Nit knowing what is really in commercially prepared foods and also not being able to trust the labels, is why I grow my own food and can, freeze and dehydrate it. My health has improved dramatically.

My comment is based on an experience of more than ten years ago, however, following the recommendation of an ND, I cut back on grains and mostly removed them from my diet. My experience? Though purely anecdotal, the result was a general reduction in inflammation and the elimination of rosacea.

This is so interesting, thank you. I’m in the U.K. and around 25 years ago, in London, I took a course in nutrition . At the time, one of the tutors talked extensively about leaky gut and the fact that back then, few Western doctors would even acknowledge it! It was such an eye opener. For reasons you have touched upon, we have good reason here in the U.K. to be worried that now we have left the EU , we will no longer be protected from some of worst U.S food imports and practices. I think no matter how or what you eat regularly, top up with the best quality dark leafy greens you can afford and your gut will thank you and try and protect you 🌞

@@thespartanphysique Dr. Furhman's mistake was he didn't follow human evolution from the beginning so he missed what we were prior to grains such as wheat, rye, barely and oats prior to 10,000 years ago. These grains were great for allowing us to convert from hunter gatherers to living in one location and thus growing from small groups to villages, cities, empires, countries etc. But, these grains were not our natural foods. We are primates eating two leaf plants, meat occasionally, tubers, fruits etc. So this change caused humans to have diseases like heart disease, diabetes, cancer autoimmune diseases and as we further processed our foods it became far worse. It's about understanding who we are and where we came from over the last 40 million years.

Don't stress too much about this A Morgan. They are over complicating the foods and how they impact you. Stick with majority whole foods. They are more satiating and nutrient dense. Make sure you are eating 1g of protein per lb of body weight and then also resistance training. That's a super great start. Then you can start to identify if certain foods don't digest well for you. This doctor in his ad on KZfaq recommends eating over 8,000 calories a week in olive oil (approx.) That's a sure fire way to gain weight.

So is it the lectins in wheat that are bad for you or the glyphosate? Europeans are fine using wheat flour for pasta and breads and are not affected by lectins, but in the US, where our wheat is sprayed, several times btw, with glyphosate, we get leaky gut. I’m a little confused about the lectins consumed in Europe.

Due to high blood sugar, I'm following a low carb lifestyle. I relax the rules if dining out. I buy low carb bread, might have one or two slices a day. I make a delicious keto oatmeal. It's not going to work if it's too strict. If I reduce the portion, I can eat more foods. I occasionally have half a cup of cooked pasta fleshed out with sautéed mushrooms and peppers, etc. I don't eat rice or potatoes and avoid refined carbohydrates. Not too difficult, a 40 pound weight loss in five months.

@jwenting

because the hunger pangs caused by that food (through the fructose-ureum cycle mostly) overwhelm the pain and cause you to eat. And the insulin resistance that is just about inevitable causes far more fat to be deposited than would be the case in a healthy individual. I switched from a "standard" diet to strict carnivore 2 months ago, after a transition period of a few months on keto, and I now eat a third of what I used to eat and don't feel hungry when before I was constantly hungry. I've also lost 20kg of weight in that same period.

@@taradikoff123 Actually yes. Contrary at what was believed, ketones provide much less fuel than thought, but they work as signals to promote the uncoupling of the mitochondria, and by doing so, the mitochondria "spend" as heat the fats without giving us the energy production in return. And although it may look not very interesting, when the mitochondria are surpassed, a signal to released the pressure from the inside is really nice. Dr. Gundry explains making a comparison with a crowded entertainment venue, where you can no longer flirt or sell drinks. The guards arrive and open the emergency doors, and they take everyone out, and then they let those in line back in again in order.

@@taradikoff123 I wouldn't say there's a one size fit all, but very briefly, it would be not to go overboard with fats and animal proteins, and add foods that help mitochondria to regenerate. They are foods rich in polyphenols: extra virgin olive oil, red wine, dark chocolate. And trade some of the excesses of the typical keto diet for foods with probiotic fibers to keep the microbiome functioning properly. Also very important the rest, not only for the body, but for the energy producing cells (that's the mitochondria), and you can do this with intermittent fasting.

Demonizing fructose is not the answer. You are comparing an Apple and a hersheys bar......think about it. I would definitely try experiment with other foods if you haven't. You could also try different timing, i.e. eating them at other times during the day not around your workout. All the best to you!

