They are pretty decent movies, it’s just super hard having to go up against and being compared to lord of the rings, which had an entirely different kind of source material.

@@tangerine4426 aw thanks so much! I really appreciate it. Yeah unfortunately you have to watch the extended cut for Bilbo’s speech. There’s some good scenes in the extended cut, but there’s some bad ones, like a scene where Alfrid gets shot out of a catapult and into the mouth of a troll, and the troll crushes him with his jaw. I’m actually not kidding, that’s a real thing. I considered talking about it in the video, but it was already running long. So very similarly to the theatrical cuts, there’s good and bad in the deleted scenes lol

I think the Rankin/Bass movie they say it’s the eagles, which I guess is wrong, but it stuck in my brain so that’s why I mentioned it. Despite reading the book several times as a kid, it’s been a long time since I re-read it so I forgot a few things. Appreciate the comment!

The five armies issue it's the same with the two towers, it's very subjective. Aren't the eagles or the bats another army? They play a substantial role on the battle.

I have a busy life outside making these videos so it’s difficult to find time to read an entire book just for this one video. I get what you’re saying though, and that’s just how I always pronounced those names, I probably won’t break the habit even if I tried

@@NZealand I did get that, I just didn’t feel like listing every possible 5th army. Also, Azog’s army isn’t in the book, so I knew his army probably wasn’t the 5th army being referred to. It literally wasn’t necessary for me to bring up. Thanks for the nice comment!

@@NZealand I was making the observation that it could be confusing for audiences. The movie never makes it completely clear. I also genuinely thought the eagles were the fifth army because that’s what the cartoon says, and that stuck in my mind. I didn’t realize the cartoon was wrong until later. It’s been a while since I’ve read the book, maybe I should’ve researched that the book says “wild wolves”. Even so, it shouldn’t matter, I was just observing how the title easily could confuse people who are watching these movies without reading the book.

@@davemack7577 I honestly thought they were both unnecessary. If Legolas had a much smaller role I would’ve been more ok with it, but it becomes obvious they gave him a big role for no reason other than fan service. He doesn’t add anything of depth to the actual story.
