Redeeming Aunt Lydia is kind of hard to believe. She had Janine's eye taken out. She burned women on hot stoves, tortured them mercilessly, but she was on their side the whole time? Nah, No one who really detested it could have gone that far.

I can see it. All these people were forced to lose their humanity. She “took care” of her hand maids the only way she could. I like seeing Serena and Lydia getting their humanity back.

Serena is a fascinating character -- she's a True Believer who had her nose rubbed in the actual workings of Gilead and finally sees it for the fascist, male-dominated dictatorship it's become. Serena now understands that Gilead is nothing but a fantasy, a doll house populated and furnished with wish-fulfillment and make-believe.

I don't agree with Moira not being as relevant with Emily gone. Moira was a moral anchor for June when June began to spin out of control. She is like the consciousness of survivors and the hope for recovery from the experience. She is the protector which was learning; significant lessons such as when she violated a boundary to bring back June from Gilliad.

I cant wait to see how it all ends...I loved when they showed June's daughter sign her name as Hannah on her drawing... that shows she knows who she is and will maybe resist like June did.I really hope out of this story they are reunited. Serena don't care she needs to be locked up lol.

I thought in Season Five that the other Aunts would believe that Lydia's protection towards Janine was due to lesbianism, causing Aunt Lydia to finally see that 'saving' someone's soul was not by forcing women to go through sexual slavery but by helping them be free, leading to her trying to send Janine to safety.

Once people get a certain amount of power -- power being far more addictive than heroin -- saving "souls" becomes irrelevant. There's a dangerous point when power becomes essential for its own sake, and those hooked on it can never get enough. Serena's final wake-up call to the horror that Gilead had become was discovering how easily Noah could be taken from her, in the same way handmaids' babies had been stolen from them. The leaders of Gilead will literally do ANYTHING to silence this dangerous woman, including killing everyone around her, if that's what it takes.

Well if she doesn't rescue Hannah the whole series will be a disappointment, that's ultimately the ending that has to unfold to make her super-humanism character worth it!

But for example Katniss does everything to save her sister but in the end prim doesn’t make it, and that made the story sure on the one hand very unsatisfying for us viewers but also brings the story even more to reality saying that even though you’re fighting with your best will you can lose

It was much better before June’s transformation into Wonder Woman. She was more likable when she was less bad ass. It’s getting to the point of going too far in what she’s capable of doing. The early seasons we always held out breathe and we’re relieved when she would get out of a situation or even getting caught at times- believable. Now it’s like oh okay June will just channel her super powers again.

If they try to turn Aunt Lydia into a good guy that would be so fake. She loved every minute of what she was doing and truly believed it. Before Gilead when she turned on that mother and had her child taken away proves Gilead had nothing to do with her evil heart. It will be unbelievable if they try to make her into a savior of sort.

I hope the writers’ strike comes to an end and a deal is made soon. I don’t know how much longer I can wait for the sixth season. This whole thing is also affecting Cobra Kai another I’ve been streaming. That show is also waiting it’s sixth and final season. Although unlike The Handmaid’s Tale, Cobra Kai will release all of it’s final final season at once like they have with their previous seasons. Cobra Kai will likely be the show I finish first since all their new episodes will be available right away while The Handmaid’s Tale will have theirs spread out over like four months

I can not wait! This programme by far is the best I’ve watched for years; I recorded all 5 series; and randomly watch a favourite episode when I can; all the actors were brilliant in there roles; I’m just hoping June and nick; rescue Hannah ; then run off together ; with Nicole ; and live a long and happy life; sorry luke; you can marry Rita; and live happily ever after; serena; she has her baby took off her by giliad; and is made a handmaid ; until she’s sent to the colonies; where she meets up with a haggard old woman; who turns out to be aunt Lydia THE END

Sorry to tell you, but the strike is not expected to end at least until the new year which means production won’t start until then, which means six, nine months, maybe a year for the new season unless they can really hustle.

Alucinante el final de la 5 temporada, el inesperado reencuentro entre June y Serena , en el que intercambian unas palabras y pañales por que estaban ambas con sus hijos , parecia ña conversación inicio de un cambio en el trato de ambas , aunque es imposible ya que June no perdonara a Serena por las cosas que le hizo . Luego por otra parte la gradual redención de la tia Lidia para salvar a Jannine pero es nulo ya que las otras tias la presionan para qie Jannine fuese criada en la casa de otro comandante como el Lawrence y la otra que no me acuerdo . Lawrence con el paso del tiempo durante la serie se volvió muy a la normativa Gileana por el otro comandante McKenzie

I've only just started watching the show I didn't realize it was set in the future, I though it was in old England lol, I've watched the 1st season and found it harrowing the way women are treated and have no rights or life, sort of how women in some countries are treated today, could happen in the USA with all religions zealots there and taking their rights away, we should honor women for their achievements and be proud of them not beat them up, take away their reperductive rights, pay them equally, lets face it we guys would be Fooked without them

Now they are saying this season 6 will not be aired until 2025. They are first in production this summer. WHY? It was American screen writers who went on strike. There are writers in Canada> By the time 5 does air it will be forgotten as a series. This will be a dead season because of the stupid covid nonsense and the stupid strikes by folks who make more money than God now.

This is more about men and their attitude that women are nothing but baby machines. The feeling that being so wealthy makes one a better parent is stupid. I was raised with God fearing parents and they had rules. But I never was told by either of them that I had to grow up to be a mommy and nothing else mattered. THAT is not what I was nor was I ever willing to hurt anyone due to the color of their skin or the way they eat. The greed for more money is a mankind thing. Politics aside, ALL men feel superior ro women. It is the way they were brought up.

The writers strike affected more than just all the rich, it also meant increases for the people behind the scenes. Yes, lead roles and popularity do make for absurd signing bonuses. They have likely been advised not to air right before an election with such hotbed issues as the similarity between certain politic-l p-rties 🐘 and Gilead...

@@Dobviews Well now I know why Liz Moss did not put that ahead of her. She had a baby at the end of the 5th season. Before they knew there would be a writers strike. Also the series she is now in on HULU was written by a foreign concern. Not done in the US. Many writers around the world were called on to do the writing for American shows.

Statistics show that over 5000 women in my area of the country were impregnated as a result of sexual assaults. And we don't have any clinics here. No one, especially a child who is a victim of a family member should have to give birth!

I think it was a poor excuse and lazy writing: afar as not doing more with Rita & Moriah. Am surprised that Elisabeth Moss didn't speak up on that; since she was producing and directing at times. You can always bring in New writers who could put some extra life into the characters. That being said, I look forward to seeing next season and aunt Lydia character. The New testament should be very interesting.

I think Atwood tries to write based on things that have happened. It is well known that many slaves and those who have experienced dictatorship or theocracies have also taken comfort in religion. It is human nature. Similar to Stockholm syndrome perhaps.
