Iris (Kate Winslet from Titanic and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) calls Graham (Jude Law from Sherlock Holmes, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Captain Marvel). He asks her what’s up. She tells him she has met someone: the 90-year-old neighbor. She is advising him to go meet Amanda (Cameron Diaz from Charlie’s Angels, The Mask and There’s Something About Mary) when she gets a call from Amanda. Amanda says everything is going very well, and asks for news from Graham, who through Iris is also asking. This double phone call lasts until Iris realizes Graham and Amanda spent the night together. She gets mad at her brother, but it's still Amanda at the end of the line. She tries to change lines again and yells at Graham, but it's still Amanda on the phone.

What’s the “The Holiday” movie about?
Iris (Kate Winslet from Titanic and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Amanda (Cameron Diaz from Charlie's Angels, The Mask and There’s Something About Mary) realizes that the man she is living with has been unfaithful.
One lives in England, the other in California. The two women, who have never met and live 600 miles from each other, come into contact on a home exchange website. Impulsively, they decide to swap homes for the holidays. Iris moves into Amanda's house in Los Angeles while Amanda stays at Iris, in the snow-covered English countryside.
Shortly after their arrival, the two women meet a man. Amanda falls for Graham (Jude Law from Sherlock Holmes, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Captain Marvel) as Iris meets Miles (Jack Black from School of Rock, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and King Kong).

I know all too well how graham feels in this movie. Single dad, "silly daddy", "my best friend" etc. etc. When I meet women I'm not sure how to approach the topic because it usually ends up scaring them away, other times it ends up doing the opposite and they act as if it is a damn aphrodisiac but then the reality of what comes with dating a single dad with a 4 year old sets in and they dip out lol. Maybe I have just been getting with the wrong kind of women.

The only thing I do not like about this movie is the total absence of any romantic chemistry between these two actors. I mean Kate and Black

Right?! They were more like friends vibe. Miles didn’t treat iris as someone that he fancied and only went to her until he and the other lady didn’t work out. The whole romance in the end between the two is weird to me

I wanted to see more romance chemistry between the two, either this, or they both stay friends since when iris let go of the office guy she felt free on her own and it’s be good to stay that way too without a romance partner

I see it as, they’re good friends who finally realize they’re good for each other and maybe they should go on a date. They are both getting over breakups after all. I like that you don’t really know where their relationship goes, but I think it’s slow paced and realistic. Amanda and Graham are more whirlwind and sex-focused, then slowly realize they’re good friends too.

Lmao what? The dog belongs to Iris, not Amanda. Of course he knew the name of it. She assumed they had sex because they had already met and were both going on a back and forth "tell him i said.. tell her i said" childish school crush way while one the phone with her. 2+2=4.
