A movie where the title also serves as what would’ve been a solution to all of the problem when making it

This actually explains a lot of why Hoodwinked was The Weinstein Company’s only good animated movie. Cause like I said, neither Bob or even Harvey Weinstein had any involvement in Hoodwinked except for distributing it. Same goes for TMNT 2007 (which is very underrated in my opinion BTW)

Sorcerer SMC Actually they were involved with the making of Hoodwinked. Y'see, the original cast was made up entirely of voice actors. But at the last minute, the Weinsteins forced them to get celebrities to get butts in seats. The only actors who remained were Patrick Warburton, David Ogden Stiers (though he ended up voicing only one of the two characters he originally played), and Andy (who's a) Dick since despite being voice actors themselves, were also recognizable enough to be considered celebrities.

Tornado1994 man you are incredibly crazy, I don’t think you’ve given most of their hit films from the 70s-2000s a proper chance. I mean they were producers and directors of a lot of live action movies that became hits, especially a lot of Martin Scorsese’ films, you shouldn’t entirely assume that everything they produce is bad, cause just assuming that with no proof whatsoever will make you look like an idiot

I know, right? That is more than double the time in which Hoodwinked Too's premiere was delayed. Also, since James Gandolfini died of a heart attack four months after Escape From Planet Earth's premiere, maybe it was better for him to not act in that movie - not because I think it would have been a bad way to end his career, even though it likely would have, but because that hardly leaves him any time left with the rest of Escape From Planet Earth's cast who have outlived him since unless they already acted with him in something else earlier.
@adampkalb

My mom taught me that while I can write characters for a film or a TV show with any living actors I have in mind, I should not waste so much time obsessing over it, and this story showed me how that can damage a production. Harvey Weinstein argued with other producers about what actors he wanted to play the main characters, paid some actors up front without having a designated character for them, and they wasted 75,000 dollars getting Kevin Bacon in and out of Escape From Planet Earth. It was the easiest money Kevin Bacon ever made. August 28, 2021, 3:20pm

Seriously. With all the crap going down with Harvey, I think we all forget that they were both incredibly incompetent, and owe all their success to Oscar Bait films. Three words. Fraggle Rock Movie. Look into that one. The level of idiocy on the part of the Weinsteins and their stupid notes is legendary. Corey Edwards himself, who was going to write and direct, said that he was shocked how many of dumb lowest common denominator gags they wanted to shoehorn in actually happened in the Smurfs movie. Especially the random product placement for guitar hero. And it was clear that they bought up the rights and realized they didn't want it anymore and delayed the hell out of the production until the rights expired so they could walk away from it. It's also clear that the only partnership they wanted with Henson was back during their DTV parody fairy tale Shrek wannabe movie period. Just and AWFUL company run by AWFUL people who made AWFUL animated movies against the vision of those involved. Look at Hoodwinked 2. Everything that sucked about that movie was them. Notice how many of the worst jokes are ADR'd in when characters' backs are turned. That M&M's story sounds like something a child would do. A very poorly behaved child with mental problems. And we're surprised that he did the shit he did!

Ah, Escape from Planet Earth; or as I like to call it: "What do you mean it was an actual movie, and not a bumper reel for a SyFy Channel kids block?" I'm sure this goes without saying, but I feel sorry for nearly everyone involved with this crashed spaceship of a flick. Except for the Weinstein brothers, the production's living proof that they were egomaniacal monsters even before the sexual harassment lawsuits were made public. Also, poor Rainmaker can't seem to catch a break, can they? First they end up botching this film, and then they get another stinker with Ratchet and Clank. I can only hope the Modern 20's end up as a better alternative to this, a waste of money and resources.

CW's Powerpuff series is currently suffering from the same re-writing and re-casting problems as Escape From Planet Earth. Re-imagining the Powerpuff Girls as disillusioned 20-somethings who lost their childhood to crime fighting was already a bad enough idea on arrival for rewriting the past, but they lost a ton of money on rewrites and re-shoots, and Chloe Wang (Blossom) lost her patience with the crew, so now Powerpuff needs to cast a new Blossom. 1 rewrite is exhausting enough. I sure hope The CW can settle for _something_ they find passable as a pilot before the 17th rewrite. September 7, 2021, 10:50am
