I actually like the copyright friendly lore portrayed here. "Guardians", Dragons, dimension hopping demons, poorly understood technology that runs on flesh. Its actually pretty cool. Almost feels like a very distant offshoot of Destiny mixed with DA. This could be developed into something neat all its own.

just installed DAI for a new playthrough also from the UK I can confirm that Skegness is indeed a shithole its worse than Kirkwall because no magic or dragons or Fenrir and Varic plus the pubs suck so bad like not even in an enduring way they just serve piss instead of beer

why do harrowing happen? im not sure there is an in universe answer for this that i have found? as its not like it prevents them from becoming possessed in the future or somthing i don't know help pls

i know this is from a while ago, but theres actually a few reasons. 1. its a way to give mages a reason to volunteer to be tranquil. if there wasnt the fear of failing the harrowing, almost no one would volunteer to be lobotomized, and then the circles and the chantry wouldnt have the slave labor of the tranquil to exploit. 2. it tests a mages endurance. it doesnt prevent future possessions, but it shows that they do have the ability to resist a potential possession. 3. it gives the chantry a justifiable reason to kill mages, "thinning the herd" and keeps the "dangerous minority" a minority. it also can be used as a fear tactic!
