is a HUGE difference!

Thank goodness you aren't naive enough to get that. I've been pushing that waiting is the best practice instead of buying what ever you can right now. I got a AMD OC 6800 XT for $680 but it still had a sticker for $1349.99 from the peak. I've been wanting a PC but I knew better. I knew waiting was the best option and it paid off I got a big navi card beast for basically MSRP and didn't have to sacrifice performance. I know people want things today but waiting, checking the market pays off

I’ve had my 1030 for a year, until I literally just swapped it out for a 3060ti. It can play esports games at a decent frame rate, around 100 fps.

I have a 3080 Ti running in a PCIE 3.0x4 slot since my top slot is broken and can confirm it gets about 10 - 20% lower than it "should" in a lot of scenarios (especially at low settings or low render resolutions -- it'll just get the same or similar fps that it does at higher ones instead of the fps shooting up). Still gets 50s in cyberpunk though on 3440x1440 RT ultra settings and DLSS balanced.

It’s probably a cpu thing since Minecraft is more of a command game, you can basically have a potato as a gpu and it will still run if you have a good cpu

I built my first PC - light-gaming-and-officework, 768p 60fps - for about $580 in late 2020, not far into the crazy price hike on PC components. Found a GT 1030 for its MSRP of $80, and went with that (paired it with an A6-9500). At the time it was KILLER compared to the stuff I had used before... and to be honest, it's still really nice; it continues to surprise me with its performance. I don't regret my choice at all. But of course, times change; these days it has to keep up with my Ryzen 5 3600 to output to a 1080p@165Hz monitor, so with the video card price hike all but gone, I'm just waiting for the perfect opportunity to snap up an RX 6600. The 1030 clearly has a lot of fight left in it, so hopefully I can pass it on to a sibling or something.

No it's not, I use one and get better fps than he showed. These channels give false information and I've noticed they don't know what they are really talking about.

I’ve only owned a PlayStation for gaming the last 15 years so I just bought a dell sff with a gt1030 for 250 total and I love it. I own a ps5 so I wasn’t sure if I needed both

Currently playing forza horizon 5 on this card. (Zotac gt1030). And im Pretty satisfied dude. Medium setting and 1366*766 res @30fps. Playing valorant regularly, played witcher 3, fifa 19,21,22. Planing to buy a rtx card but again im @00% satisfied for its service❣️

Before new cyberpunk update i tested gt 1030 with lowest possible settings and use nvidia game drivers blurring the image technologies, and gain ~60 fps probably. That felt like it. I don't check fps with fps showing apps, cause i stupidly don't know any of those.

I owned before my Gtx 1650 and is not so bad if you get it for a really low price. For low end graphic games, oldies and emulators is a good gpu. Even to play some heavy games quite old as The Witcher 3 on 1080p with low graphics settings

the gt 1030 was my first gpu, it served me faithfully but yesterday I upgraded to a GTX 1650 and its fucking awesome being able to crank my graphics settings to max in the games I play. now i have my gt 1030 sitting in the gtx 1650's box and i have no clue what to do with that card, but nonetheless its amazing having something better than glorified integrated graphics

Using the exact same card, +200 core +1000 memory overclock. Plays all esports title 200+ fps for me just fine. Im thinking to upgrade to a 1080p monitor soon from a 720p and I want to try playing some older games. Fsr 2.0 should boost this card up a bit.... Ill just finish up older games first amd then move onto newer titles once i get a beast in the future🥱

I just grabbed one of these for $30 USD. I needed a low profile card for a 4th Gen i7 Lenovo SSF pc. It pairs really well with this system. While it won't play current games well it does work great for emulation, older titles and most of the GoG library! Now it is also a good streamer PC since I'm not using the onboard **cough** VGA **cough** connection. 🤣

From Palit gt 430 to Colorful gt 1030 ddr5 I can still run games like Valorant, MIR4, CS GO, Days Gone and more with proper tweaking, yeah It's playable, but now I'm planning to move on RX6400.

you can disable the shadows in cyberpunk 2077 config files, so it can run at more fps

I have a Ryzen 5 1st Gen sitting around in an old Mobo with ram. I just bought one of these to get it back up and running lol. It was 92$ new. I'm just gonna hook it up to an old TV to watch TV or do retro emulation. Decided to put those old parts to use than to just let them collect dust in a closet.

I got and a GT-1030 on a old board with Pcie 2.0 and it works great for for a AMD3/AMD3+ motherboards. Not everyone plays the newest video games.

i ended up getting an rx 550 4gb vram a while ago, just for the extra vram... now i'm considering to get a new monitor since 1440p gaming on the 550 is out of the question, and a new gpu will cost way too much (as an example: rtx 3060 goes for around 800$ used, prices have yet to go down...), if i ever have to upgrade, i'll probably get something around a 1650 low profile, since my pc can only handle low profile gpus. or wait for something newer with more vram

I used to own a GT 1030 and an AMD Athlon 3000g, w/ 8gb of ddr4. Man was that crazy, I'd run FiveM at like 30+ FPS and it was genuinely playable. It was a decent card for what i needed it for. Now I've got a 12GB 2060, and I can say that that was a bit of an upgrade.

Thx. I wondered the performance on the card under Windows. I have exactly the same card but i play on Linux & Steam (CS:Go) + Proton [Compatibility Layer] for win games (GTA5) On GtA 5 i have 75 fps but i'm playing on low 1080p , you probably have better fps in Windows ? or maybe your ryzen 9 5900X makes a huge difference over the Ryzen 3 3100 ? Anyway more performance in windows :(
