Josephine Falls,
one of Australias most picturesque swimming holes was just the starting point for our offtftrack hiking adventure this time round. An absolutely beautiful hike from start to finish! Ancient forests, waterfalls, gorges and some of the most pure water you will ever see glints in your eye as you pass through this stunningly beautiful part of world.
About an hour south of Cairns is the gorgeous Josephine Falls in the wooroonooran national park part of Noongyanbudda Ngadjon tribal lands, an exceptionally beautful part of the paradise that is North Queensland.
The first leg of the hike is an epic scramble over an unrelenting boulder feild through an immense thick mossy jungle noted to be one of the countries most diverse complex rainforest eco systems. Equalling the Daintree for its diversity and in my opinion its beauty. The water in this creek system becomes more and more pure the higher you climb to the point that it almost looks crystal like in its colour and clarity. An unbeleivable experience in its self let alone the being surrounded by ancient untouched rainforest systems that have evolved in this region over millenia.
Once at the bedrock the hike gets a little easier and you head into the hidden gorges of the mid slopes of Bartle frere mountain an unbeleivably beautiful place upon which words literally can not decribe, astounding around every turn and climb to the point when you think it cangt get any better but does!
Time slipped away from us once again as we never made it through the entire gorge to the top falls and pools. A two day adventure will have to on the cards to venture further!
Bloody rippa day was had by all!
Hope yopu enjoy the video!
