While a funny story, he didn’t actually die. That was just added to the end of a poem. Also, the original distance wasn’t 26 miles. That wasn’t the standard marathon distance until the 20th century.

Great accomplishment! My favorite race is a half marathon. It's a serious race but doesn't take as much wear and tear on the body as a full marathon. The prep is shorter, and I can still maintain my weight training and martial arts goals. One day, I plan on completing a full marathon, though. Just to say I did it. Congratulations bro 👏

I ran the Brighton marathon in the UK a few months back - my very first one. My back was spazzing out after the 27km mark, 15km in crazy pain that I didn’t know what to do with 😂 copped a 4:01 time, difference with that run compared to others - there was no runners high at the finish, just fucking relief! My guess the reason why you had so many injuries setbacks was because your initial goal was too fast which meant all your training runs was too fast. If you had picked 4:30 as a goal at the start so your runs were slower, you likely won’t have been injured as much as thus had better results. Many beginner runners have this issue where they think running is about ‘giving it your all’ on every run which is just not the case. This leads to more injuries and burnout. The key is actually to have a couple ‘harder’ runs a week and easy runs the rest so your body can recover.

Do it gradually. Not start with a marathon. I, do not respect people that do not train and then run more like walk a marathon in 6 hours. Its bad for the body and not a great achievement. First train properly and start with shorter distances and build up to a marathon. Join an running club if available.

@SyNcLife
@SyNcLife Ай бұрын
Congratulations!!! Really felt that. (Did my first Marathon in 3:59:58) But... I think you should have adjusted your training plan when you discovered you need more recovery. Fuck plans, apply Pareto! Wanna finish? Focus on the long runs, you don't need much more. They train your ability to not rely on carbs. (I ran my fastest marathon in Keto!) Wanna finish in a given pace? Add intervalls. And yes, they hurt on a holistic level, but nothing is more effectivly bringing you speed. You're a sporty guy, I bet you don't need more training than 2 long runs and 3 intervall trainings a MONTH. Keep it simple. Bonus: stretch! Like half an hour each day. Will make your joints and muscles smoother and you will feel a lot less friction when running. Everything seeems a lot easier, almost effortless. Hope your run one more! (Probably are addicted to that finishing smile anyways ;)

Congratu;ations! You are officially a marathon runner. However, in this video you have presented also things that should be avoided if if health is a priority. The running plan is just a hint, not strict rules to follow. If your body tells you that it is too much then it is. Otherwise,it is straight way to get injury. "Goggins mode" will not help. The 6 months plan for marathon if you are not a runner is way too short. Why I know that it is not good? Because I'm guilty all of these ;)

Congratulations....I have no doubt 30 years from now you will look back on this as the crowning physical achievement of your life. I know I do. I ran the LA marathon two years in a row, with the same 4hr goal. I was 180lbs. My running posse averaged between 145-155lbs. Back then, anyone 180lbs+ were classified as "Clydesdales", a moniker I wore proudly. The key to running a marathon is having the ability for your mind to switch channels to another world so you aren't focusing on the abuse you are taking. My first year was a disaster. I got way to hopped up on energy drinks and my attention span dropped to about 5 seconds so all I could focus on was every painful step. Came in at 4:55. I was really determined the second year, skipped the energy drinks and just alternated between water and Gatorade at the aid stations. Got to mile 23 at 3:30....all I had to do was three ten-minute miles and 4 hours was mine. I then felt a sharp twinge in my right the hamstring, and I had to walk the last 3 miles, finishing at 4:20. Not bad for a Clydesdale. Each marathon is different. For LA mile 23 is the wall. I joke to this day that mile 23 was like a Civil War field hospital....the streets were littered with body parts. An arm over here, a leg over there. Everyone falls apart there. I saw runners just sitting on the curb with their face in their hands. One of my buds went into a local store and bought a banana before proceeding on. Everyone does whatever they can to finish those last three miles. Great video, congratulations, and thanks for the trip down memory lane.

It's enough to run 2x per week 10-20 km with at least 2 rest days (for your legs) between to see instant improvement and to be prepared for marathon. Your training schedule is bad. Sprinting 800m you can include in your long run, sprinting the last kilometer/mile before finish. Never run 2 days in a row. Respect your body's limits, else you will suffer from pain and injury. Never train endurance and strength on the same day. Secret hint: Eat/drink beetroot to lower blood pressure and exhaustion, before you start to run.
