This is one baaaaaaaaad house.....
Jade from Cornwall meets Deborah from Dunstable and Deborah's six goats. And clutter-bug and amateur inventor Scott locks horns with self-confessed control freak Lynsey in Blackpool.
Jade is from St Austell and cleans uninterrupted for six hours every day. Her fear of coming into contact with grease is so bad she uses sandwich bags on her hands and hates any form of pet hair and mess.
Jade is taking time out of her cleaning routine to help 48-year-old Deborah, from Dunstable, who is known locally as 'goat lady'. Deborah's three bedroom house has been overrun by her six goats, who have free run of the kitchen, living room and conservatory. Self-confessed control freak Lynsey can vacuum up to 20 times a day. Lynsey is going to the home of newly married couple Scott and Faith from Blackpool.

You know what I don’t understand? You clean your whole house daily, you disinfect your floors 10x a day, but you’re walking around with your shoes on… I’m from Romania, and we do keep our place clean, but if I were to step in the living room with shoes on, my mom would reset my whole operating system with one slap 😂

We moved to Bulgaria 15 years ago, it was a joyful surprise to see that nobody wears shoes indoors, even for a party, we have decorated, knitted, 'gypsy slippers,' plus a selection of slippers for guests. When invited to a friend's house you take your slippers with you. I have started taking my slippers to the village shop and leaving my muddy winter boots outside, outdoor shoes and boots get muddy when it rains because my village has no tarmac roads, just grass and earth tracks. It has now caught on with my neighbours and the shopkeeper is very happy. Hello to beautiful Romania. :)

To see the lady with her goats and the lady who was supposed to help her ending up helping each other somehow made me genuinely happy for them. The one has got her house back while still being able to care for her goats and the other has had a thought of what her OCD is doing to her and is willing to try and relax when it comes to cleaning her own house and do other things instead - I mean this is as good as it gets. Perfect ending!

You do know that this show is from around 2008 or 09, yes? It's not new at all, and at that time, Hailey was spending up to 19 hours a day---each day!---cleaning her house, as well as at least 4 hours per day on her makeup. No idea how she's doing now that her children are mostly grown up, but she definitely did spend inordinate amounts of time keeping them, their rooms, their possessions, and everything around her in her tiny world more than just clean!

With these kind of controlling parents there are two options: flee or subject to them. Fleeing requires self confidence as well as a lot of self reliance and the age and possibility to work/rent a house. Tuesday has clearly conformed to the way her mother wants her to be and being like that, a younger version of her mother, her mother accepts her. Very sad indeed, she needs mental help as well as temporary free housing to recover away from her mother (I assume she can’t hold a job right now and pay the bills).

Deborah and Jade were such a pleasure to watch. They completely understood their problems and weren’t in denial about anything and just pushed through. They were a really good match and often times I feel like the cleaners and messy people are judgmental or close minded, I can almost tell once the show is over they’ll go back to their old ways, but I genuinely feel that these two ladies helped each other emotionally to fix the root of their problems.

I can’t speak for OCD cleaners specifically, but for the most part we anxious people aren’t suffering any more than normal because our fears aren’t new, just confirmed, and we’re dealing like we always have. I find there are some positive experiences for those with OCD, such as losing the sandwich bags for cleaning, but I do think there is some professional support missing in terms of a person to talk to or someone to help you stay on track when you get away from the goals. @@Chiller-pc1dv I think you misread what I wrote. I know what OCD stands for, I was diagnosed almost 20 years ago. To clear up a misconception (in part encouraged by this sort of show), this disorder causes obsessive behaviour and compulsions/repetition, it doesn't speak to the actions themselves, but yes obsessive cleaning does manifest in some people. So does hoarding, actually. For me, I repeat actions over and over again in a sequence. I count. I open doors with two hands instead of one because it must feel "even" on each side. And maybe 20 more things that would take a really long time to explain 😅. But I couldn't care less about keeping things tidy. I said that it was interesting knowing what triggered the obsessive cleaning behaviour. That was exactly what I meant to say.

To the cleaning-obsessed, have you considered installing centralized air purifier in your house, and to those who can’t do it just provide every room with the appropriate size air purifier and germ killer appliances? Even if you are still a obsessed cleaner you can keep your regimen less frequent and less tedious. You can clean in less time or every two days instead of daily and for 8 long hours. I have no OCD but I researched on how air purifiers work and all about the HEPA system and decided to put air purifier in each of my rooms. I noticed afterwards less dust settles on surfaces and I breathe really great air indoors. My family’s allergies stopped. And one more thing. No bad odor can survive.

I bought all my purifiers from Amazon. For larger rooms like the living room I measured the square footage and bought purifiers with twice the cleaning coverage. The smaller the room footage the smaller the turn over purifying performance you will need of course. I will try to find their names and post later.

The paper towelling down in knees technique may have been part of the challenge set for herself, but surely, for the FIRST clean, a mop would have been better? Less emotional and far more effective? PS oh my goodness! The whole socks and shoe issue. Goodness knows how many germs are there!
