Everyone is complaining that they can't tackle anymore....but in all honesty it's not a bad rule and is definitely safer . People want tough gladiators out there trying to kill each other no holds barred, but they forget there are people under those uniforms making a living from the game. If the average NFL player is between 230-260 lbs and all that weight traps your legs in motion it's going to cause damage and if you're lucky it's just a medium sprain. I know the best the best way to stop momentum in one direction is to suddenly add momentum coming from a completely different direction, but doesn't running through a player and knocking them sideways have the same effect? And yes I know this isn't always possible, but most times it is. I know football is a dangerous game, but Just like the horse collar, and many other rules made for obvious safety reasons there are many ways to change how you tackle. The wording is what has people up in arms, and visually enforcing it in real time will take practice on the refs part. But it's doable

Its a good rule it stops major injuries to ankles and knees, this is a rule they took from the NRL in Australia, they should penalise the team player who applies it, be it a fine of $50K or sent off for a full quarter, the reason I say this is because a HIP DROP can and has ruined players careers.
