I had an HPI Savage 25 back in the day. Worked at my parents restaurant washing dishes for a year to save up for it. Eventually figured out I loved a hobby I couldn't afford. I had to wait around 18 years to be able to afford maintenance and replace broken parts

Awesome! Glad HPI is coming back. Sadly though, this is just an old truck with a different body! I was really hoping to see a new color for the anodized aluminum accent pieces. Also, the wheels and tires need a change badly, they’ve been overused for awhile now....... If HPI wanted to get real clever, they’d build a 1/5 or 1/6 super savage that runs on 8s to compete with the Kraton and Xmaxx. Nonetheless, as I said, just glad they’re making a comeback finally! 🙃

It’s obvious they don’t have the money to r&d a new platform and are hoping to make some money on old rehashed products. Sad really I don’t see them making a resurgence. People have already lost faith in hpi and the dismal parts support.
@Twizztify

@@dionisi9961 They don’t have money?! 😂. Who told you that? Certainly not what I heard..... I heard the new owner has deep ass pockets and he’s been paying off all the debts that HPI has acquired over the years. He’s going to be the one to get the company back up on its feet and I truly believe HPI is going to be healthy again. The Savage is absolutely legendary! The platform and brand isn’t going to end anytime soon! 😉

@@Twizztify The savage is legendary but cmon it’s dated and that body is ugly. I loved hpi back in the day and ran a lot of their stuff but without a center diff it won’t survive especially how vas jumps his arrmas/corallys. Also wouldn’t be the first time we hear “oh this time hpi will be back”. Hope I’m wrong but we’ll see.

This truck isn’t for the whiners, it’s for the fans that loved the Savage I think. I bought one and I love it. You have to know what it is, how it drives and it’s not a all out basher, it’s a monster truck experience

What would be be better for bashing out of one of these and a traxxas slash ultimate ?
@MetroHobbiesAus
@MetroHobbiesAus 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Barry, Thanks for your interest! These are two very different types of cars with two different types of power as the Slash Ultimate is a Short Course Truck whereas the Savage is a Monster truck. The Slash can run up to 3S LiPo, while the Savage can run up to 6S LiPo. The Slash is classed as a 1/10 scale and the Savage is a 1/8 scale, so it will be bigger and heavier than the Slash. Both are very fast, both are quite durable, but are quite different in the way they, look, feel, drive and handle. Something to note is that the Slash will be easier to drive fast with, while the Savage will be better suited for jumping. The short answer is that they're both good for bashing and it ultimately comes down to the type of driving you'll be doing, the terrain and what appeals to you the most. We hope that helps!

It's the same as the savage flux as from 5 years ago never even changed the the drive shafts so you can put on 17mm hex rather than those tiny useless nuts, the stupid hinge pin arms you have to tie wrap to keep the pins in and they still always come out and who uses Deans now. Don't get me wrong I loved the savage in the early 2000s the problem is it's still the same now with non of the problems addressed and that's rediculous they don't even have proper adjustable shocks still they're using leaf springs. It's just rediculous do it properly HPI a proper modern upgrade or leave it to rest.

What do you think is a better car for bashing ?
@richardhutchinson9646
@richardhutchinson9646 3 жыл бұрын
@@bogtrotter10 depends on price as much as I don't like traxxas the xmaxx is possibly the best out and out large scale basher and the outcast is pretty damn good to especially for wheelies and flips also kraton is good. Losi grave digger looks awesome to but totally different beast. lower budget can't go much wrong with something like a team associated rival mt10 or arrma granite, big rock the arrma 1/10 scale in general is pretty solid. And if you were after building one tekno mt410 absolutely love mine

I actually still own an old savage I'm not saying they're hideously bad it's not. Just that they're outdated and if you're going to say it's all new at the very least address the problems it was known to originally have like it wouldn't take much to change the hinge pin holders so the pins don't come flying out and hex to 17mm with better wheels. a couple of small improvements which would make it miles better.

Looks so junky. Never bought one back then definitely wont buy one now that I have a kraton. I guess the upside is people who have savages can get parts again. But they would have moved on to a new better truck. Why would they bring this old junk truck back and not change anything but the color? I mean look at the shocks - clips for the springs? Jeez they spared no expense. I guess this truck would be a good deal if it’s $299-$399 max. LoL

That is the original bad boy of rc that truck will run with any modern day truck durability wise no problems I’ve owned many as well as all the new arrma trucks and the maxx x maxx etc and I’d still prefer the savage hands down.
@longboardguy
@longboardguy 3 жыл бұрын
I bought one. And I have a custom built Kraton XL with every piece of M2C on it you could imagine. You obviously weren’t in he hobby back in the day to understand the following of this truck and the respect it’s just a cool different rig. It’s not meant to fly 50 feet off a jump. But I bet you that twin plate chassis will last a hell of a lot longer then an Arrma one. This savage is a lot more fun to drive then a Kraton it’s a real monster truck not a monster Truggy. Each their own. Ya some parts they could have been done better this time around, but the same can be said for a lot of rc. Arrma EXB were burning up diffs right out the box on release. For a V5 truck not acceptable and that STX radio my god what’s were they thinking in a $500+ rtr
@CB-bi1be
@CB-bi1be 3 жыл бұрын
@@longboardguy I been in the hobby longer than you and you would know that the diffs burning up is user error and not checking if your diffs were shimmed at the factory before you run it. I just don’t see the reason to buy a nearly 15 year old design when you could just get an xmaxx or a kraton today with full m2c parts. My buddies hpi savage was always broke and it was a pain to work on
