Fifty-three years ago today, R.C. Sproul was ordained to the ministry. As a pastor and the founder of Ligonier, R.C. was best known for proclaiming, teaching, and defending the holiness of God in all its fullness, deepening our understanding of God’s holy character.
To celebrate this occasion and remember R.C.’s life and ministry, we’ve compiled some of the best of his teaching on the holiness of God through the years. Watch and share the video today.
Before going home to be with the Lord, R.C. also played a role in shaping our 2019 National Conference on the theme “He Is Holy.” Don’t forget to join us next spring in Orlando, Fla., as we study our holy God and what His holiness means for our lives. Ligonier.org/2019

I still come back to this tribute from time to time. I didn’t know who he was until T4G after he passed. I get so emotional watching this video now after reading so many books and owning a Reformation Study Bible

The biggest problem that the human race has is this - God is Holy, He is Righteous, He is Just; and we're not. And because God is Holy, anytime He withholds Justice, He is giving Grace. - R.C. Sproul

My teacher for Christ for my 23 years with Christ, through the medium of radio and TV. I watch or listen almost everyday still, just watching this morning on "Pleasing God". He will not be missed for long as time is flying by. Soon, I will see Christ, and nothing else will matter.

Amen. I saw the late Dr. R.C. Sproul's last sermon at St. Andrew's in Sanford. I live in Orlando area where he has his church, ministry, and reformed Bible college. He is a titan in reigniting the Reformed faith but priceless as a Biblical expositor, preacher, and Christian apologist. R.I.P. R.C.

I pray Ligonier and all the other ministries Dr. Sproul founded will keep on fighting the good fight of faith, I also pray that my life will be used as much as Sproul was and that Christ will raise up a new generation of men like Dr. Sproul.

His academic magnum opus in my opinion is Classical Apologetics. It equipped me to refute the anti Christian attacks throughout college, and it’s an injustice that it isn’t included in College level philosophy classes because it’s the only place I’ve found a sufficient refutation of David Humes historical critique of miracles.. which for some reason is still invasive in the colleges today. Sproul demolished Hume and it was amazing. I’ve read the book over 10 times. Love the man.

The beauty of Sproul is his scrupulous attention to logic in order to attain the truth and once that has been established, to allow the emotions of the heart to flow through THAT filter full bore, so that we know that the movements of our heart are attached to truth and reality. He was FOR the excitement of the spirit, but he never allowed the emotions to overflow for their own sake, apart from the mind, because truth was and is too important.

This was posted years ago, but I just read it and have to disagree. He made the statement that God is holy and we are not. Actually we are holy, because we are the temple in which He dwells and we have been made one with Him. One cannot be in Christ and not be holy. Another misconception that is common is that God is so holy that He cannot even look upon sin nor have sin in His presence. Jesus, who is God, blew that one out of the water by living in the midst of, eating with and touching every kind of sinner.
@colliersmith7435

In the book of Leviticus, we see the Holiness of God and the command on Israel to be Holy. How did they do? They failed! Not a sacrifice, not a bowl of incense, not a washing in the world could permanently fix the problem that we corrupt and are corrupted to the core… So when RC says, we are not Holy, he is identifying that we are sinful and thus separated from God Who is not sinful. And the Good news is that Christ Jesus our Lord, became a curse on the cross to bear our unholiness so that we could be counted RIGHTEOUS and enjoy the blessed communion with a Holy God forever if we would repent and turn from our sinful unholy ways, and by Faith turn to the Holy Holy Holy Savior.
@bradharford6052
@bradharford6052 11 ай бұрын
@@colliersmith7435 You are partially correct. Where most people miss it, is that in the incarnation, Christ became us (all humanity), in the same way that Adam became all humanity. As in Adam all die, so in Christ all are made alive. We (all) were crucified with Christ and we all were raised with and in Him. Therefore we are not "counted" righteous and holy, we ARE righteous and holy. In the new covenant our only part is as beneficiaries. The relationship between Father, Son, and Spirit, and humanity is entirely different in the new covenant than what it was between God and Israel. Anyone born after the resurrection was not born with an Adamic nature or curse. We were born with the nature of the last Adam and in no way other than in our awareness, are separated from God. This is the gospel that transformed the world in the first few centuries.

Yes we are not worthy, but that has no right for a pulpit shit spitter to condemn and escape. You got to reason with every condemnation which you spelt which cannot be driven to holyness rather let people hate eachother. I want to know why chruch without fear of the Lord chose to accuse me when I have slept only with my husband and have never opted or even in my remotest thought... actually why was I stuffed with people whom I don't know. God cannot be mocked. I wait for the judgement. You can act smart. It hurts. It's not about healing. It's about murder.

You better bring some unequivocally damning evidence if you’re going to accuse a servant of God that was used by God to the degree that Dr. R.C. Sproul was. I don’t think I need to go into the ramifications for falsely identifying biblical teaching as Heresy.

@@Benjamin-fu5ij servant of God as much as Pharao. If you cant understand wath is the Gospel (Good new available for all) you should look at the heresy of calvinism determinism without any conditions. @@dominicblouin1014 Please re-structure your sentences, I wasn't able to understand much of it. But Calvinism is not heretical teaching, that's laughable. If that's your only claim you ought to repent for falsely labeling biblical teaching as false teaching.
