In this video we take a look at the new 2024 Hoyt RX-8 Ultra Bow. We go over all the specs and look at all the new changes for 2024 with integrated sights and accessories. We then shoot the bow for performance, speed, noise and feel.
Hoyt RX-8 Ultra MAP $1949.99
332 FPS (ATA)
34.688" Axle-to-Axle
7 1/16" Brace Height
4.4 lbs
Draw Length 27"-32"
75%, 80% 85% Letoff on a Binary Cam
Available in 40lb, 50lb, 60lb, 65lb, 70lb, 80lb max weights
Often imitated, never even close to replicated.
Kudos to our friends for trying, but Hoyt Carbon Technology is a success story that involves more than wrapping carbon around a frame. We came out swinging and never took our foot off the gas.
HBX™ Xact™ Cam. Delivering the perfect shot experience one 1/4" at a time.
Experience unmatched smoothness and tailor your performance like never before. 1/4" draw length adjustments, 3, 2, 1 Mod system for peak performance in all draw lengths, X-hard and hard wall options, and 85/80/75% Letoff. Plus an integrated kickstand to protect your string from excess wear in the field.
We’ve seen where some of you bowhunt, light is good, tougher is better.
Elk hunts, sheep hunts, or any hunt that makes your lungs burn is a good reminder why a ridiculous strength-to-weight ratio matters. Lightweight only works when it can take nature’s worst and still punch your tag.
VitalPoint™ Grip. Hands down our most comfortable grip to date.
Made from durable Versaflex™ material for ultimate comfort in all conditions, VitalPoint is designed at an optimal angle to deliver consistent hand placement and accuracy.
New WireWRX™ Bow Strings and Holeshot™ V2 Silencers. The little things that make a huge difference.
New for 2024, WireWRX strings are designed as part of our bows' shooting system and include Holeshot V2 string silencers that reduce string vibration by 25% - a noticeable performance advantage over other aftermarket strings.

Something seems off about your speeds. Other reviewers are getting around 333-334 fps for a 350 grain arrow, 70# at 30". I get that you're shooting 29" instead of everyone else shooting 30", but 1 inch shouldn't reduce speeds by 30 fps! My old RX-7 Ultra at 68# at 29.5" is shooting a 405 grain arrow 300 fps. That is with lower draw weight, heavier arrow, and similar draw length. I know the speed is accurate because I used it to create my sight tapes, which were spot on for TAC events all summer. Lastly, I am not confident in your dB measurements. Comparing your reading between the Phase 4 33 (93.5 dB) and this bow (98.3), that would mean that his bow is nearly twice as loud as the Phase 4 (remember - dB are a logarithmic scale of pressure energy; about every 6 dB is a doubling of "loudness" of a sound, with 20 dB being 10x the sound). I totally agree that the Phase 4 is very quiet, but there is no way it is half as loud as the Hoyt.

I wouldn't trust any speed you see through one of these Caldwell chronos. They are all over the place and VERY inconsistant.

Those speeds are for the regular rx8 not the ultra

All the reviews I have seen the Ultra is shooting low 320’s

My rx7 Ultra at 28" 60# 400gr only gets 252fps, my rx5 ultra plays the same shit.

Any chance the DB meter is catching the sound of the arrow hitting the target?

yea for the weight and price they can keep it, for 2 grand carbon should be 7-800 dollars worth of less weight.. when I compare my old steel climbers to the new ones I can feel the weight thats come off the new ones big time I like the Alpha but not that over priced heavy carbon bow no thx... great video as always thx..

Why would you speed test at 29” and not 30”?

Yeah your data on speed and DB is definitely very off. Logically (own rx7 ultra, this practically same) and in comparison to what all other folks reviewing this today have shown. Just for others that view this and wonder…

The stubby stabilizer weighs more than .2 pounds. You might want to invest in a better scale. Hoyt’s website says $2049

Why did the stabilizer only drop your weight by 0.2 lbs? I think it is an 8 oz. stabilizer, right? Should've come down by 0.5 lbs.

underwhelming and overpriced. Save the money and just get a Alpha X. If you want something light then buy a Mathews Lift
