@@RoachDoggJr106 yha idk y foster parents dont just get wic/ebt allowances. If u cant afford to foster children with ur current income, fostering children should not be a form of income for u. It would greatly reduce the amount of abuse and neglect that takes place in foster care if there wasn't a financial reward for fostering. Also, any social worker that fails to report or notice signs of abuse for children in foster care should be held to the highest legal consequences because far too many of them r desensitized and give benefit of the doubt to foster parents over foster children. I just think the foster system doesnt prioritize the well-being of these vulnerable children and i wonder why. Its bureaucratic and heartless. I wonder what their priorities really r and what has made the safety of children so unimportant when protection is literally the whole purpose of cps. I see government run animal shelters take better care in rehoming animals than government run agencies for fostering and adoption. I mean, to foster dogs, u often will take on a high medical and training financial burden and recieve minimal assistance, which is why u hear way less stories about ppl neglecting their foster animals because they genuinely have to do it out of the goodness of their heart. Its crazy that children dont have the same or better system set up to filter out the trash. Its clearly intentional and by design and that is the reality that disturbs me, because i cant understand y.

The Turpin Family suffering still hasn't ended. I just started this video so i'll edit it if it's mentioned in the video. The Turpin case directly influenced my decision to get into counter-human trafficking. I had just arrived in southern CA mid-2017. As soon as this broke news afew months later, it was a wrap and I got involved as soon as possible. Two (potentially 3) of the younger children were given to a hispanic family the non-profit I worked with at the time directly PLEADED with county child services not to rehome with. That family had extensive history of abuse with adopted children. The father of the new family proceeded to further sexually and physically traumatize both siblings and then was given fucking probation by the courts WHILE MAINTAINING PARENTAL RIGHTS FOR THE CHILDREN THEY TRAUMATIZED. They are a small, horrifying example that is given a glimmer of spotlight. But nowhere near as dark as it gets when you really work in that field. The system failing children nowadays is the most vicious understatement I can't ever truly bring myself to describe when someone asks just how bad it really is. My father and stepmother did things like this to me. Sleep deprivation for 5 days straight, then 6 hours of sleep, repeat. Starvation, allowed to shower once every few months, regular beatings, bleach baths, ripping my hair out until I’m bald, I can go on and on. I went through that from 12-17 years old. I only got out after finally getting bigger than my father and fighting back. When I first got out and was able to experience the world, everything was amazing to me. But that feeling went away shortly after and I felt trapped again. I started having mental breakdowns. I was diagnosed with cptsd at 19 years old. I’m 27 now and still, nothing has changed. I can’t seem to get past what happened. When you’ve been through something that terrible for so long, it stays with you. I hope it’s different for those kids. I hope they get the help they so desperately need in order to live a somewhat “normal” life.

Going through and reading stories like yours, it sucks to know other people went through it but nice to know there's other people out there who really understand what it feels like to live with that. Its a terrible feeling, the embarrassment when you get triggered and its like your brain gets hijacked by a tornado, and you think of everything bad that happened, that is happening, all of the bad and you just melt into despair and can't focus or talk right. I don't know if its exactly like that for you, but I had a similar upbringing, and I know how it affected me and how much I wish that I at least could have ended up normal after all that, but no, we're just left feeling broken and invalid, despite knowing it's not true. You aren't alone and I understand the pain, man.

@@BrianHall210 it does feel nice in a way to know there are others going through the same struggle. Just because somebody out there understands some of the emotions and reactions. My reaction to "triggers" is anger. I fly off the handle at miniscule things. My therapist says it's a fight or flight reaction. I grew up fighting, so my brain goes straight to fight mode and I just rage. To avoid those situations, I isolate myself as much as possible. I was an alcoholic and a drug addict for many years. @@BrianHall210one reason your brain might turn into a tornado remembering everything is maybe your brains way of trying to reason with what happened or ask why it happened. And I just wanna say, it happened because these parents are fucking evil. You didn’t do anything wrong, nothing a kid wouldn’t have done. These “parents” took out their anger on you. It wasn’t “punishment” it was torture, straight up trying to scare you into listening to them or hurt you to get what they want. Which is fucked up, a parent should be able to talk to their kids, even dog owners can’t have a conversation with their dog but they still wouldn’t hit them to teach them something, they would take their time and train them. There’s countless studies that show that if you use punishment rather then positive reinforcement, it will take longer for kids to learn what you are trying to teach them and can cause them to rather go in fight or flight rather then listen. But if they do something right and you reward them, they are more likely to do the right thing. But if you hit or scream at your kid for compliance, that’s what they will do, is comply with you in the moment out of fear, but they won’t remember it and most likely will trauma block it. I still fell stuck remembering shitty shit from the past and trying to figure out why how it happened. What did I do to deserve it. Wasting so much time and ignoring positive people to figure out my past. I’m really trying to move past it tho because it does make me a depressed pissy little shit to anyone who interacts with me. Idk how to live without remembering what happened to me and seperate myself from who I was. I’m not a scared little girl anymore, I’m an adult and I have responsibilities I have to focus on.

