Synopsis: Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy Gray’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake.

The last hunger games movie was the last film I watched with my father before he died. Movies were our ritual, every two weeks. I don't go to the theatre since he passed away. Maybe I'll see this one to remember him.

Yeah but I found it was too much. I think this story with very excellent over all themes could be much better told in a shorter way in a movie.

The details in the book made it feel like it was dwelling or lingering on things, but I think this film will do a good job keeping the vital pieces and breezing over the quick details. Like, in Hunger Games, how Katniss actually ‘got’ the Mocking Jay pin would have taken a lot more story development, so I see why they sped it up.

Idk how I feel about the casting of Lucy gray, actor looks about 25 but is what it is, was the same for clove, Cato, thresh and other tributes that are supposed to be teenagers

He is Caesar Flickerman's father i guess. Some Capitol people take over their previous generations' jobs to maintain their citizenship so they won't be moved to the districts. Capitol people are privileged ones, competency at its finest.

The book is so intense. Looks like they picked the perfect actors for the parts. I’m sad to think this may be a two or three part movie, because SO much happens in the book!

For those who are complaining Go read the book if you can’t be bothered to flip pages get the audiobook. I recommend the audible version it’s read by the guy who voiced Prince Hans in Frozen One. I dual read the book with physical and audio copy and it’s a good read.

Really dissapointed to not see any mention of district 8 hospital helper, I was really looking forward to seeing his story develop throughout the series. Charles was such a perfect choice for that role, had me captivated the entire way through wanting to know what happened. I hope production can see their blunder and adjust accordingly.

I'm super hyped for this film: it's one of my favorite books but I can say that from the beginning I dreamed that it would be in two parts because for me too much info to give but hey, we'll see. And the casting scared me but in fact seeing the images I am conquered ❤

This is the first hunger games that featured mentors. So kind of the beginning of the hunger games we saw. Before this it was just a punishment of the districts with no spectacle attached. But without context it does sound funny

It doesn't change the fact that it would be nice to have Donald at the end of it (they easily could not include him, even if it is literally story about his character). So, this looks more like on of those other dystopian teen films more than it looks like it's a Hunger Games film. The lighting, the movement, the set design, the acting. It's all off. It can still be fun, but it's probably not gonna fit in with a marathon the same way the hobbit films don't match the lord of the rings just visually speaking.

It is the same director as the last few Hunger Games so hopefully there will be some of the same vibe. However it also takes place in so many years before the Hunger Games we know so I’d expect the tone and stuff to be different!

I think it's just the trailer. It's very much basic cinematic one, with epic music - Hunger Games were never about that. The scenes look exactly the same as the book describes them though. As this is the same director as last few movies - this definitely gonna fit perfectly when you see actual cut.

It’s not supposed to be as modern as the games with Katniss and Peeta. It’s supposed to feel more grimy and less advanced.

The book read like it was written as an excuse to get a new movie made, and this looks like it’ll be faithful to the book. Could end up being one of the better films in the franchise.
