I was her classmate at that time and i rmb everything clearly. When my teacher ask her bestfriend where is she and she said her mom(huangna mom) told her she hasnt come home for the past few days. Few days later, we got the big news...no one dared to talk about in class. We were just primary 2 kids.

I was in primary school when this happened. It’s really shocking given that Singapore at that era is considered one of the safest nations in the world

My family was poor back then and I often being left alone at home while my parents worked. It's common in Asia countries for children to be independent, especially the poors where we can't afford nannies or daycares like those in the west. The man that her mom trusted broke her trust, RAPED and murdered her daughter. Imagine there are people so ignorant that they are blaming the mother for "negligence".

I was still about 3 years old when this happened and though I don't remember all the details, I remembered being terrified of being separated from my parents when I heard or saw the news of a little girl from China who was kidnapped or something while playing hide and seek and eventually got raped and killed... Its honestly sad to hear the news again, she would have been 24 this year... Dearest condolences to her family even after all these years, and may she rest in peace...

Moral of the story: Don't trust anyone even your closest friends they're just as deadly as anyone because they know every single thing about you and can use it against you. Anyone can turn against you even your family. My only tip is don't trust others easily and stop being friendly to others. I know we don't see these things coming but one tip I'd say and my mum says is don't get into a car with your uncle or aunt or mums friend when you're parents arent their because we now live in a society where family members can kill you or do anything to you because god knows what they can do just these small things you've to think about. I recalled seeing Huang Na’s poster all around my neighbourhood when I was like 2 years old. It was near my playground and my aunt has to constantly look after me during the event. It was scary and seeing her face now just brings me back so much memories

I saw the documentary of ths case on Crime Investigation. The food contents on her stomach really help in the case. They found a mango which also supports the story that he enticed the kid of giving her food if she comes with him and also link it even more to the suspect because he was working on a fruit market. My friends and I studied this case when we were in Primary 6 (we were obsessed with the crimes and murders in Singapore at that time). Although the case is truly tragic, it also displayed how united and caring Singaporeans were at that period of time. Many people who had no connected with Huang Na or her mother chipped in to help in the search. During Huang Na's funeral, more than a thousand people showed up to grieve for her. Although, as mentioned earlier, it is a really sad and morbid incident and this should never have happened, my friends and I were still somewhat in awe at the Singaporeans of that time. Unlike Singaporeans now, during the coronavirus period, when people are just selfishly snatching so many supplies they don't even need, and panic-buying everything to the point that the majority have nothing left for themselves.

To the mother of this beautiful young girl, I am so very sorry for your extremely painful and extremely heartbreaing loss. No parent should ever have to bury their child because of someone like this sadistic psychopath.

Am surprised that Singapore has a law to execute the culprit .wish we have the same cause here in India we have thousand of such a cases and people get couple of years in the jail or many of them don't even get convicted and free outside ..

The mother, then took the donation and went back to mainland and built a massive house. Later, she married a Taiwanese man and was prosecuted for fraud. All these tells us she is not as innocent as we thought. The man who claimed to be Huang Na's stepfather was only her mother's partner in crime.

It's terrible cases like this that make me think the death penalty feels justified. What a terrible monster to do that to an innocent child. I remember this case; I was P6 at the time. So sad...

Why would any mom leave her 8 year old daughter alone by herself when she goes away ABROAD? She could have made some arrangements for her daughter to be under a proper guardian. Such a tragedy that could have been avoided.
