@@ammavasa731 Funny that you mentioned the Man Utd/Liverpool rivalry. Yes, the Lakers/Celtics rivalry is very much alike the Man U/Liverpool rivalry in one aspect. At the inception of the Premiership in 1992, Liverpool was leading Man U in # of top-flight championships 18-7. Then came the insane Ferguson era, that Sir Alex led them to 13 league titles to Liverpool's goose egg in 21 seasons (93, 94, 96, 97, 99, 00, 01, 03, 07, 08, 09, 11, 13). By 2013, Man U was leading 20-18. Now it's 20-19 after Liverpool winning it last season. After the 1986 season in the NBA, the Celtics were leading the Lakers 16-9. In the next 34 seasons, the Lakers had won 8 (87, 88, 00, 01, 02, 09, 10, 20) while the Celtics only won 1 (08). That's why it's 17-17 now.

In terms of football ⚽️ think as Celtics as Liverpool dominating historically and the Lakers as Ferguson and Manchester United arriving to build up that drive to end that dominance. (Of course it doesn’t look like that now, but back in the day, the comparison is clear as day 😅)

I'm a lakers fan, Lakers won the championship in 1985, 1987 and 2010 three times. That makes me happy for Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant making history. But I liked the rivalry really I don't like the Celtics and respect for both teams. June 9, 1985 will be a Laker day for beating the Celtics for the first time. That is almost 34 years to be remembered.

Let's see 13 of the Celtics' championships came before the 3 point line. 10 of the Lakers' have come after including 3-2 over the Celtics since then. Oh and Kobe got his revenge in '10.

The Boston Celtics are the worst nightmare of the Los Angeles Lakers. Just imagine the latter losing to the same team in the finals six times during the 60s.

The flip side: the Lakers are the worst nightmare of the Celtics. Your biggest rival is accepting the championship trophy yet you aren't even good enough to lose to them on the court. You can only watch on TV at home. That's what happened in 2020, 2009, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1988, 1982, 1980, ...

Did the Celtics deliberately lose in the early rounds such that they didn't have to face the Lakers in the finals? Is "losing in the finals" better or worse than "not even good enough to make the finals"? Why don't you mention that the Celtics lost more in the conference finals ever (15 times) than any other team in the league? You folks are giving credits to the Celtics for losing early. What a laugh!

What is rarely mentioned in that 69 finals is Wilt got into foul trouble and sat the bench for the entire 4th qtr. He and Van Bretakoff got into an argument and he told Wilt "Stay on the bench, we'll win it with out you" What a gaff....! Russell talks out his ASS about the Celtics being the better team, but they weren't. They Barely made it into the playoffs... in the final minute of game 7, Nelson picks up that loose ball and throws up a prayer that hits the back of the rim goes straight up and drops in... That isn't great.... that's just plain luck......they won by 2.... and of NOTE: West was series MVP as he tore up the Celtics... Baylor was hot & cold. when he was hot they won, when he was cold they lost....

Lakers just need to improve their bench with more perimeter guards and some lock down defensive players who can fit into Mike Brown's system. Gasol can stay because his the only player in the league who can put up with Kobe, and we still got Bynum. We can't overlook his triple double, he can still improve and mature. As for the Celtics, you take out Rondo and the team will probably fall below 500. Plus, you had an easier way up to the ECF while we had OKC in the 2nd round.

Lakers just need to rebuild their team around their current starters, because the guys that are around Kobe today, may possibly be the best guys he will ever work with, chemistry-wise. As for your Celtics, just hope Ainge hangs onto Rondo and not trade him away. Giving up Perkins was bad enough.
