Hardy boy's fans will know from the style/font of the last still of the title that this is based on the hardy boy's case files which are more adult/teenage centric except they went with much younger actors which is very odd

I actually was quite confused too until I watched the first episode and it was great. The siblings although much younger and had a wide age gap, they were actually quite mature and not cringy.

After watching the series, and being a reader of the books every summer when I was a child, I must say I am a fan of this series. At first, I thought Frank and Joe were too young, however, I decided to work with it. It is a great take on a classic series while mixing in the ambience of series like ¨Stranger Things¨. The interaction/relationship between Frank and Joe is priceless.

After Nancy Drew was a massive hit for The CW it makes sense for Hulu to do The Hardy Boys! This looks like a fun mystery for the holidays!

Aw I'm a little disappointed that Joe is younger than his book counterpart however I love seeing younger/more age-appropriate actors on screen. I'm looking forward to watching this

Yeah... in the vintage books, they started investigating at 15 and 16, then gradually aged up to 17 and 18. This looks like they started with Joe around 13 and Frank about 19, and that's.... weird to me.

Why the huge age difference?? The nerd/jock dynamic of same-aged brothers was something that made the books more entertaining to read... I'm just glad they didn't do a Riverdale and sexy the two up (*cough*Nancy drew *cough*)

its not much Joe is 12/13 in the series and Frank is 16. But yah the age difference threw me off at first. Both actors are good though and they have great chemistry.

for 2020, i think it plays better to have them further apart in age. plus, in general there's a lot more you can do with an older brother, younger brother dynamic. i think it's a good call.

@@itis9555 I really don’t see how 2020 applies to this, but brothers can still have a sibling dynamic when they’re a year a part. Considering their dynamic is pretty much they’re brothers who work together and are near opposites. That has nothing to do with age

Just watched the first 4 episodes, very well done. and it takes place in the 80s so the kids aren't permanently stuck to their cell phones. Has a great Stanger things Vibe. I am 44 so I grew up with the Hardy Boys books along with my parents. The age difference of the brothers is off but they make it work.

I guess they decided to set it in c.1990 to avoid having to deal with the Internet and smartphones. The series also has some good '80s music as a result.

When u are used to the age gaps in the books consider they were only eleven months or something, it' funny to place Joe as 12 Joe could have been atleast 15 and Frank could have 18 if they wanted a larger age gap ,there is is huge difference between being 12 and 15 and 17

To the producers of the Hardy boys, people watch these shows to see characters they love come to life, not be reinvented. I don’t know why you feel the need to always put your own creative spin on something that’s already been created, and is beloved by many.

Wow this looks good! I'm really gonna watch it. Also I like that they make Joe Hardy much younger. It makes him more relatable to kids oh his age who wants to be on a mystery adventure. I mean it's really rare for a kid on his age to be part of this kind of Teenage thrill drama mystery series that mostly consist of Highschoolers like the other tv series like Riverdale, Vampire Diaries and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. That's why it's very refreshing to see one to be part of it.

I remember reading a book titled Hardy brothers from my Dad's collection of novels back then in Primary. The book was too enticing, thrilling and adventure filled to ask for a movie. My movie guy had a poster advert on this series. Am sure to add it to my watch list 📃.

When I was 4th grade my classroom had the entire Hardy Boys collection. It was actually owned by our teacher, not the school. We could check them out at her desk and return them for the next. I was the only one who ever did read them. At the end of the year, she GAVE them to me. All of them. It was over 35 I think. I was speechless. It turned out she retired and we were her last class. I cherished those things. I wish I still had them

Two brothers solving a mystery, it gets that part correct. Just the age difference is a bit off, instead of one it's like four. Also frank is the athletic one and Joe is the smart one, so they switched that.

@@mrsj1417 No, they can choose a 25 year old if he looks younger, but someone that is so obviously so much older, it just ruins the immersion. Plenty of 20 year olds are mature and can act, could’ve cast one of those instead someone so much older, there are no shortage of actors.

I can't tell you how much my inner child just screamed. I LOVE THE HARDY BOYS!!!!! I love the gritty aspects of the new show. Hopefully they do better than the trash that is Nancy Drew(CW). I just hope they can balance seriousness and light-heartedness. I would hate for this show to go goofy, but I would also hate if it went a really dark and depressing route. I remember reading The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew when I was little, and I'm really excited that my little brothers will be able to have their own experiences now.

@@somi6725 It's more my personal perspective. You don't have to believe it but I do. Nancy Drew's story progression was very poorly paced in my opinion. Dialogue is either too cheesy or just really bad in general. Character growth was just as inconsistent and paced weird as well. And honestly Hardy Boys isn't doing so well either. The first season's tone was odd. Consistently shifting whenever the plot needed it to shift. Right off the ripp they set a very "directed towards kids" kind of tone, then they put them through a very dark and serious incident. They introduced are dark serious tone, and when this was introduced the show didn't take seriously when came to having the characters deal with what happend. Dark serious tone could've worked well on it's own. Light hearted kid friendly tone could've worked on it's own, but having the two mixed together takes a very talented writer to be able to balance and the writer the show has is mediocre at best.

This show is actually phenomenal. My past self has read many a hardy boys book, which were typically bland and predictable. This series is nothing of the sort. The first season is pretty darn good taking the concepts of the books and giving it a completely new twist. The second season takes that twist and makes infinitely more interesting. I couldn't recommend the show enough.

If your opinion of the books was the majority, they never would’ve been the cultural phenomenon they are. It’s not hard to understand why so many were disappointed in the re-imagination of Frank and Joe.

I think they want to appeal to different age groups. Teens and tweens, and as the series progresses through the years their target audience will grow up with the characters.

It was great. Take it for what it is and don’t compare it to the books. Very very engaging.
