Mario Kart 7 is way too underrated

The ending of the video is so wholesome, i love that the community is not competing just to see who is better and who pulls the best time, but end up joining forces to achieve the unthinkable, and have a collaborative effort to get the absolute best and most optimized times on tracks.

This video made me emotional I’m not going to lie. Joining the community in 2015 immediately after the revival of the TT scene and seeing it evolve into what it is today has been one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Thank you for all your efforts in the RTA and TASing communities the past several years, we wouldn’t be here without you.

I only've been in this community for a few months and when I first found out it existed I thought it would be almost dead, because "who still plays Mario Kart 7 10 years after it released ?". But during these last months I've been amazed by how active this community actually was and by everything that has been happening since I'm there : rKD being so close to sub 1:34, Endo becoming PPChamp, Jack getting his first WR... and now this amazing "Summoning Salt level" video. All of this make really makes me wanna push hard on this game and motivates me to interact more with this community (because I've been quite silent for now that's why you probably don't recognize my name). Thank you for this video MKWilliam you did an amazing job. I don't know if a freaking paragraph was necessary to express that, but now I'm more motivated than ever to play MK7.

I was so surprised that the game I played the most had endless possibilities. I thought that only Japanese people played this game, but I was very excited to know that people all over the world are enjoying it. There is a high possibility that the English I wrote is wrong because of my lack of study.

As an MKW player, I saw this in my recommended and thought to myself “what does mk7 have that’s interesting?” Well done William, great documentary!

This is very well done, I hope to see more videos like this in the future! Like some people said in the comments, I hope that the TT / TASing community grows and more people contribute to exploit the game even further. I also hope that more coders become interested in TASing as well, the potential for tools to help TASers and analyzing runs is really high for MK7, in my opinion

Hearing SSMT mean literally anything other than stand-still mini-turbo is so weird to me and I don't know why lol

I never liked the glider physics. They always felt like how running feels like in a dream. Especially in MK8 where you can’t even control the gliders (or how long you’re in the air) for and the game just pushes you where it wants you to be!

I really liked this video, I’d love to see more of these history speedruns for other tracks. but i know you mainly did this because you set the record yourself. This is one of my favorite games and I used to Time Trial Maka Wuhu on my 2DS growing up, so this video hit close to home.

Ive played every single mario kart game and i can say that mk7 (with mods) is the most fun with mkwii being a close second. What i really like doing is being in the air (glider) on mushroom gorge, closing the glider and using a mushroom right before landing on a bouncy mushroom, tricking and then getting launched into space. Also, amazing video. Your commentary is very fun to listen to, the TASes are very impressive and the whole thing is very well edited. Great job!

Really cool to highlight the similarities between rta and tas. I get the vibe a lot of people think tas is a perfect run so seeing tasers race and cooperate on improving these runs is awesome!

I messed around with the frame-by-frame and savestate stuff in ZSNES back in the day before TAS was even a thing. Or, if it was, nobody had thought to document it. It was fun to figure out what was possible with the ability to essentially choose your inputs for each frame. Glad to see people are still enjoying messing around with emulators.

Great video :) I loved this game as a kid and when I saw you could drive on the walls, I thought there was time save potential on it.

I subscribed in hopes of you covering the history of other TASes from a variety of games (hopefully mosty nintendo :p). Really gives you appreciation for how its not a button you just click and it makes the fastest path possible, that these aren't being "computed" so much as they are imagined and theorized then proven. Its funny I chose math to compare it to because we are taught the computation aspect of math but I think that really downplays the artistic side of math. Tasses is in fact one possible expression of that artistic aspect. You could conceive of a way of breaking this down into a math equation and each section a more novel way to solve it and the creativity involved.

After seeing the blew it yourself Speedrun, and this one after, i m surprised the same way, even if it's a TAS because it's an all different world hard as normal Speedrun perhaps even more complicated, for me the most amazing part is your collaboration with Hgt. When we Speedrun we share everything to see if someone can beat us and achieve what we couldn't, to be able to take the best part of you and Hgt as the same run is the ultimate way of sharing and completing as "all for one ", great video , great community, and a great game of my childhood, much love A random speedrunner

I was in the TT scene for a while...I never learned how to do SSMTs so my times were never the best. And I never knew that about bounce physics either. But that 59 3lap made me audibly GASP.
