@@JustJohnny time is a dimension??.. im pretty sure we just made up the idea of time. we experience change. "time" is an abstract concept used for measurement and history mostly. its just a bunch of numbers we decided on to organize what we observe to be consistent.. more like a measurement of the rate of change than like.. an actual thing or entity of nature. i feel it is unlikely there is any way to change back or honestly whole universes based on possible choice's.. i find it hard to find a real point believing in time travel or other dimensions at all :S kinda just seems like wishful thinking.

@axjkalsok1058 5 жыл бұрын
D Vice Your perception of what a dimension means in a scientific/mathematical context is flawed. A dimension isn’t an alternate universe, it just describes the minimum number of coordinates needed to specify a point. In other words, the coordinate plane you’re familiar with is 2d because it only requires two coordinates to specify a point (x and y). For a 3d space, you simply add the z coordinate. The idea of there being the fourth dimension of time simply means you would need to specify a t value as well. Its like if you wanted to meet a friend at a specific spot in town. You cant just tell them where to meet you (x,y, and z coordinates), you have to tell them *when* to meet you as well (the t coordinate). That’s what is meant when physicists talk about the spacetime continuum, and time as the 4th dimension.

What blew me away in this story was these beings thought in telogy,meaning they existed in a state where they experience time all at once. Rather than the linear way we think. This allowed them to have a perfect picture of their own existence at all points in time.(this advantage is likely why they are so advanced.) So if you walk up to them and say hello, the creature not only knew that was going to happen but is experiencing that moment always,how you would expect a god would experience reality (omnipotence). What blew me away was when your learn their entire reason for coming is that in a few thousand years we eventually help them,so for them we are always helping them so they gave us non liner telogy as a gift and to aid in their own help. Its just an amazing scifi story idea and well implemented.

It makes since when you become so advanced. At that point why would you need, war, slavery, mindless aggression and lust (not just sex) when you can increase your knowledge and help other races that went along the same path as your own did in the far past. You could help them be better. And whats better than seeing someone you help live a beautiful existence. Perfect example being children. The ultimate goal as parent should be seeing your children succeed in life. If not, eh, your living a dark path 😔

Aliens coming in person would almost certainly be a sign of benevolence. If they wanted us dead, why come in person when diverting an asteroid to impact Earth would work? iKnowYourSecret MemeFettish most of the time in movies killing humans is just a by product of aliens usually wanting to take earth resources. I love the movie and encourage everyone to read the short story by Chang that it’s based upon. Other things described about the Heptapods: • They have seven eyes without eyelids, pointing at every direction. • When Heptapod moves, they do not turn; they strafe. Why turn when you see in every direction? • Heptapods eat with their anus/mouth located between their legs, like an octopus. • Heptapod speech ressembles rustle of thin paper. • Heptapod “speak” (or exhale) from a hole on top of their head, like a whale. In the book, the professor was not sure if this was speech or just an exhale.

This movie was absolutely magical for me, having read the short story beforehand I was absolutely enthralled with the topic of using linguistics as a central plot point and their ex machina. It was just so refreshing and a breath of fresh air in a theatre season where action movies were (and still are) dominating. I really loved the whole "learning" atmosphere throughout the whole movie and to me it had the same feeling in later films which I held in high regards like Interstellar or Annihilation, both of which that really did well the climax where everything the audience has learnt throughout the film would fall into place.

Excuse me, FilmComicsExplained, but I really suggest you check out this greatly unappreciated movie called “Splinter” it’s similar to “The Thing” series, in the way that the characters are secluded in a small building with a monster that only wishes to spread/assimilate. It is one of my favorite horror films in the fact that you can agree with every course of action the characters make. The acting wasn’t overly dramatic, in fact the roles that the actors portrayed were very convincing and almost natural. The storyline and choice in setting was rather brilliant in the way it draws people in on the anticipation and thrill. All in all it’s a great movie and I just felt I was at liberty to entice film lovers.

The most sophisticated alien design ever. If humans create civilization by two hands, heptapods basically have seven. Besides their whole body could be applied as a super huge hand. Followed by their time-transcending wisdom, their body, the octopuses incarnation, simply implies the superior agility and strength among all the other species.

2:36 this is probably right, but if they couldn’t breath our atmosphere, then at the end of the movie when they let the girl in, how was she able to breath the air in the foggy pod? That would mean that they manipulated the atmosphere so she could breath, meaning they could breath the same air. I could be wrong but just a theory.

They also didn't have eyes either. So they probably use echolocation or maybe, as some people speculate, they might be interdimensional beings. But one thing I remember watching the heptapods do in some instances is crouch down. That's a common thing lifeforms will do, like how humans will crouch down in front of something like a squirrel in a park. Larger lifeforms will do that to get down to the smaller one's level, as a means through body language to connect with it.

For every being, time is a line. The time of other beings can take many forms, but if you don't experience time, you have no way to change, so there's nothing you can do. A good example is time loops where a hero moves one way and remembers the past, but the time of all other beings creates a repeating loop for him.

Yes but the aliens help them by giving them the technology that enabled them (the heptapods) to be so intelligent and advanced. With that technology I imagine that humans will surpass their achievements in the future.

Paulo is correct. Asexual means reproducing without another of the species. Genderless means there is no distinction between members of the species as males and females. Some species have both male and females, and undergo asexual reproduction. For example, protozoa, which undergo asexual reproduction, before males and females meet for sexual reproduction. The two terms aren't synonyms, and aren't mutually exclusive.

First off I just wanted to say that I’m a huge fan of your channel and your content. With that being said I have a huge request for a small series of videos. Do you think it would be possible for you to explain the world of Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. I would love to see videos on Captain Power and the rest of his team explaining the Power suits that they wear. It would be great to see a video on Overmind which is the evil artificial intelligence that wants to rid the world of humanity as well as Lord Dredd who is the Cybernetically enhanced villainess who believes man and machine belong as one. It would be great to see videos on his Biodredds like Sauron and Blastar. The world of Captain Power is so rich with incredible detail that it would be amazing to see breakdowns of all of the things mentioned above.

I’m prepared to quote Bender in suggesting that this film managed to *transcend the genre while reinventing it*. Whilst the elephant in the room for this (and many other) E.T: contract stories is generally humanities overwhelming anxiety in the nature of its response. Whilst that is very tedious to have to unpack as a rule, this film does it amidst a much more profound account of how a highly intelligent, lucid; relatable being experiences this oddly cyclical timeline. Ie. she alludes to knowing Jeremy Renner would knock her up and then shoot through and her daughter would pass tragically the very instant her conscious mind grasped the possibility they’d be amorous.... she adds insight like ‘knowing what I know doesn’t change a thing’, ie. it’s better to have loved and lost. Few films opt for depth and request something of their audience in kind. This is hopefully a trailblazer for how edgy tails can be told well. Those shots of ships over misty fields in a simple but stark backdrop.... was like ‘whoa’. Talk about less is more. The notion which the military are frenetic about as their ‘God given right’ to respond with aggression’. They didn’t lob when, where and how they did just to bushwhacked by some *misguided patriot*. I can’t help but feel the notion that society as we know it will crumble into anarchy if the Nan’s and Pop’s of the world suddenly had to acknowledge E.T’s we’re getting around. Society isn’t quite the neurotic, self-obsessed; basket case it’s depicted as in the media....
