To summarize: Fur Hire was released in the same set as sky strikers with very little going for it aside from aesthetic. It didn't get enough support to be viable in any way until Rex and the link 2, where it got basically carried by bystials in tear 0 format. After tear 0 was over, people started to do some splashing with the runick engine, which is one of the most splashable engines in the entire game, which led to the atrocity that is Runick Spright Fur Hire (Fur Hire for runick players). This deck first started as just Runick Fur Hire where Runick was there to assist Fur Hire, but it eventually devolved into Runick Spright with Fur Hire as an extra draw engine. It truly is a sad archetype because it could have done much more, but all the relevancy it has now is being an extra draw engine for Runick Spright. Let's hope for some great support that will put the archetype beyond being just a draw engine for another deck and allow Fur Hire players to not have to play Runick/Runick-Spright to perform in any way. Also to give the archetype more individual identity, because right now, people can only associate it with Runick/Runick-spright.

You say that Konami didn't exploit furries before Fur Hire, but Gladiator Beasts exist. Fur Hire is just more blatant about it. XD

1. The best/worst part about Fur Hires is that they are actually, unironically, annoyingly, good. They have swarming for days, a Link-3 that gives them the kind of draw power most decks would *kill* for and they have a good variety of effects to get them out of almost any situation. Literally their main weakness is that they are suprisingly squishy, having very little protection and only 4 monsters with adequate baseline stats They are a legitimately well designed, fun archetype that just doesn't quite cut it in the meta in their own mainly because the actual competitive decks are beyond broken/unfun. 2. 1:56 good to know I'm not the only one who occasionally autocorrects and calls Rafale *Raphael* 💀

im a furry myself and yes i did get furry baited into playing it, still love the deck though and honestly i wish they had a link 1 or a new spell which allows you to normal summon again

I thought it was badass that they got the “fur hire” going on like they were just some fun animal characters who were mercs for hire. Then got told I had a “furry deck” and realized it was true. Threw the deck away minus my extras and hand traps. Can’t have anything nice around here!

Fur Hire can only get better from here on out. Having a generic summonable link3 that draws 3 and SS from deck gonna become a menace as more support comes in. But then again, I feel Fur Hire cards are too fair, they really need some unfair broken cards to make em viable as a pure deck. As of now, most people see them as a Runick Variant lol. Also, funny that the tables have turned when SS was more playable than FH on release, now FH is more playable than SS, while Vampires ain't nowhere to be seen. In any case, great vid!

I really hope fur hire does gain some support and good support, stuff like more searching, or another way to play through interruptions, or even a new fur hire boss monster that has like 3000 atk

i think the problem is that they got support way too late, and support was generic anyway (donner) so it was instead splashed, they flop after one negate, because you need SS another fur hire, you also need to open multiples of fur hire too - and that bcs it doesnt lock you anywhere - instead they got just splashed into anything, also - they have completely useless field spell - when fieldspells at that time started actually being good

Fur Hire has all the markings of an early link-era archetype. No tuners, almost every monster is a different level, can swarm without the pendulum mechanic. Of course, they left Folgo in a closet for 6 months after they dropped for some reason, and by that point, nobody cared anymore. But then, in January of 2024, they created the perfect Fur Hire support monster. It could self summon from hand, and it could fish out the spells from GY. It would've been perfect... But then they changed it to a Majespecter card at the last minute

No, seriously what do they even do? I don't see them played NATIVELY, it's always in some degenerate strategy. Is their game plan just to draw cards?? That's all I ever see them used for.

what happened to Fur Hire was that the cards for the archetype were always garbage, some people were just willing to go through the effort of making them playable in some form cause they liked the cards. The Runick variants it has involving Fur Hire could just be replaced with different archetypes and you would be substantially improving the deck as a result