@@DadBodFitness Fruit/honey used to be the only carb source I thought I could tolerate due to the lack of antinutrients. It made my gut feel good, but my body composition suffered and so did my liver. Ive tried nearly all other acceptable fruits and the results are just nowhere near as good as using potatoes or yams as my only carb source with added fiber elsewhere lol. Most people call me crazy and think im exaggerating, but eating even a small amount of fructose gives me severe anxiety now

@@bannanaization Wow yeah that's fascinating. I have found with my own experience changes like that are not noticeable at all. I think a majority of people probably would not respond to those changes but if you are finding changes like that then follow what you are finding to be helpful. Our "gut" feelings are actually somewhat science based as there are major connections from our gut to our brain according to top researchers in the gut microbiome. That can mean alot for us. Mental health and what causes us anxiety can definitely impact muscle growth and fat loss. Thanks for your input and I always love the discussion. What type of split do you follow?
@bannanaization
@bannanaization 2 жыл бұрын
@@DadBodFitness pretty refreshing to see someone respond in an understanding way like that so i appreciate your response lol, at the moment i follow an upper lower split with an arm day if i dont feel like doing arms on leg day, and maybe the only reason i noticed a big difference in my body composition is because prior to utilizing honey/fruit as a carb source i was basically eating 0 carb so i got super lean and maintained strength but absolutely did not gain strength/mass during that phase, fruit/honey didnt allow me to gain mass either and infact it almost seemed to make me lose weight without losing too much fat. I think this is because fructose inhibits insulin independent glucose uptake post workout, inhibits sglut4, and inhibits muscle cell hypertrophy while making fat cells more insulin sensitive

Healthier? None of them. If refering to insulin spike, they both do. This PhD is concerned about anti-nutrients. I don't see any problems eating anything of these once in awhile. Just not everyday. Variety is the key for other food concern as well. Hope this inspire some.

Brown rice really does have arsenic in it, my joints are bad because wheat grains and black seed oil was all i use to consume, and fake @$$ ginger in kombucha products, also i was a health nut with fruit veggie smoothies in the nutri bullet, i had consumed all of that all within the same chapter of my life, and i had full body inflammation, i've field tested everything to eat and not to eat, just to learn that i needed a balance of it all, and i had to give up extreme particular diets

Eating 225 gr whole grains per day adds 2.2 years to life expectancy despite glyphosate and despite being Gmo.
@davidpenner28
@davidpenner28 2 жыл бұрын
How can you make that claim? Did someone conduct an experiment? If you're referring to a longitudinal study it ONLY shows that those who eat 225 g/day of whole grains live on average 2.2 years longer. The evidence (the "data") does not indicate that the reason is the eating of grains. Whole grain-eaters may (generally) be doing something else responsible for the difference. For example, perhaps they smoke less, exercise more, or drink less alcohol. On what basis can you state that grains are responsible?

These guys that claim that the carnivore diet and keto changed their life are the same guys that were eating processed foods, junk food fast food, sugar and all the bullshit oil out there. The real reason they feel better is that they cut out the processed bullshit and sugar, etc. Oxidized cholesterol can be a hundred times more toxic than regular cholesterol, raising additional concerns about foods such as ghee, canned tuna, processed meat, and parmesan cheese. Cholesterol gets oxidized when animal products are exposed to heat. The concentration of advanced glycation end-products in animal-based foods cause cataracts ....Advanced Glycation End-Products . Also, look into the 'oxidized fish oil' (most flammable) for mental diseases. People are gulping fish pills that turn bad like a domino effect. When you read reviews of the “damaging effects of a high-fat diet to the brain and cognition,” “a number of factors have been proposed to cause high-fat diet-induced damage to the brain, especially with aging, including oxidative stress, insulin resistance, inflammation, and changes to vascularization/BBB integrity,” that is, the blood vessels and the integrity of the blood-brain barrier-but these are based mostly on studies of rodents. Yes, based on MRI techniques, high-fat diets have been shown to cause energy dysfunction in the brains…of rats. What about human brains? At 2:46 in my video, you can see two sets of human cerebral arteries, the arteries deep inside the skull, on autopsy of non-demented elderly individuals compared to Alzheimer’s patients. As you can see, the cerebral arteries of people with Alzheimer’s are so clogged with atherosclerotic plaque packed with fat and cholesterol that they’re nearly completely shut. With CT scans, you can follow the intracranial artery stenosis-that is, the clogging of the brain arteries-over time and observe the progression from mild cognitive impairment to Alzheimer’s disease. As you can see at 3:17 in my video, those who had only low-grade stenosis were fairly stable over time in terms of their cognitive function and ability to dress themselves and execute other activities of daily living, whereas those with more arterial clogging started to slip over the years. In contrast, those who started out with the most brain atherosclerosis rapidly went downhill and were twice as likely to progress to full-blown Alzheimer’s. KEY TAKEAWAYS The dramatic increase in dementia in Japan over recent decades has been associated with an increase in animal products, including meat, and a decrease in rice consumption. Animal fat and meat consumption has gone up by 500 percent in Japan, while calories only increased by approximately 10 percent. Across countries, intake of meat, especially, as well as eggs and high-fat dairy, appears to be the “most important dietary link” to Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline have been associated with diets heavy in meat, sweets, and fat, while most plant foods are associated with reduced risk. Many factors have been proposed as the cause of high-fat, diet-induced damage to the brain, particularly with aging, including inflammation and changes to blood vessels and the integrity of the blood-brain barrier. On autopsy, the cerebral arteries of Alzheimer’s patients are so clogged with atherosclerotic plaque packed with cholesterol and fat that they are nearly closed. The standard American diet, rich in saturated fat, cholesterol, and animal products, has been shown to compromise the integrity of blood vessels in the brain. nutritionfacts.org/2022/02/01/preventing-alzheimers-disease-with-diet/ -
