Honestly same when I rewatch this as an adult and I saw this scene in particular when Quasimoto lifts Phebus That man is probably would easily 62 and anywhere probably between 180 and 200 pounds plus the armor Quasimodo is insanely strong and it’s probably from years and years of Ring them bells

My mom took me to see this movie in theaters when I was a kid in 96. I remember the whole audience bursting in laughter at this scene. Over 25 years later, this scene always gives me a chuckle looking back 😂😂😂

Esma’s reactions doing this thing is so funny she keeps on being surprised at what’s happening she is jumping off of different parts of the building. And she is gasping because she’s shocked at what’s happening she is scared and excited. during this entire scene that’s literally what she’s doing. And Quasimodo is not afraid to show his strengths and weaknesses and emotions. When he’s around her that’s what I love about Quasimodo. And I love how Esmeralda so brave and fiery but he is more gentle and timid she goes for it or he hesitates they just go together. Esmeralda has a fiery voice Quasimodo a soft one. Don’t hesitate to the opportunities but Esmeralda goes for it right away. well Quasimodo is not sure about it. They go together quite well I think they should end up with each other in the end of the movie.

yeah she is so awesome! She is strong, brave, she is very fearless! Yes she has fears but she decides not to show up because she wants to be brave. She’s got a compassionate voice too. I feel like she should end up with Quasimodo at the end of the film not Phoebus.

Honestly, I never realized how faultlessly polite Phoebus is: Asks a simple question, nearly gets his face burned off, then gets hoisted off of his feet by someone who looks ready to kill him, but he still remembers to say "please" when asking Quasi to put him down. Then he tells Quasi in no uncertain terms that he's a good friend to Esmeralda. All without a single bit of judgement for Quasi being different. (In fact, iirc Phoebus wanted to stop the crowd throwing fruit at Quasi after the Feats of Fools.) As a kid, I always thought he got Esmeralda because he's handsome. Now I realize that his looks have absolutely nothing to do with why Esmeralda fell for him.

Which is a big part of why I prefer the movie’s version of Phoebus hands-down. In the original novel he was a certified A-hole who tried to seduce Esmeralda (who is only 15 years old in the novel) only to leave her to be framed and executed for his attempted murder afterwards.

@@travisboutilier2220without even trying??? He saved her when made her get sanctuary in the church, then flirted with her, was "charming" when they first talked to each other. ALSO he risked his own life to save an innocent family later, even knowing he would die for it.That's when she fell for him because she saw he was a good and honoured man. Quasi never even made moves on her, why should her fall for him? Why should her stay with him?? Just out of grattitude for helping her scape from the cathedral?

LOL yes. Becoming a strong person requires a work out. Quasimodo gets a work out every day. By ringing the bells at Notre Dame. He can lead to manage his arms if you wanted to. He could manage his arms by ringing the bells and lifting Phoebus onto his shoulder.

As far as Disney villains go, not only is Frollo realistic but he is way ahead of his time. I say this is because he is what you might call an incel. Long before Hal Stewart from Megamind entered the picture, Frollo took the cake in terms of inceldom, granted he’s one with unfathomable power over the people of Paris and is extremely wrathful and hateful towards others. 1. He has an unhealthy obsession over a young woman (Esmeralda) yet he hates her at the same time (which makes him complex) 2. He becomes angry when she doesn’t return his affections/submit to his authority, causing him to burn down the city and her eventually. 3. Sexually harasses Esmeralda by groping her while inside Notre Dame. Just to name a couple of examples

How come I never realized there was sexual harassment in this movie? That’s completely sickening and barbaric of Frollo! Real Talk, I actually haven’t seen this yet. Its one of films from the Disney Renaissance I never watched my whole life growing up yet; but..like you mentioned Megamind about Hal sexually harassing Roxanne Ritchie for example? That I already get, but in a Disney movie…Frollo doing the same thing with Esmeralda because of what he wants from her?? Oh hell nah, that’s too much.😫

Quasi's actually quite scary when he's facing down Phoebus. And it shows his protective instincts towards both Esmeralda (the first person to show him genuine kindness) and Notre-Dame (the only home he's ever known) in chasing soldiers out to maintain the cathedral's sanctuary.

No. A kiss on the cheek is not necessarily romantic, and he knew that. The gargoyles are to blame for pushing him into thinking otherwise. They’re very good friends, they helped each other, and also a kiss does not entitle one to a relationship with anyone. Let’s not plz

And that's fine, she is a flirty girl (remember how she teased Frollo during her dance) Acutaly it's good for filmakers to put int this moment as it shows she isn't shallow and don't mind Quasis apprance so it wasn't a factor when she fallen for more generic handsome Phoebus. Odds are if she came to visit Quasi again, before shet saved Phoebus they would hit it of more.

It wasn't Esmeralda's fault that she fallen inlove with Phoebus instead of Quasimodo and she never said or hinted that she liked Quasi anyways. Quasimodo just had the expectation after being convinced by the Gargoyles, you can't blame them though because they were just being supportive to their friend and Quasimodo never actually known true affection and mistook Esmeralda's gratitude for romantic feelings. All in all, Quasimodo is still a chad and took that like a boss and still helped them from being killed by the Simp lord, Claude Frollo

Since we're talking about the book, you forgot the part where Esmeralda was disgusted by Quasimodo's appearence, she just felt sorry for him when he was being tortured and gave him water. Book Esmeralda is not a very good person too. She was also very dumb, different from the movie Esmeralda.

Phoebus isn't a 'normal typical chad'. He's a sweet, witty, charming man who cares about injustice. Quasimodo is amazing too but he puts Esmeralda on a pedestal. He sees her as an angel while Phoebus sees her as a human being with beauty and flaws.

@@KoshVader That's the sillest thing I ever heared. First thing: What falws? What flaws Esmeralda has? The movie makes a big point what a flawless saint she is. Second Quasimodo's and Phoebus feelings are equaly valid. In fact Phoebus is attracted to her from the start and Quasimodo falls in love with her AFTER she flirts with him and gives him a kiss on the cheek. Yes Quasi is more shy but as evidant above she don't mind. Both Pohebus an Quasi admire her and both risk their life for her. Esmeralda just so happen to fall for the more handsome guy which is tad contradicts the movies message by making it more shallow. There is nothing wrong with her wanting to be with Quasi unless one is team Frollo.