I went thru a sort of similar experience and had to gather evidence against my mother to get my siblings out of her custody. No child should ever have to do something like that. It takes a lot of bravery. My heart goes out to the children of the Turpin family.

Hearing about this shortly after it happened is a big thing that encouraged me to try my damnedest to get out of my living situation… my parents weren’t nearly this bad, not by a long shot, but they definitely didn’t treat me the way one should treat a child. Getting screamed at and beat for every little thing I did wrong or didn’t do the way they wanted… I’m 23 now, been out since the day I turned 18 and I still have issues to this day with just talking to other people. I’m emotionally withdrawn and yet very immature at the same time. If someone even looks at me wrong or if someone around me is sad, I literally cannot stop myself from crying. I’m a vet tech, I wrestle with dogs of all sizes that want to bite my face off for a living and while I’m doing that, I’m confident because I know my own abilities in my field. But as soon as the scrubs come off, I feel like a scared 8 year old girl again… I’m working on it, but it’s very slow going. I can honestly say that I have my career, my husband, and my current coworkers to thank for literally all of the progress I have made.

I learned about this situation a few weeks ago. Truly a horrifying situation. There are a few details that I would like to mention from the original footage. First, none of the kids had an education. At best, the older ones were homeschooled for a few years. Most of them didn't know how to use proper social skills, to read, write, etc. So the fact Jordan was able to tell the police what was going on is insane, and very impressive. Second, the dad was standing in the doorway not only to block the entrance, but because there was a door behind him with a few kids chained up in there. The investigators eventually found that door after one of the kids on the outside pointed towards it. Shortly after, the investigators got out of the house and immediately arrested both of them. Thought I'd include a few more details in there that I thought were interesting. Truly horrifying stuff, but Jordan is actually a hero.

Before they moved to Perris, CA they lived in TX. The parents would leave their kids in a house while they lived in a rented apartment by themselves, dropping food off at the house once or twice a week. The children thought that beeping fire alarm was part of a security system to keep track of them, which was one of the reasons it took Jordan so long to attempt escape again. Yes, again. She tried it previously! There is just so so so much wrong with these parents and the treatment of these poor kids, it’s awful. I lived in the next town over years before they even moved to the state, but when all this happened and I heard “Perris, CA” I was shocked something like this happened in a smallish fairly agriculturally centric town.

There was a documentary I saw a while ago called _Evil Lives Here_ (s6 ep8 “My Twisted Sister,” highly recommend it) where Louise’s sister Elizabeth was interviewed and she talked about their childhood and the events leading up to the children’s’ rescue. It’s really fvcked up cus Elizabeth was also subject to harassment and torture by Louise and David’s hands when she lived with them for a few months in her like early 20s. She also said that she was so desperate to escape that when she finally did, she didn’t think about the kids at the time, but that it’s now one of her biggest regrets and she hates herself for it :( **Edit: it’s also important to note that despite their 25-to-life sentences, many experts in familial child abuse highly doubt either of them will ever be paroled due to the crime’s severity, making it effectively life sentences for them. Let’s keep it that way, we don’t need these monsters roaming the streets _ever_ again.

