What people don’t know is the European royalty were far more grandiose than the British royalty. The Germans who first came over to be our Kings were very disappointed, because the Europeans lived in grand houses on large exquisite estates. The British royals were part of the people, they lived in modest houses, went to the same parish church in their local village ie Sandringham estate. King George III, was a farmer. He raised pigs and cattle. He sold his produce on market day.

The King does not own Buckingham Palace. It belongs to the state. Windsor Castle also belongs to the state. Having a royal family. With Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. Make over £60 billion pounds for the country.

The royals are not there for tourism. We are a constitutional monarchy. The King is head of state. The British are essentially a family. The King is head of the tribe.

Kinda sorta. They are held in trust for a yearly income. Theoretically if you become the United Republic the crown property could be returned. Like the duchy of Lancaster is privately held.

I’m a bit confused. At the time of the Windsor fire, the State told the Queen she must pay for the repairs as it was Windsor family property. Most Royals I’ve read countless times are buried there because it is family owned. The Queen said many times Windsor was her favorite home. The Queen makes all decisions regarding who can marry at Windsor. So all that leads me to believe Windsor is owned by the Royal Family.

One would think that the Prince of Liechtenstein could afford to buy his young son a belt to hold up his pants, especially in a family photo! When en route from Germany to visit my cousin who was the labor attache from Great Britain to Rome, i spent the night in Lliechtenstein. I learned what Vaduz was and being a nosey American, i drove up to the castle and even though it said NO TRESPASSING, I drove past the gate down the steep drive onto the castle grounds, pretending i couldn't get my car in reverse. I spent a few minutes grinding gears but when 4 huge snarling, barking German Shepherd dogs came running up to the car, i was able to miraculously find the correct gear and escape back to the safety of the road above! Since it is rumored that the prince has one of the largest private Rembrandt painting collections in the world, i figured he would love to invite me in to see them! ...not so!! However, I was treated much better at the British Embassy in Rome when I arrived there!!!

The King does not live in Buck House. It is his London House and office. It is used for state occasions. He lives in his more modest country House Highgrove . They go to Sandringham at Christmas time and the King goes to Scotland in the summer, again in a more modest house . Balmoral is being made into a museum, as is Buckingham Palace, and Windsor Castle. The video showed hundreds of visitors. The British people and tourists love the pomp and ceremony of things like coronations and jubilees. But afterwards they go back to the more modest country Houses, like the Prince of Wales House on the Windsor Estate . I don't deny that they are incredibly wealthy , but Charles express wish is to modernise the monarchy. Like some of the European countries.

99% of the world's one party dictatorships are republics or haven't you noticed? 99% of the world's monarchies are multi-party, parliamentary democracies - you definitely haven't noticed. Presidents have a political identity, they represent only some of the people, they are divisive. Constitutional Monarchs are above party politics, they represent the whole nation.
