I like the chemistry between these two INFINITELY better than between Kate Winslet and Jack Black. Jack Black just didn't seem interested in her at all and it was almost like she was an afterthought. It was more about Kate finding peace with herself and quite frankly, she had more chemistry with the old man. With Cameron and Jude Law, their relationship is really sweet and funny and natural and he finally helps her open her heart to love again and they are adorable together. And Jude Law's accent is adorable.

I would disagree regarding Jack and Kate... I found that there is definitely chemistry there, probably not as intense as Cameron's and Jude's, but there definitely is something there. While Cameron's and Jude's shows more of an explosive love at first site that happens to also last a life time (a rare occasion as it is), Jack's and Kate's is built around the idea of mutual understanding and, sort of, like a progression from a friendship to a more intimate relationship. It's not that there is lack of chemistry between the two... It's simply approached from a different angle, it's different from the other one.

@@naturalbeauty_maria I agree with your assessment. I felt the exact same way as you. It's also important to keep in mind he was cheated on in the film, so the average person will move forward into another relationship with some caution at the very least. I think Jack Black did a pretty good job, considering this his first attempted at a romantic film. He surprised me for sure and glad he was picked for this role.

As a thoroughly dyed in the wool heterosexual dude, I can say that, via his awesome charm, authenticity, genuine depth, vibrancy of character, human touch, great acting talent and other endearing qualities, both on screen and off (I'd also mention that he's extraordinarily handsome, yet that is clearly self evident), Jude can bring life and lustre to any role, and carry almost any scene that he's in. Amazing! For there is something quite soul warming and reassuring about Jude, something both beautiful (on the inside as much as the outside) and brilliant, that he just draws one right in. The Man🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍

Jude Law is THE MAN! For it was both him and Kate that really carried this movie. Leave it to the Brits to save the day (through better acting and this quaint, more endearing charm)!

Okay ladies. In my opinion jude law is the sexiest, cutest most handsome man i've ever seen!!!!! My God!! I'm watching the holiday right now and just melting and smiling. He is soooooo sexy. His smile, his eyes. I could go on and on. I know hes older now. Around my age. Dam!! Why can't I find a man who has the looks and personality of jude law in the movie. And his accent. Oh I forgot. This movie is awesome. Love jack black, Kate Winslet and Cameron diaz to. Great casting!!

This movie is a wake up call for so many woman out there that have been treated so badly by men. Shame no man is like this in real life. Other errors in this movie: it never snows like that at Christmas in Surrey. Iris could never afford a cottage like that as a single woman unless she’d inherited it or saink No man will EVER be as nice as Jude laws character or if they are, they’d not look like him 😍

0:14 "Well the better the writer, the less notes I give" SHOULD be "Well the better the writer, the fewer notes I give." An actual editor (and a good writer) who studied literature in college and had parents who were in publishing and were writers would (should) know the difference between "less" and "fewer" and when to use which word for different reasons based on the definition of each!!! Jude Law is a Brit, and they have better schools than the US so I don't understand why he didn't pick up on that dialogue error and correct it as a matter of routine. Nancy Meyers has been doing romcoms for ages, and one would have thought she wouldn't let such an error slip by in an otherwise light/fun movie. I recently bought the DVD of this movie based on a couple of different clips here on KZfaq, watched the whole thing, and that one script/dialogue slip-up just rather ruined the whole thing for me. [Major bibliophile here; I have the largest private library of anyone I know (including college profs), very well read, largely on British history; college in middle age - English major, Honors program, Art History minor, and it was my essay writing that got me a nearly 4.0 GPA. I know what I'm talking about, in other words.]
