This video is complete with a ton of interesting history of these toys, many fun unboxing segments, and even a full review of the color shifters flash game! This has been a passion project of mine for a few months now, so I hope you enjoy :D

I had the truck at around 9:33 for YEARS and I forgot how I got it, and I NEVER KNEW it changed from the boring jet black tank to the sick design. So I went and got some warm water and it still worked! I am amazed I never knew about this until I watched this video! Thank you Pongon!

Just a tip with the packages, if you apply a little nail polish remover to the back of the card in the shape of the blister, you can take it off and not have to worry about damaging the front of the card 👍 Love your videos and you and your boyfriend's contagious energy, keep it up Donut!! 😁

And if you're worried that the acetone will dissolve the paint or (like me) can't get acetone because people make narcotic with it, you can also cut around the plastic blister with a box cutter or an exacto knife@@PolygonDonut

Fun Fact: hot wheels done the color shifters series with monster jam when they had the contract but now spin master did make a color changers series with Steel Reveal & Dirty To Clean, then in 2023 they did something called mystery mudders that is just color reveals but with a mud texture instead of paint.

I remember having that orange to blegh green van. I probably still have it, but I don't know where it is. I also had one that went from a red rescue vehicle to a white ambulance. I remember trying to change the color by squeezing it in my hand really tight, but the freezer worked better. so thanks for unlocking that memory. : )

I never knew all the background of HW Colour-Changers, I’m quite surprised to hear they go back that far. My very first Colour-Changer car was a Premium NASCAR my aunt bought me from America back in 2007 when I was 9. I used to have a Colour-Change set with a random car that you could fire into the back of a wrecked tanker, and the water would cause the car to change to look corroded! I also love the blind bag versions of the Colour-Changers, the ones where you get two cars in each barrel covered in yellow paint which washed off in cold water.

i have 2 of the exact same hotwheels, they are torque twisters with an orange-to-white shift. i named them orangey and they are some of my favourite hotwheels in my 600+ collection :D

I remember I got one of these from an old guy who sold stuff out of a house he bought and converted into a weird storage/bazaar. I was so psyked to get home and dip it in warm and cold water. I also had a play set that was a spray paint factory, and you'd push cars through spray them with warm water then it's be a different color. Hot wheels were honestly so cool; I still like Lego more but it honestly isn't too far off.

My very young cousin really loves the goopy color shifters, exactly because it causes a mess. There's also those buckets of slime with cars in 'em, and those FNAF figurines that you need to scratch out of a block of chalk.. it's a whole trend

23:26 this freacking car brought me back very bad memories. Long story short, i put it in the freezer, it turned cyan, but then, like the stupid kid i was, i licked the chassis (which are made of metal) and the tip of my tongue got stuck to it. I pulled to free myself and it was really painful

Recognised about 6 color racers I still have in a box in the attic. The spunge, just like the stick is a tool to apply water/draw.

I don't know for sure, but ifI had to guess, the sponge was so that you could change colors of select parts of the car by sponging different temperatures of water on it (like an early iteration of the ice pen). Especially since part of the marketing for these cars was "making your own design/pattern".

I personally liked changing the colors on these toys with the heat from my hands (I grew up in a cold region) and honestly it looked cooler than using the water. I also had a Disney Little Mermaid doll that had a color-changing tail. Did the exact same thing with her and she was probably the one that tipped me off to the fact I could use my hands because the change in color was so drastic (dark teal to a bright green).

i had the carwash as a kid, it was so fun. half the time I played with it it didn't even have actual water in it (messy) but I still has fun XD I didn't even know it was for the color changing cars specifically.
