Tegan Gigante is a Central Victorian poet, a radio host on Castlemine's MAINfm, a publisher, performer-and a convener of poetry recitals and philosophy lectures. Under her publishing name, Birdfish Books, she ‘creates books to nourish the mind and heart’.
Harry Oldmeadow was, until his retirement, Coordinator of Philosophy and Religious Studies at La Trobe University, Bendigo. Harry has written, edited, and published many books, and his principal interests include the spiritual interactions of East and West, the perennial philosophy, environmental philosophy and primordial traditions. His reflections on these topics have inspired and informed the stories in ‘Closer than Breathing, Seven Tales’.
Kain White holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from LaTrobe university with his main study areas in drawing and printmaking. He has exhibited in Melbourne and Sydney as well as various regional galleries. Aside from a focus in painting and printmaking, White also works in animation, illustration and education.
Writer R.I. Sutton grew up in the Harcourt region of Central Victoria, Australia. She has been both a student and teacher of creative writing. Her work has appeared in ‘Glint’, ‘Zahir’, ‘Lalitamba’ and ‘Kalimat’ literary journals and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize (best works published and selected by an American small press). She currently resides in Castlemaine, a town in Central Victoria.
In 2016 R.I.Sutton set out to produce her 136-page short story collection using only traditional bookmaking techniques. She dubbed this endeavor ‘The Harebrained Press Project’. Over the seven years that followed, Sutton learnt hand typesetting, letterpress printing, paper marbling and bookbinding. With the support of her partner, artist Kain White-who created the book’s images-Sutton used these skills to craft her limited-edition volume ‘Closer than Breathing, Seven Tales’.
