I stand by my original, if typo’d, comment. If you can’t find good music in this day and age, it’s not the music. It’s you. Step away from the radio... do a deep dive on the bands you like from (I’m guessing no later than the 80’s at most) the time period of your choice and see who cites them as influences, and give those groups a listen. “Marketing” is for large labels and pop music. There are literally millions of artists/groups who don’t have a major label, and don’t do pop music. You my friend, need to open your mind and stop being lazy.

I listen to an adult alternative station in Southern California, and have done so for years now. It's amazing, I hear a great new song on the radio and think to myself, who can that be? Many times it is The Head and the Heart. They never seem to disappoint.
