Strange and Sinister

Күн бұрын

In this video, I visit Bloods Point road in Boone County, Illinois and share the scary stories surrounding the bridge and cemetery. Bloods Point is one of the most popular "haunted" roads in Illinois due to its long history of urban legends including mysterious hell hounds, a witch, and an alleged tragedy at the bridge. The cemetery is also said to be haunted, but most locals consider the ghost stories to be myths.
I also cover the legend of Witch Beulah and where the story originated. Bloods Point road is named after Arthur Blood, who was the first white settler to arrive in Flora Township in the 1830's. The Blood family lived on a farm not from the cemetery. The "point" portion of the name comes from a "point of timber" that stood near the family's farm.

My home village has a very high bridge. A tragic car accident happened at the Tall Bridge in about 1977. Three men were drinking and driving and went over the bridge. The car was smashed on impact in the creek below. They were not found until three days later. The old bridge was replaced by a new one. The old one is used for walking and taking in the rugged terrain. We sometimes go there at night to watch and listen to wildlife. Sometimes, you can see glowing animal eyes on the cliffs. Owls can hoot very loud on a full moon.

So sad that even the dead can't rest in peace. Whoever vandalizes a cemetery is a lowlife. The urban legend of the car being pushed across the train tracks was used in the movie "Fingerprints". i think there's probably a kernel of truth to these stories, but they have been told so many times that, most likely, people have been taking a lot of liberties to make them more interesting. Enjoyed your video. Keep up the good work.👍

Last year, Halloween Night. I was with my sister Dawn and a group of friends. We traveled to Bloods Point Road just for fun. Me, being easily sensitive to the spirits, entered the cemetery. I started to feel eyes on me as we stood close to the graves. It was like the undead was surrounding us in the bushes. Then on the road, I kept feeling like we were being watched again. The bridge especially was an interesting feeling. Creepy as hell.

I can believe phones and electronics acting up in the cemetery. Happened to me before. Had my phone battery drain from about 30% to completely while I was walking through a cemetery taking pics and then by the time I walked out of there, I managed to get my phone back on and there was still enough battery life to last me my walk home. Very familiar with that area, if I had a dime for every time I've been on Blds Pt, I would have a ton collected by now. I have a relative that is just up the road on Pearl St not far from the cemetary. I have not really witnessed really anything all that strange out there other then maybe the thrill seekers lurking in the area. Close to Blds Pt, just down from the bridge is Wheeler rd, and from there Sweeny rd. There is also legend that is connected with Sweeny rd also.

Great recounting, and I appreciate the depth of research you carried out. I've always found long country roads through sparsely populated land fascinating, especially mesmerizing at night, and so I can understand why some people would consider Bloods Point Road to be haunted. Interesting that you could find no trace of a School Bus accident at the bridge. Thanks for the ride along, much appreciated.

Been to Bloods Point cemetery and road several times with friends when I was a teenager and it was perfectly fine. We were not chased by any of the things associated with Bloods Point - cult members, hell hounds or an old pickup truck with one head light. I had an ex-boyfriend who apparently with his friends in the late 80’s would sometimes ride their bikes out to the cemetery at night, hide and scare the crap out of other teenagers thrill seeking there. This happened before I met him, but knowing him I believe he did this. Also, have you heard about Twin Sisters Park in Rockford? It’s mainly known for sledding, but it is haunted. Lot of weird activity - mists in photos, weird energy, shadow figures. There is a supposed “hanging tree”. Not sure if people were really hung there, but we did get a 40 deg drop in temperature using thermal sensor when pointed at the tree compared to any of the surrounding trees and area. When you put your hand on the tree, you could feel it vibrate.

There use to be a house on that road, it was abandoned. It was said to be the house of the "witch" though no one really knew. It definitely had an eerie vibe to it especially at night because there was one single light post on the property and it shined on part of the house and that's it. I had gone there a couple of times with some friends while I was in high school, and it always gave me the creeps but that was right up my ally. Either my senior year or shortly after graduating (around 2018), the house was gone. No one really knew what happened to it. From what I heard though, it randomly went up in flames with no explanation as to how. I also heard that it just vanished out of no where. It was there one minute and the next it was gone. There is also something about how if you drive over the bridge like 5 times then there would be a ghost truck that appeared and it would follow you. My friends and I tried this, and I shit you not, a truck pulled out of no where and started actually following us. It was an old truck too. At first we had thought that it was just a coincidence until we kept making specific turns and it just kept following us. Eventually, I had turned my head or looked in the review mirror ( I don't remember if I was driving or in the back seat) and it was gone, just like that. No road for it to turn onto as far as I was aware. I'm not making this up but I'm also not saying it wasn't just a crazy coincidence. Whatever it was though, freaked me the hell out. Great video though, not a lot of videos about this place!
@StrangeandSinister1
@StrangeandSinister1 5 ай бұрын
That would definitely be scary. I know the road and cemetery is watched due to vandalism, so it could have been a local, but if the vehicle vanished, that's a different story. I think the abandoned house you're referring to was the house of a woman who lost it due to foreclosure and it became a party house. Someone threw a lime bike on the roof. Locals wanted the house torn down. There's a news article about it. I'm not sure if that's the house you're referring to but it might be.

2:00 i think a Syfy channel tested this theory and found that the angle of the road was pointed downward and the surrounding land had a positive incline,, making it seem like the car was being pushed up but really gravity was doing all the world. I cannot recall if they found the little handprints on the back of the car,, I don't think so, but it's worth checking out. It could be another legend for another bus accident somewhere else in the country.

The bridge slopes down on both sides to allow water to drain off. Maybe the decline caused a vehicle to move parked in neutral or something. But I think the bridge stories are just urban legends that have been taken from other locations like Munger road.

Looks like a haunted spot in Colorado. It's always a school bus accident in these stories. There's a place near where I live where the topography of the land gives the optical illusion that cars move uphill while in neutral.

I wonder if the local county would like to generate revenue on the sales of the street signs of bloods point, as a souvenir. Because they would. The old cemetery could be captured on high res photos and cataloged for preservation. It could be available online, as well.

Do a video on the Anon Rd. Horrors? Please,😮😊 Thank you. Lol 😂. Initially read about it once in a book entitled 'Haunted Railways & Highway Horrors', think was the title? Lol.😮. Just a really creepy story, also Highway route 666,(extremely creepy) & a story from the 19th to early 20th century of a perpetually destitute man who was constantly cared for, supported by rich well off benefactors, so ate & had room & board & carried on in parties & receptions upon being invited. Upon passing there,s legend about his ghost being see in town on the streets he roamed, something about him playing cards with his rich friends then passing away , him not being able to afford proper burial, only modest pauper's grave. So his rich buddies made sure he had decent funeral buried in nice coffin ⚰ 😅. Or something like that 😅. Lol. 😊.
