The history of Wales from ancient to modern times.
0:00 Intro
0:12 Celtic tribes
0:18 Roman Empire
0:25 Early Middle Ages
2:40 Anglo-Norman invasion
3:19 Late Middle Ages
4:10 Early modern & Modern
4:26 Outro
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes
• The Celtic and Anglo-Saxon borders of the early Middle Ages (c. 400-800) are conjectural and rely partially on the borders of English counties, which were established later
• There appears to be some dispute as to whether Sir Herbert was made Earl of Pembroke in 1521, or 1551
• The title of 'Prince of Wales' was usually held by the king of England's heir after 1284, not by the king himself, though in practice it was simply an extension of his power
• Kilbarth/Scolton, Lamphey, and Warren were part of Dewisland, not Camrose/Haverford, as is erroneously shown in the video (we figured this out after the slides had been made).

Keep in mind that Wales is about the size of Slovenia or Massachusetts, so those principalities are very, very small. And yet the country has an amazing amount of history.

The counties changed in 1974 to 8 counties. And in 1996 the counties changed again from 8 to 22 counties, some of the old counties ( pre 1974 ) have come back like Denbighshire , Flintshire and they are new counties like Wrexham ,Conwy , city of Cardiff. Great video👍

Did amazing job with the videos, including History of Europe. Another thing would be perfect are to add to the list would be very, very helpful is: 1) List of Cities Romans took over with the dates next to it (start and ends). 2) who took over (what empire). 3) under the city name or on a separate list showing the list of cities of who took over - not the "roman empire" idea but the person who were in charge too AND 4) who was losing the battle against the winning opponent. 5) Including the population on different list showing which ones has highest or the lowest at those moments (such as Samaritans, Romans, Italians, etc..). Even death tolls would help of the times of the war or a revolt. (Just a bonus or additional - that's all.) ---- I have been searching for this in particular to see all at once. (Some videos I have seen shown tabs at bottom where you can click in particular Episode to grab the before and grab the after for comparison. -- that would be a HUGE bonus). :) But seriously, you did wonderful with all that - Excellent!

Immediate like - EDIT The amount of work that went into that must be crazy, FABULOUS effort - only "criticisms" and I hate to use that word since you did such an amazing job. Would have liked Owain Glyndwr's 1400 period slowed down more, it could do with a monthly even weekly follow up video if so inclined that would be even more amazing. Not a huge fan of some of the music used, if any of it was Welsh I didn't recognise it, first song sounded Gaelic with bagpipes to me. The final map of the eight historic counties, maybe you could have shown the 22 counties that are used in reality since 1996. The historic ones aren't used much beyond the postal system to my knowledge. Didn't realise Ynys Môn had been held for so long by the Norse will have to read up on that. Didn't notice if the islands off Pembroke were included or e.g. Swansea being founded, will have to watch it again. The level of detail is staggering - Diolch yn fawr Ollie Bye.

Also, the unification of Wales worked completely different to how England formed. It would often Unify throughout history to fight an outside threat, only to break up once the threat had ended, which shows a uniformed cultural people. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter as Wales is unified now!!!