This one hit with me, i can relate all too well. I spent 2 years in an abusive home when i was foster care from age 5-7. The house was covered in cat shit and piss, same with human waste, paraphernalia, trash, beer cans, windows duct taped, etc. id be starved and maybe fed once every other day and i was convinced i was being poisoned while it happened as id immediately projectile vomit after and the subsequently beaten, i remember being locked in a small room and sexually assaulted at one point. Strangled, thrown down a set of stairs, hit with a staple gun, bound, beaten, fed cat food, etc. we were also given horrible threats of death to us and our bio family if we ever told anyone or tried to run away, i believed every word. I became extremely thin, 40ish lbs at the age of 7, my nails and hair grown ragged. Social workers didnt check on me until one of the foster parents bio kids shot someone and there was a full out investigation and every foster kid was removed. Still dont know what happened after, i was never told anything or given any reparations for it. I dont know how id start that process but the PTSD you get from that kind of abuse at the age of 5 is immense. I can totally relate to these kids, its so fucking awful how some people are. I live in alberta canada if anyone has tips on how to go about the process of suits and charges, im damn near positive theres already a massive file on this family as i witness every other kid there go through the same exact situation as me.

Hey there papa meat. I noticed through the video you asked about the amount of training that's required to deal with these kinds of horrid situations. Used to work at a firehouse and we responded to a call involving a toddler. It was a bad domestic violence event, kid died. I went through training (for both ems and fire) and had already been on calls dealing with fatalities. The overwhelming shock and anger you feel when you see what has happened overtakes your reason. You just stop thinking and you fall back on what you trained on. Kinda like an autopilot. In the moment you do what has to be done. The aftermath is a lot trickier, lots of departments will provide a "critical debrief counselor" who's supposed to help you unpack what happened. Lots of the guys put on an air of bravado and refused to see the counselors. We talked about how we felt to one another (within the firehouse) but it took me a long time to get help because of my own hubris. Nowadays I hope that there's a more understanding culture among first responders, encouraging one another to seek professional help as soon as needed.

This video is one of few examples of no fiction can be more gruesome than reality.

I can’t believe that after this papa meat died from eating far too much pink ribbon and then was hung with all of his bones broken. We’ll all miss him

I remember when this event hit the news, and I realized for the entirety of these children's lives, I had worked, gone to sporting events, engaged in recreation, all miles from the house. It's like when the school around the corner from my childhood home was subjected to a school shooting. So many monsters walking among us, so many horror stories hidden under our noses.

I'm orange county so I'm not SUPER close but still pretty close, I had the same epiphany and it's crazy to think how many others are out there that DIDN'T escape. I'm just glad they did

This story is the only time I've ever had to take a break in the middle, I haven't faced shit half as bad as this, but some of the things these horrible people did to their kids were a reminder of the things my own mother did. I'm so lucky it's been years since she's done anything physical, I can't imagine being in such a situation for almost 30 years

Hunter, (I felt weird saying papa, with this content.) Thank you so much for covering topics like this. Horribly, they are way more common than people think. I have worked for KVC and DCF in the KC/Johnson County area as a Family Support Worker and an Adult Protection Investigator. The stories I have are horrifying and consistent. Not even making headlines they are so common place. It is important you are using your platform to bring light to this. Thank you again for your insights and being a genuinely good person. Sam

Coming from a large family (8 kids) seeing this really hurts. We had our problems but we still cherished eachother

I love when Papa Meat chooses to talk about these kind of stories, especially that last part about urging people to address the problems and find the help they need. Very wonderful Papa Meat

I actually know of a house of horrors in my town very similar. Mass amounts of beating and neglect. I only know of it because when I was a kid my brothers and I got split up, me and the oldest with my grandparents and the rest to a foster family. Worst part is two of the kids, my brothers, were severe hemophiliacs so even mild abuse could have resulted in death and It was never stopped, cps never did a thing. All of the abused kids grew up into worse abusers than their parents. My youngest brother tried to rape a girl at 14, My other brother came out of that house at 18 so mentally fucked a few years ago he ended up turning on everyone around him and isolating himself. Haven’t heard from him since I stuck my neck out for him and he tried to call the cops on our grandma. You always hear about these stories but only when they get resolved. So there’s one for you guys that never did. Love you papa meat god bless ya ❤

It is absolutely unbelievable to me that a parent could ever hurt their child like this. I have a 5 year old son and he is my entire world. My heart hurts that these children experienced this 😭😭

Having kids of my own this shit burns me in an I.possible to explain way. I get upset at myself when i simply lose my temper, couldn't imagine handling my kids like that or treating them such despicable ways. Gonna go hug my kids now
