The Guvernment is and was North America's longest running Entertainment Complex in North America.
The final weekend featured a 3 day non stop party featuring headliners Knife Party, Armin Van Buuren, and Deadmau5.
Watch and join us in celebration of what would have been the 19th anniversary weekend of ‪‎The Guvernment‬ Entertainment Complex. As we close one chapter, INK Entertainment is excited to once again redefine the nightlife scene in Toronto and North America by creating a world-class, state-of-the-art entertainment destination in the former Sound Academy space. Believe it or not, I was the first DJ to perform at the Guvernment night club. It's a little known fact, that while Mark Oliver played opening night on the Friday, I played a fashion show for Agnes Pec's Gotterdammerung label the night before on Thursday. True story!

Being 27 years old, this was the era right before I really started to party and I can’t help but feel I missed out on a magical time in Toronto…everything has been sold to commercial development and corporate interest with no soul or character. On the bright side, there’s been a huge resurgent rave scene in the city which I’m glad to be a part of

RPM is what made that spot legendary. As a big party venue, it was kinda wack, sorry...it was suburbia on the weekend, the mall crowd. Industry was my spot, amongst many others.

It was nice to be part of the beginning of that place, after RPM I never in my wildest dreams thought Guv would be such an amazing success...and i remember Charles restaurant served the best salmon I ever tasted. Good times....literally

The day I started working there as a busboy it was Fresh, then got promoted to doing lightning with DJ Chris Sheppard and the club became RPM Nightclub and then later... The Guvernment.

I can tell Khabouth had Rebel probably all figured out at this point. He must've made ridiculous money off the sale of the property to condo developers and just moved the revenue stream he had from Guv to the docks. The guy's life should be a case study in MBA programs.

They didnt own the land, it was on lease and the city decided not to let the Guv renew it cause they wanted condo's instead.

Nightclubs and other cool venues provide and make up the culture and the amazing vibe of an area, it's what gives the area its soul, once you tear it down and build condos there, you lose everything that made the area amazing, it's fukin sad, condo culture is BS !!!!

I have a lot of fond memories in that building (guvernment/coolhaus)thankfully Charles created rebel/cabana/veld to take its place. Nothing can compare to that building though, it's paved over with lame condos now. RIP Guvernment.

sadly all the dj's who went to the guv on sat were in mtl on friday and got so fucked up all toronto got was drugged up dj's who could barely function and certianly couldnt mix a dj set. pathetic
