About 20 years ago, a friend of mine. Worked for a guy, who had inherited roughly 2000 acres. That had an old strip mine, that had never been fished. However it was naturally stocked, by ducks and other birds for 80+ years. One day my friend got, permission from his boss. To fish the, stripper cut. I till remember the pictures, of the blue next to and inside his 12" cast iron skillet. They were, monster blue gills. I can only imagine what, else might be hiding in there.

A lot of people don’t think catfish suspend to feed but I’ve been tearing up for a year suspending 4-8ft under big floats in 20 plus feet of water. It’s a different feeling when that float started to take off or just drop to the bottom. Great vid like always big dawg.

I know exactly where you're at Nick I'm a retired towboat Captain that worked the St.louis harbor for years. Been through lock 27 many time's. I'm surprised the Corp of Engineers didn't get on you for flying that drone over the lock . Great video by the way

I’d love to see a video where you give suggestions on finding new spots. You can show how you utilize online resources to tell if a spot seems viable. I definitely understanding protecting spots cus they can get destroyed, so no revealing real locations but escouting tips would be awesome

This is one good thing about the granite city area . Also when ya get over on the Chouteau island ya can go up the other way to the canal entrance. Fast water sweeping on the river side calm in the canal just when barges come in don't be surprised if you bait starts moving backwards.

Oh and maybe take a rare trip outside of whats known to you like north for some pike or west for monster sturgeon, or even an ocean trip where there is countless giants of every kind and sort. The only thing is I would want to keep my best catches to feed friends and family or someone in need. Good protein is expensive and one or the limit 2/day salmons from the American River in CA could feed a huge family. love your vids 618 and thank you for sharing

618 fishing, it has appeared to me that you live in the st Lois area I also know that Flathead catfish are some of your favorite species, I know a good spot in Cape Girardeau Missouri and it’s called red star access. In this spot you can catch Flathead catfish easily, the spot consists of a “creek” connecting into the Mississippi River. I Recommend using live bait and casting in the river and not casting into the creek. Make sure to use heavy sinkers too because there rushing water. Lastly if you want to come here check water levels first since chances of catching one are optimal when water levels are higher than the boat ramp. I hope you find this comment and I hope you come to red star access, tight lines brother!

Great video. Next time you fish the spot of the G Island keep casting in a river not the channel because River has berm built l-shape slow the water down. That's where the big fish hangs

North end of the canal....Ill side.........where it meets the river , fish in the swirl, use herring. For a crazy adventure, be careful, goto the river side of the island where the other river dumps against the bank of the island.

Missouri river would be where to go. many 100+ cats have been pulled from it. it has alot of man made breakwaters and those have been known to hide monsters.

As a hillbilly, that’s the best catfish bait I’ve found. Bluegill heads/fish heads. Night crawlers are a trusty go to. Just like you I’ve tried all kindsa stuff. Even caught’m on bacon. Just somethin bout a bleedin fish head that getsum hittin.

When the river is low and the bar is exposed you should go all the way down to the jetty/dike and fish the other side of it. There is an extremely deep hole there.
