I like this. Gives it a kind of folk vibe. Like something you'd do at a bonfire late at night. Someone has a guitar, someone's singing, someone is tapping the beat on a box or bucket or something...I just love that whole visual.

This song has nada to do with this movie AT ALL..used inappropriately and a dance mix of this shit is utterly ridiculous and uber inappropriate..who got hung in this movie? There was no particular tree the chosen or volunteers met under

"the pop version of “The Hanging Tree” makes me so uncomfortable because it’s exactly what the Capitol would do to neutralize the power of that song- they’d set it to a dance beat and play it on the radio until the lyrics lost all meaning" "You mean like reality" "every fucking post thats even remotely related to the hunger games becomes so real i have to stop and think about my entire life." "which is exactly the purpose of the books" A conversation witnessed on tumblr that is so true

There was another book with a similar theme that came out in the 90's where rock and "decadent" music were outlawed because the government thought that music from free countries would give people the wrong ideas. So the two kids that survived and ran from the killing competition in that series developed an affinity for it. That gives me the feeling that "expressive" music, whether it be rock or pop, wouldn't fly to well. That's just an idea, but I like your idea that they might try to trivialize it. I'd just been thinking it would outright be banned.
@eTurnitE4Life9 жыл бұрын
from the book ". At the beginning, it sounds like a guy is trying to get his girlfriend to secretly meet up with him at midnight. But it's an odd place for a tryst, a hanging tree, where a man was hung for murder. The murderer's lover must have had something to do with the killing, or maybe they were just going to punish her anyway, because his corpse called out for her to flee. That's weird obviously, the talking-corpse bit, but it's not until the third verse that "The Hanging Tree" begins to get unnerving. You realize the singer of the song is the dead murderer. He's still in the hanging tree. And even though he told his lover to flee, he keeps asking if she's coming to meet him. The phrase "Where I told you to run, so we'd both be free" is the most troubling because at first you think he's talking about when he told her to flee, presumably to safety. But then you wonder if he meant for her to run to him. To death. In the final stanza, it's clear that that's what he's waiting for. His lover, with her rope necklace, hanging dead next to him in the tree. ...I used to think the murderer was the creepiest guy imaginable. Now, with a couple of trips to the Hunger Games under my belt, I decide not to judge him without knowing more details. Maybe his lover was already sentenced to death and he was trying to make it easier. To let her know he'd be waiting. Or maybe he thought the place he was leaving her was really worse than death..."

About 3/4 of the way through The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This song takes on a whole new meaning. It's a prequel to The Hunger Games. A friend just told me about it a couple days ago. I've been nose-deep, so to speak, reading and reading.

I actually really like this mix. Apart from the original soundtrack version, it sounds the most like what i think the people in the districts would sing with the instruments. Especially if it was just the drums in the background. It's not like all the pop mixes going around that sound like what the Capitol would produce.

While the movie version gives me chills everytime, I really like this version as well. It was put together well and compliments the original while enticing the listener to look up the original... Of course, this is just my opinion, and in no way, shape, or form am I trying to say that there's no reason to dislike the song. Opinions are opinions, whether agreed upon or not.

The radio version takes away the sadness of the original, and that's no fun, is it?
@nikoriley14589 жыл бұрын
So true
@TheDeathmail9 жыл бұрын
Ya know, the original version still exists, and this still has a hint of sadness within it. Also, that's how music works and is the beauty of this song. It's such a raw song which can easily be remixed to make another amazing song. The radio version isn't taking anything way, it's just giving more to enjoy. The radio version is still showing a hint of sadness, but showing a version that's more excited as well...... Don't try to box music like that, it's the same way people tried to hate on Jazz when it was new, for "taking away" from their songs, how the Jazz generation then claimed the rock generation was "ruining" their music, and the generations every 10 years would claim how the music of the later decade was taking away from music. But music isn't like that. Making new versions of something isn't taking away anything, it's just adding more. You could still listen to the original version and nobody will stop you, and it isn't like anyone will force you to listen to the remix either. Not everyone can enjoy all things, but we should understand that music isn't this box that we try to wrap it around, it is an evolving art form that takes from the past and adds to create something new.Music throws nothing away, rather it recreates what already exists.

These types of movies like 'The Hunger Games', 'Maze Runner', 'Divergent' they kind of scare me and I'm not gonna lie and not in the sence that it makes me jump with fear, on the contrary i love these types of movies but I feel like their bringing out more and more movies like this because one day something similar will happen xc that's just me but I could be paranoid.

You're not being paranoid this is exactly what's happening to our society under the surface. Shit is brewing and we need to stay strong we need to unite better and we need to be not so easily controlled. I am not scared cause I am in the knowing knowledge is power. Now are you gonna fight or become part of the sheep?
@DJbassrevolution9 жыл бұрын
The world is already heading this way, the people with the money are the real ones with power in our society. As corrupt and evil as our governments are they are nothing compared to the ones with the real power, they are simply puppets for the ruling elite, the oligarchy, the man behind the curtain whatever you want to call them. Many may blow this off as conspiracy theory but it's the truth and our world is headed for something far more horrific and disgusting then most could ever imagine. These people (if I can even call them that monsters would be a more accurate description) are sociopaths who see people as nothing more then animals and are slowly shaping the world with their will. Do you really think the systematic removal of our freedom of speech, freedom to assemble, right to bear arms, our protection from wrongful imprisonment, our right to a trial of our peers, or our other rights and freedoms are being taken away out of coincidence or to protect us? No it's all planned and the world is heading towards a world that would make the hunger games and 1984 look like paradise.
